2. QUESTION 1
Most people would want a documentary that I have asked in my documentary seem to want a
balanced documentary. This means that they believe a BBC two documentary should present both
sides of the argument. I believe that my own documentary succeeds in doing this reasonably well
given that the interviews of the public and my interviewees have given a reasonably balanced view.
People also seemed to want me to think that BBC two documentaries should discuss serious topics
and have a serious tone. This is because I included a fairly melancholy soundtrack in order to ensure
that the tone of my documentary was kept as serious as possible.
3. QUESTION 2
I then asked whether people would expect a BBC two documentary to be informing, entertain,
factual or biased to a particular viewpoint. Clearly people felt that a BBC two documentary should be
informative and factual. This was a major strength of my documentary given that I felt that it was
both informative and factual. For example I used several facts throughout my documentary which
ensured that it was fairly informative.
4. QUESTION 3
Most people think that my documentary matches the style of a BBC two documentary
reasonably well given that it matches the “style and tone” of a BBC documentary. This means
that I have succeeded in creating a BBC two style documentary which is what I initially set out
to do. This is further shown by the fact that my documentary is less “controversial” than a
channel 4 documentary, which also helps my documentary look like a BBC two documentary.
5. QUESTION 4
Most people seemed to agree that the soundtrack was very effective for my
documentary. This seemed to be because they felt it fit my documentary extremely
well given that it seemed to be fairly serious which matched the tone of my
documentary. People also considered that the soundtrack I used gave my
documentary a fairly “thoughtful” tone. This was also something that I wanted to do
in order to allow people to reflect on any elements of my documentary. One
criticism people seemed to have with my documentary is that the some of the
sound quality was not as good as it could have been which if I had the time to
improve on this it would have made it a higher quality documentary overall.
Most people also though that the lighting was appropriate for the subject matter
given that it was relatively low key, which would be appropriate for a serious subject
6. QUESTION 5
Most people seem to think that my documentary does a good job of highlighting
the issues surrounding food waste in Britain today. This is because they point out
that I have “backed up my points with facts”. This was vitally important given that
people expected my documentary to be factual as well convincing any potential
viewers that they should listen to my point on this subject.
7. QUESTION 6
One person has commented that my advert is very effective given that they have noted that when
I’m leaning against a recycling bin is “instantly recognisable” as being about “recycling”. This means
that people would be able to instantly recognise that my advert is about food waste. This was vitally
important as it meant that people would be able to recognise what my documentary is about, which
would ensure that there was synergy between my advert and documentary.
