1. Assignment 4:
Video Presentation
Now that your final draft of your research paper is complete, we’re going to attempt to present
this material in another medium. This should give you practice with re-writing polished work
for another format; distilling complex information into a tighter form; your presentation and
professional speaking skills; and practice learning how to write in different media.
The video presentation requires that you submit a video of you presenting your research that is
3-5 minutes long and gives your audience an accurate picture of the most important
information from your research paper. What are the most important things that you’ve learned
about your topic that you can present in a 5 minute talk?
Your Video should aim to:
➢ Be as professional as possible.
➢ Carefully consider the rhetorical choices we’ve covered in class for this medium:
i.e.: How do you present yourself in terms of—your eye contact, body language,
confidence, body movement, hand gestures, personal style, quality of the setting,
as well as your vocal presentation (volume, speed, pitch, intonation, etc.)?
➢ Present an interesting, clear, and comprehensive report on the work you’ve done
with this research project. I would encourage you to try and move away from
reading your script directly and speak to your audience using a set of bullet
points as a guide.
➢ Include some way to direct your viewers to the sources for the information
you’re presenting, whether that’s links in the video description (for an uploaded
video), text boxes during the video, or a slide with your references cited at the
end of the video.
This video can be submitted in one of two ways:
1. As a word document on BBLearn with a link to the uploaded video.
2. As a video file that you can turn in during class via thumb drive if you prefer your video
not be uploaded to the internet. (I will not share links or show/distribute the videos to
anyone without your permission)
This video presentation is worth a total of (100pts.) and will be graded on the totality of the
presentation (rhetorical choices in voice, presentation, body language, information, etc.).
