Class Objectives
 Instill confidence in students for writing effectively using
the English language
 Encourage students to “think” in English
 Use multimedia during class to increase motivation
 Encourage students to engage English on social media
and technology related tools
 Give students the opportunity to use non-traditional
classroom methods for homework and exams
Class Objectives
 Employ peer-review for marking writing exercises
 Ask students to correct a peer’s marked essay
 Ensure that students are familiar with the paragraph
structure and possibly argumentative essay structure
Homework and Exams
 Students should use as many tech-related
resources as possible for homework
 Students are encouraged to use content
creating blockchain platforms such as Steemit
for homework and possibly exams. Extra credit
will be awarded for using content creating
content platforms. Otherwise, homework will
normally be submitted on the Moodle.
 We will also use Google Docs for some tasks.
Approximate Grading Parameters
 Exams: 30%
 Attendance and participation: 35%
 Homework: 35%
 We may be using our phones
for certain exercises, but
please don’t play with your
phones during class!
