The document consists of diary entries from a student documenting the process of creating a newspaper article and ancillary tasks on the EU referendum for a media course. Over the course of 27 entries, the student details researching and planning the article, drafting and revising the content and layout, developing additional promotional materials like a billboard and podcast, and receiving feedback from teachers and peers to further improve the work. The student worked independently and learned from past group work experiences.

 Today we have been introduced to the new task that
we must do for our media course work. I have
decided to write about the EU referendum in a
newspaper article. I will also be creating a billboard
to advertise the newspapers edition. Furthermore, I
have decided to work alone on this project as I have
now learnt from previous experiences that I cannot
rely on anyone so I have decided to do it myself.

 Today I have started my research and planning. I
have carried out a interview on some people to see
what they think about the EU referendum and what
they want to see in my article. Moreover, I have
started to create my templates for my newspaper
article as well as the context page which I have done,
but I just need to include the text now.

 This lesson I have completed my templates for the
front page, context page and the 2 main article pages.
Furthermore I have completed my plan for the
newspaper article that I am going to write. Now the
next thing I need to do is write the article itself. Once
I have done this I will play about with the colours
and the pictures to see where they look best.

 Today I have updated my shot types and started to
write my newspaper article. I have found it hard at
first to get started but it is starting to get easier over
time. I have completed my two main pages layout
for my article and I now need to upload them with
my front cover and context page. Moreover, I am a
quarter of the way through the article and hope to
have completed it by the end of the week.

 On the 17th of October I went up to London to gather
pictures for my front cover of my newspaper. The
pictures consist of the houses of parliament with a variety
of shots, from close ups to extreme long shots. Moreover,
I got images for the inside cover as well which will consist
of MP Mark Francois and the houses of parliament. Now
that my basic layout has been completed for my
newspaper article, I can now start adding detail to the
newspaper; including the images that I took being
inserted into the article and have a look at the colours and
lighting for them to see if they need to be changed.

 Today I have worked on my front cover of my
newspaper article as well as the newspaper article.
The newspaper article is nearly complete, I only need
to complete one more sub heading and the
newspaper article will be complete. Moreover, I have
changed the brightness and the contrast on the
image so it looks more in depth and more attractive
to the target audience. The next time I work on the
newspaper I will editing the borders and where to
place the newspaper article once it is complete.

 Today I have completed the newspaper article, on
which I have added a summary and read through
and corrected any spelling or punctuation.
Moreover, have started to improve my newspaper
front cover. The front cover idea has changed, I have
decided to take a picture of my face and put the
British flag on it. I plan to do this next lesson.

 Today I have finally came up with an idea on how I
am going to put the British flag on my face. I am
going to take a picture of the British flag and
Photoshop it onto my face using this tutorial for
help(which is displayed below).

 Today I have finally completed the front cover photo
on my newspaper. It took a long time but I managed
to do it.(with some guidance from my colleague). My
next task is to get feedback from my teacher to see if
I can improve it.
 The reason why I wanted to change it was because
there was not much creativity in the newspaper and
I was afraid I might get marked down for it.

 Today I have received feedback from my teacher and
he has concluded that I should add a thunder cloud
in the background to show uncertainty and also so it
makes the newspaper look more neutral as that is
what my target audiences are. I am now going to
work on this and try to boost the grade I get on this.

 Today I have added the thunder cloud in the
background of my face. Moreover, I am now waiting
for feedback on the update of my front cover. I am
also awaiting feedback for my newspaper article as it
want to make sure that there are no mistakes or bias
comments in the newspaper article. Furthermore, I
now plan to conclude on my project so that I can
move on to the evaluation early so that there is no
rush for it to be complete.

 Today I have improved my newspaper article by
making look more like a newspaper article. I did this
by changing the layout and format to a newspaper.
Moreover, I also improved the front cover by adding
miscellaneous subjects such as random headlines to
make the newspaper look more genuine and up to
date.

 Today I have received feedback from my teacher and
colleagues. The teacher said I was confused on what
should be in a newspaper so I was instructed to
annotate my work to help me realize what needs to
change. Now that it is completed I now know I need
to add in more sub topics, close and gaps that are to
big and decrease the font size a lot. Now that I know
this, I am currently working on improving these
changes.

 Today I have taken action on the improvements. I
have added more sub topics on the front cover to
make the front cover look like a newspaper front
page. Moreover, I have edited the layout of the
newspaper. I have made the text smaller so it is not
as big and I have shifted the sub topics over on left
so it follows the stereotypical newspaper layout.

 Today I have also improved my newspaper article
layout. I did this by putting the pictures within text
and also shifting the layout so that I could get my
summary in there. As well as this, I have made a
improvement to one of the photos on page 2. I added
a British flag behind the houses of parliament to
show nationalism strength. I did this so it makes my
newspaper article more creative like my front cover.
I now plan to get feedback and work on that
feedback to achieve a higher grade.

 Today I have been busy, I have now started to work
on the creative side of my front cover. I have added a
border around the top of my newspaper that is
mixed between the colours of blue and yellow. This
is to make it more creative and to make stand out to
my target audience. Furthermore, I have also started
to put a border around my title so that it also stands
out more. As part of my feedback, 90% of people that
looked at it said it needed to be more creative as it
was to plain. So this is why I am acting upon this
feedback.

 Today I have made a lot of improvements to my front
cover, I have added a banner on top of the newspaper to
make it look more creative and unique. Moreover I have
added lots of miscellaneous subjects and details on front
such as: the price, websites, and other topics that are
mentioned on the newspaper. I now plan to continue my
detailed edit on the front cover by adding more
miscellaneous items and topics. I am also going to ask for
feedback on my newspaper front cover to try and get the
best possible grade.

 Today I have focused on tidying up the front cover. I
have added more colours to the front cover so that it
stands out to my target audience. Moreover, I have
also added more miscellaneous topics on the front
cover to make it look more genuine.
 I have also now started to plan for my ancillary
tasks. My ancillary tasks consist of a radio podcast
for my newspaper and a billboard that also
advertises my newspaper.

 Today has been a great day. I have finally completed
my newspaper article and design of my newspaper
to a good standard.
 I have now started my research and planning for my
billboard. I have found three billboards that stand
out to me and have evaluated them in accordance to
their relevance for my idea for a billboard.
 As well as this, I have also started my research and
planning for my radio podcast, I have found four
radio podcasts but I have yet been able to evaluate
them. Next lesson I will be doing this.

 Today I have completed my research and planning
for my billboard. I now know what I want to do and
started to look at the codes and conventions of a
good billboard.
 As well as this I have now completed my radio
podcast research and planning. I have evaluated four
radio podcasts from different companies and have
started to proceed with the codes and conventions.
 Next lesson I will be completing the codes and
conventions for my radio podcast and billboard.

 Today I have completed the codes and conventions
of my billboard and radio podcast. In completion to
this, I have now started to write the script for my
radio podcast and also made a draft of my billboard.
 For the billboard, I have asked a colleague to take
photos of me posing for the billboard. I plan for this
image to be at the center of my billboard to show
power and dominance.
 For the radio podcast, I have wrote the script and
have had a couple of practices with little success.
Next lesson I plan to get this completed.

23. 
 Today I have completed the raw radio podcast and now
plan to edit it. I have planned to add a jingle in the
background to keep the target audience aware of the
advert.
 Moreover, I have now started to add text to my billboard I
have gone for the sentence “ judgment day”. I have used
this particular so that it makes people stop and think
about what I am implying.
 With the radio podcast, I have started to edit it on final
cut pro but have done very little.
 Next lesson I plan to do more editing on the radio podcast
and also on the billboard.

 Today has been a productive but stressful day. I have
added some final touches to my billboard and now
wait for my teacher and colleagues to evaluate it.
 My radio podcast has made big progress, I have
found a jingle that goes with my radio podcast after
1hr and 15mins of searching, which I have now
started to implement behind my script.
 Next lesson I plan to finish my radio podcast with
the sound to be ok as well as the timings. The
billboard should nearly be finished next lesson as I
should of received feedback.

25. 
 Today I has been a bit stressful. The billboard is
complete after I received my feedback(which was to
change the colour of the title of the newspaper).
 The radio podcast has been a massive pain. I have
been messing with the DBS to find the perfect
volume of my voice and for the jingle. Although it
was stressful I have now nearly completed it and
should be able to finish it next lesson.
 So for next lesson I plan to finish my radio podcast
and post my billboard on my blog as the final
product.

 Today has been very successful. I have posted my
final billboard onto my blog and have now started to
make the final touches to my radio podcast.
 The podcast should hopefully be finished by next
lesson on which I will ask my teacher and colleagues
to evaluate it and will act upon their feedback.
 Next lesson I plan to receive my feedback from radio
podcast and act upon it. Once this is done I will
upload onto sound cloud and upload it onto my
blog.

 Today has been a great day, I received my feedback
and acted upon it. But the great news is that my
product is finally finished and I have now put it on
Sound cloud and have transferred it onto my blog.
 I have finally completed my ancillary tasks and I
now await the evaluation questions.
 Next lesson I should receive the evaluation questions
and I will then start work on them.

 Today I have finally uploaded my final product of my
newspapers article/front cover.
 I had some last minute feedback from my teacher and
acted on it accordingly. You may notice a change on the
bottom left of my work; which is where the last minute
changes were made.
 It was hard work and went under a lot of make overs to
try and find the perfect layout. Now that this is done I
may revisit my ancillary tasks just to make sure they are
as good as they can be.
 I have not yet received the evaluation questions but
hopefully I should get them in the near future.
