2. Burns & McDonnell | Engineering & architecture: expanding
In order to accommodate growth, the firm is leasing an additional 7,000-square feet of space within an office building at 8201 Norman Center Drive in Bloomington.
With the additional space, Burns & McDonnell now occupies about 25,000 square feet in the building.
Children’s Hospitals & Clinics | Nonprofit health system: relocating, consolidating
Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is nearing a deal to lease about 200,000 square feet for a new back office in Edina where it will move 650 to 700
employees. The pending lease is for Lincoln Corporate Center, 5901 Lincoln Drive. Children's plans to start moving its "non-clinical" staff into the building in the
spring of 2016 and have the move completed by the end of that year.
The Hartford | Financial services: contracting
The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has closed its mutual funds operation in Woodbury, resulting in the layoff or move of 190 workers. The move comes five
months after the company notified state economic development officials that it might cut up to 200 jobs in the near future.
Imris | Medical device manufacturing: contracting
Med-tech company Imris Inc., which moved its headquarters from Canada to the Twin Cities two years ago, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Minnetonka-based Imris plans to sell its operations to Deerfield Management Co. after a bankruptcy auction. It expects the deal to close in late August. Imris, which
makes MRI-guided surgical systems, said high research and development expenses and delayed product installations contributed to its bankruptcy.
Object Partners | Software: expanding, relocating
Object Partners Inc. will more than triple the size of its headquarters with a move to Northeast Minneapolis. The company recently leased 16,000 square feet at 1515
Central Ave. NE. and will move out of 5,000 square feet at the Butler Square building in Minneapolis. The company is also expanding outside the Twin Cities. It
leased 4,000 square feet for an office in Omaha.
SmartThings | High tech: expanding
SmartThings is moving its Northeast Minneapolis office to bigger digs. The company opened its new offices at 308 E. Hennepin Ave. this week. The 8,800-square-
foot space is about three times larger than SmartThings' previous Minneapolis location at 11 Fourth St. N.E.

Amazon.com | E-commerce: expanding
The Seattle-based Internet retailer (NYSE: AMZN) has reached a deal to lease a vacant 162,000-square-foot industrial building at 5825 11th Ave. E in
Shakopee, about two miles east of the site where Amazon plans a larger $220 million, 820,000-square-foot product fulfillment.
AmerisourceBergen Corp. | Pharmaceutical distribution: expanding
AmerisourceBergen will occupy the 216,000-square-foot industrial building that Opus Development Co. plans to build in the Valley Park Business Center at the
southwest corner of Innovation Boulevard and Innovation Drive. The building could later be expanded by 146,000 square feet. AmerisourceBergen, which already
has a distribution center in Eden Prairie at 6810 Shady Oak Road, entered the Twin Cities in 2005 when it bought Minnetonka-based PraireStone Pharmacy.
The Bernard Group | Signage manufacturing: expanding
The Bernard Group, a maker of retail signage and other fixtures, appears ready to expand in a $3.57 million move that would shift nearly 400 employees from
Chaska to a former Supervalu facility in Chanhassen. An expansion would allow the company to add 240 jobs over three years, bringing its total employees at the
new location to 625. The Chanhassen property, Supervalu’s former regional office at 19011 Lake Drive E., would provide 156,333 square feet of leased space, but
owner CSM Corp. says that a tenant could increase the footprint to 253,000 square feet.
CenterPoint | Energy: expanding
CenterPoint is planning to invest up to $12 million to build an operations facility in Golden Valley. The Golden Valley Planning Commission this week recommended
approval of plans for the 64,000-square-foot facility at 6161 Golden Valley Road. The building would be home to about 200 CenterPoint employees, and would
include about 40,000 square feet of warehouse space, 20,000 square feet of office space and a roughly 3,600-square-foot metal shop.
Polaris Industries Inc. | Recreational vehicle manufacturing: expanding
Polaris Industries Inc. has signed an 850,000-square-foot lease for part of Shakopee's former Kmart distribution center. The Medina-based recreational vehicle
manufacturer will consolidate several metro warehouses (most in St. Paul) and 120 to 140 existing jobs into the building. The building will house Polaris products for
shipment to domestic and international markets.
