The Challenge NCS Engagement Co‐ordinator 1 MONTH
Part of the sales team. Recruited school pupils on to the National Citizen Service (NCS); a programme
helping young people (age 15‐17) build the confidence, skills and knowledge for work and personal
life. Co‐ran stalls and PHSE workshops at schools to convert and generate leads, take payments and
answer questions. Emailed and phoned pupils to ensure retention and recruit new participants. Took
incoming calls from pupils, parents and teachers, logged them on to Salesforce, and forwarded
enquiries where needed. Excellent customer service helped the team hit their recruitment targets.
The Challenge NCS Assistant Programme Manager 5 MONTHS
Part of the programmes team setting‐up and delivering the NCS programme (to circa 1,500 young
people). Set‐up tasks aimed to support colleagues with networking events and staff training, seek
partnerships and plan 60 projects, recruit business volunteers to host 20 professional visits and 16 to
judge projects, run partner meetings, book transport, hit team and individual targets, and present at
parents’ information evenings. Delivering up to 10 enterprise and volunteering events at once
involved resourcing, coaching and monitoring 12 staff, 3 volunteers, and a £6,500 3‐month budget,
while managing challenging behaviour and promoting NCS graduate opportunities. Plus, preparing
and submitting accounting reports, and delivering the graduation speech were key post‐NCS tasks.
2. Cardiff University PA to Widening Access Manager 4 MONTHS
Delivered and evaluated an Easter GCSE Maths revision course. Chased up registration information,
registered pupils on arrival, collated feedback, and subsequently manipulated and reported on all
data relating to the project. Proactively designed, sought approval and developed an inventory
management database that saved on storage costs. Ran staff trainings on two new IT systems.
Evaluated and planned widening access community projects involving three university departments.
Welsh Centre for
International Affairs Schools’ Events & Engagement Officer 6 MONTHS
Administrative support to the education officers in producing materials, updating the website and
databases, and delivering trainings and events for teachers and pupils in international affairs.
Managed membership system, organised 10 school events each for 100+ people (aged 15‐18) and
reached out to schools and colleges through calls, emails and letters to build and foster relationships.
