6. INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE
•Indigenous knowledge (IK) is the local
knowledge – knowledge that is unique to a
given culture or society. IK contrasts with the
international knowledge system generated by
universities, research institutions and private
firms. (Warren 1991)

21. ASSIGNMENT : INDIVIDUAL
• Students will research for an event related to St. Stephen’s
High School which happened more than 10 years ago. They
can interview their parents who are alumni of the school or
interview a teacher or staff who worked for the school for
more than 10 years.
• Encode the information on a short bond paper, identify the
source of information. Submit it to the teacher via Edmodo
not more than 1 week after it was assigned.

. It is the basis for local-level decision making in agriculture, health care, food preparation, education, natural-resource management, and a host of other activities in rural communities. (Warren 1991)

Class Discussion
1. Why is indigenous knowledge and indigenous media very important for the Philippines?
This topic is pretty serious, so I decided to show the first video which is actually about “Mr. Bean in The Library”. I didn’t inform the students that it is Mr. Bean, I’m not sure if Mr. Bean is still relevant to students today, I hope they will still find this episode very funny.
