needs through catching fishes with
fishing resources or trading.
Co-operatives have been improving
the socio economic well being of
their members and their local
communities. For economic
establishment it is essestial specially
for fisheries community.

The name of Kazir Bazar Co-
operative is “Sylhet Sadar
Motsho Arotdar Kollan
Shomobay Shomiti Ltd.”
The co-operative was established in 1984 with 10-
12 members at its beginning.
The 1st president of the executive committee was
Md. Sofat Ullah and secretary was Haji Mohammad
Abdur Rahim.

 Co-operative’s office is
located in the east of Kazir
Bazar, Sheikhghat.
 There is an ice factory in the
ground floor in office building
and the main fish market is in
another side.
 The Surma river is situated
beside the fish market.

 Secretary : Hazi Md. Zahangir Alam
 All fish traders carry licenses.
 The manager conduct all of the official activities.
controls overall managements.
 Meeting is conducted once a month and also special
meeting for necessary.
 One general meeting must be executed once a year.
 Office run the whole week from dawn to dusk.
 This committee is the source of solution of any problems in market.

 All aratdars must have the membership of that group.
 Every member should pay 10 tk. per day.
 If any person want to start business as a aratdar, he must have been
registered after payment of a membership fee.
 If any member want to leave from the business , he will get his ownership
money from the stock at the same way.
 All aratdars must obey the rules of the organization & pay respect on
discisions.
 No other businessman can be involved in the group other than aratdar.
 Members arrange Halkhata on 1st Boishakh.

We are so grateful to our honorable class teachers for incorporating us to
do this type of motivational work. As we worked for first time about the
Fisheries co-operative of a fish market, so it is added a new dimension to
our experience.
