Discussing the different groups of blood cancer, the impact and how people can help to support this health issue.
In more detail covering blood cancer groups such as:

2. Blood Cancer
There are three main groups of blood cancer:
▪ Myeloma
▪ Lymphoma
▪ Leukemia
The three groups consist of a further 130 blood cancers.
Someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer every 14 minutes… In
the US, it is every three minutes.

4. Myeloma
Myeloma attacks blood plasma
cells causing an excess production
of abnormal plasma cells in bone
marrow.
Myeloma is treatable, but currently,
incurable.
11 people in the UK are diagnosed
with myeloma each day.

‘Prevalence’, in this instance, is the number of people alive on any given day, diagnosed in the last 3,5, or 10 years.
5. Lymphoma
Lymphoma attacks white blood cells
called lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are
a crucial part of your immune system,
key in fighting unwanted antibodies.
There are two groups of Lymphoma:
▪ Hodgkin Lymphoma
▪ Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
32 people are diagnosed with
lymphoma every day in the UK.

In the last 40 years, the five year survival rate
of Lymphoma sufferers has greatly increased.
Funding, research and clinical trials have not
only increased the likelihood of survival, but
also the quality of care for those affected.
6. Leukaemia
Leukaemia also affects white
blood cells, causing the
subsequent production of faulty
white blood cells.
Acute myeloid leukaemia has the
lowest five year survival rate of any
leukaemia type (15%).

8. Raise Money
Fundraising events are taking place every single day:
• Cycling
• 10K Runs
• Marathons
• Concerts
• Triathlons
• Community Events
• Christmas Events
Search ‘blood cancer events’ and sign up to the
next date!
9. Volunteer
Go to community meetings and voice the issues of
those who are not able.
Vote in local elections for candidates who will
represent less fortunate members of society.
Join a local fundraising group.
Give a gift to someone affected by blood cancer
this Christmas.
Donate money to blood cancer charities.
