2. Definition and Types
• It is an antigenic substance produced in tumor
cells.
• Tumor antigens, because of their relative
abundance in tumor cells are useful in identifying
specific tumor cells. Certain tumors have certain
tumor antigens in abundance.
• Types
1)Tumor specific transplantation antigen(TSTA)
2)Tumor associated transplantation antigen(TATA)

4. TSTA
• Unique to cancer cells.
• It mediates cell mediated immune response.
5. TATA
• These are expressed in fetal cells and not
unique to tumor cells.
• Not mostly seen in adults but its reactivation
of oncofetal proteins express the TATA.
