ACTIVE LEARNING ASSIGNMENT 5
An instrumentation system is an aggregation or assembly of
the device united by some form of regular interaction of an
interdependence. It is a group of diverse units or devices
so combined by nature or by an art to form an integral
whole and to function, operate or move in unison and often
in obedience to some form of control.
Data acquisition systems via analog signals are used in
communications, electronics, and medical applications.
Where in a digitized form it is widely used because
complex circuits are low cost, accurate and simple to
implement.
Data acquisition systems are used to measure and record
analog signals in two ways:
1. Signals which originate from direct measurement of electric
quantities. These signals may be ac or dc voltages, frequency,
or resistance, etc.
2. Signals which originate from use of transducers.
6. Types of instrumentation
systems
1. Analog systems : these systems deal with information
in analog form. An analog signal may be defined as
continuous function, such as a plot of voltage vs. time
or displacement vs. force.
2. Digital systems : a digital quantity may consists of a
number of discrete or discontinuous pulses whose time
relationship contains information about the magnitude
and the nature of the quantity under measurement.
