A Diversified Portfolio
• Focus on Africa – source of 60% of the world’s diamonds by value
• Eight producing mines – provides flexibility in terms of portfolio performance
• Kimberlite exploration programme in Botswana
5
Focus On Botswana
• Africa’s premier mining jurisdiction
• World’s largest diamond producer by
value
• Superb geological prospectivity
• Stable politically and attractive fiscal
regime
• Easy logistics
• Transparent land tenure system
Petra Diamonds Botswana
• Petra Diamonds Botswana holds major
diamond exploration landholding of
22,250km² – all ‘on craton’

New Kimberlite Discovery
• Initial drilling and micro-diamond sampling campaign
indicated:
• Initial modelled (undiluted) diamond grade
between 75-180 cpht (J Ferreira / MSA)
• Indications of a reasonably coarse diamond size
distribution from MiDA modelling (J Ferreira /
MSA)
• Surface area interpreted to be ~5 ha under 78m of
Kalahari overburden
• LDD drilling and bulk sampling campaign has now
commenced
• Results expected later in the year

• The rock is classified as a hypabyssal-facies, coherent, macrocrystic, altered
phlogopite kimberlite
• Based on the grain size of the groundmass, euhedral, opaque spinels (up to 0.07 mm)
this kimberlite is petrographically rated as high interest with respect to diamond
potential
• The development of the kimberlites indicates the intervention of hypabyssal crystallization
by a process known as second boiling. This process is likely to put an end to diamond
oxidation and should therefore be seen as a positive process with regard to diamond
preservation

  • 23. • The rock is classified as a hypabyssal-facies, coherent, macrocrystic, altered phlogopite kimberlite • Based on the grain size of the groundmass, euhedral, opaque spinels (up to 0.07 mm) this kimberlite is petrographically rated as high interest with respect to diamond potential • The development of the kimberlites indicates the intervention of hypabyssal crystallization by a process known as second boiling. This process is likely to put an end to diamond oxidation and should therefore be seen as a positive process with regard to diamond preservation 23 KX36 Petrographic Assessment (by Mike Skinner)
