these Welsh rocks - roots, layers building upon layers, terroir nurturing diverse flora/fauna, persistent and changed, establishing use and inviting new use - only endure because people continue to understand that continuity coupled with change are (1) to be expected and (2) requires resilience, dexterity, curiosity and competent fluency with a life in the moment that looks to the future.
we don’t live in a world of sameness. we do live in a world where we’ve inherited biases and turmoils and fossilised practices regarding (inter)cultural perceptions, practices, definitions, boundaries, barriers, exceptionalism and entitlement - as well as celebrations, ways of thinking and ways of being. and we have to make of this a positive future. students need skills for living hte worlds that will be with an understanding of emotion and intellect as these were crafted and expressed, rejected and remade in the worlds before their particular moments.
