on yet…SHAME
7. SO, WHAT IS SHAME?
Shame is guilt's sidekick
Batman and Robin
Cheese and Crackers
Lone Ranger and Tonto
8. Guilt is usually tied to an event:
I did something bad.
Shame is tied to a person:
I am bad.
9. Guilt is the wound.
Shame is the scar.
Guilt is isolated to the individual.
Shame is contagious. It is
relational in character and
spreads to your relationships
10. Guilt says,
“You did something wrong.”
Shame says,
“That’s why you need to hide.
You’re no good. You deserve
to live in darkness. Come
with me; I’ll lead the way.”

if it drives us away
from closesness in
relationships,
HOW CAN IT NOT

Forgiveness
There are 2 answers to that,
First – God searches for us and
draws us into forgiveness
Secondly – our isolation can act as
teacher, letting us know something
is wrong
HIDING
GOD
14. In fact, “shamelessness”—being so
hard-hearted that one carouses in
broad daylight—is a sign that
something is seriously wrong
(Romans 1:27; 1 Corinthians 6:5; 11:6;
Ephesians 5:12; Philippians 3:19;
1 Peter 3:16).
Not all Shame is bad!!!
15. Proverbs 3:35 : The wise will inherit
honor and glory, But dishonor and
shame is conferred on fools.
Proverbs 13:5 : A righteous man
hates lies, But a wicked man is
loathsome, and he acts shamefully.

When we go around “Shoulding”
ourselves (or others), we are laying
on a burden of performance based
on expectation

3)They are hyper critical of
themselves and others
Sometimes they try and hide their
shame by becoming perfectionists,
always having to do things perfect

4)They never feel like they
belong anywhere
The Shame filled person feels they
are different than everyone else so
they never fit in.

5)They often have a need to
control others
The Shame filled person doesn’t
want to be found out, so they try
and control others

2) Stop letting Satan accuse you
There is now no condemnation for
those who are in Christ Jesus
Most shame would stop here is we
understood this verse
