Teenage pregnancy is a serious issue that can negatively impact adolescents' lives. Some of the key contributing factors include lack of parental guidance, peer pressure to have sex, lack of sexual education, poverty, and sexual abuse. Consequences of teenage pregnancy include high-risk pregnancy, low birth weight babies, lower rates of continuing education, increased risk of domestic violence, and resorting to abortion. Prevention efforts should encourage abstinence, open communication, developing interests outside of sex, and nurturing spirituality.
