Maintaining data consistency in peer-to-peer systems is challenging. The paper presents a framework called Balanced Consistency Maintenance (BCoM) that organizes replica nodes in a tree structure to disseminate updates using a sliding window update protocol. BCoM analytically optimizes the window size based on network conditions, workloads, and resource limits to balance consistency, availability, and performance. Enhancements include fast recovery from failures and node migration to prevent bottlenecks and improve update delivery efficiency.
