Reproductive health is a state of
complete physical, mental and social
well-being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity, in all matters
relating to the reproductive system and
to it’s functions and processes. (WHO)

4. Key facts of (RH)
Every day, approximately 830 women die from
preventable causes related to pregnancy and
childbirth.
99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing
countries.
Maternal mortality is higher in women living in rural
areas and among poorer communities.
Young adolescents face a higher risk of complications
and death as a result of pregnancy than other women.
Skilled care before, during and after childbirth can
save the lives of women and newborn babies. (WHO)
5. Counselling in family planing
Counselling a woman on family planning
When advising a woman how to care for herself after an
abortion remember that it is important to discuss the use of a
family planning method to prevent another unwanted
pregnancy.
Explain that she can become pregnant as soon as two weeks
after an abortion if she begins to have sexual relations.
A woman who has recently experienced an induced or
spontaneous abortion should wait at least six months before
another pregnancy to reduce risks to her health and to her
future baby.
A woman who has recently experienced given birth should
wait 2 years before another pregnancy to reduce risks to her
health and to her living and future baby

12. PPD Intervention
IPT
IPT is currently thought to be one of the most effective therapy
models for treating PPD. IPT is a time-limited form of therapy (12-16
weeks) and the main goal is symptom relief.
CBT
CBT is best known for its efficacy in treating anxiety including
OCD. CBT works with the understanding that the way we think
affects the way that we feel, and so treatment is focused on helping
mom have control over her thoughts so that she feels more able to
change them.
DBT
uses practice and homework as a part of its process. DBT teaches
skills in the following categories: mindfulness, distress tolerance,
emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is often
supported through both group and individual therapy and follows a
specific guideline for teaching skills to reduce symptoms related to
distress.
13. PPD Intervention
Group therapy
Group therapy uses the role of community in support. A true group
therapy session is facilitated by one or more trained
psychotherapists and uses the dynamics that occur between
members of the group to help identify problem areas and
interpersonal distress.

Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy provides a space for partners to be heard during a time of
crises. In a couples therapy setting, recurrent negative patterns within the
relationship will be addressed and couples will learn communication and
listening strategies necessary in working through these challenges.
14. Sexual Health
Sexual health is a big part of life. It can
affect and is affected by other aspects of
health. This includes physical, mental,
emotional, and social health. Being in good
sexual health means well informed, careful,
and respectful to yourself and others. It also
means enjoying sexually in a way
