2. RESEARCH & PLANNING – Prezi…
What is ‘Prezi’:
Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software that was introduced in April 2009, in order to replace
ordinary slide-based presentations. The product is more creative and flexible, as it employs a
zooming User Interface (ZUI) which allows people to view and explore their illustrated media in a
more exciting and efficient way. (Enables them to display and navigate through information within
2.5D or parallax 3D space on the Z axis).
How the technology benefited me:
• It allowed me to organise and locate specific information
more clearly.
• It enabled me to explore and expand a diverse range of
information and ideas all at once.
• Gave me the ability to import many resources like videos
and photos, which were great for evidence and
comparisons.
What skills did I gain:
• I learnt how to structure presentations and build on
effective ideas (Topics and Sub-topics)
• I learnt how to organise my research efficiently by
dividing and simplifying information.
Overall, we used Prezi to create
presentations on Iconography/Types
of OTS’s/Swede/Mainstream vs
Independent…

3. RESEARCH & PLANNING
– FreePlay Music…
What is ‘FreePlay Music’:
FreePlay Music is one of the most trusted production music libraries in the online world. With a wide
variety of high quality music and world class customer service, clients from all over the world use
their products in everything from personal web videos to major network television broadcasts and
successful features films. It has been at the forefront of innovations in the music industry since its

How the technology benefited me:
• It gave me the ability to search and explore a
diverse range of music and sounds using keywords,
like “Haunting” and “Nightmare” (Helped me find the
perfect song for our OTS).
• It enlightened me with a good understanding of what
possession music should sound like.
What skills did I gain:
• I learnt the effects of score music in possession
films and how significant they are in creating
atmosphere and suspense.
• I learnt how different instruments are utilised to
create different effects, like ‘weeping strings’.
Overall, we used FreePlay Music for
our Music Research on our blog…
4. CONSTRUCTION – PurplePlanet…
What is ‘PurplePlanet’:
PurplePlanet is an online music library that withholds royalty free music for web, film and TV
purposes. The owners like the music to have a natural, non-synthetic feel, so they use real
instruments like guitars, basses and percussion. In addition to this, they use a wide range of
software instruments and sample collections. They can pretty much create anything.
How the technology benefited me:
• It was a vital element within the construction of our
OTS, as we imported our chosen score from this
particular music library.
• It provided a descriptive caption for each song we
were interested in using (helped clarify their individual
sounds and effects).
After importing ‘Insidious’ into final
cut pro, we began to understand the
relationship between the music and
the visual editing (parallel connection
between them, to create atmosphere
and suspense).
*Alex was in charge of searching for the
appropriate song with some input from Phil,
as they had the most experience in music.
5. EVALUATION – Emaze…
What is ‘Emaze’:
Emaze is an online presentation platform built on HTML5 technology.
Users can create, manage, and share presentations through a cloud-
based SAAS system. Emaze offers a variety of presentation templates,
including formats using 3D animations and video backgrounds to make
online presentations stand out.
We used Emaze in our evaluation question 2, which involved creating a group presentation about the
representation of social groups in our OTS. As well as this, we also had to import images from our
own OTS, and images from professional films to show comparison (similarities and differences). It
was very quick and simple to use, and very easy to layout your ideas clearly.
