- 4. Intercultural effectiveness refers to the ability of the person to communicate effectively in different cultural contexts (Cui and Van den Berg, 1991). For example, to communicate properly, a Moroccan resident in Almeria needs to know the language and rules of communication in Spain (cognitive dimension), empathize with cultural differences (affective dimension), and be able to establish new contacts with Spanish people (behavioral dimension).
