Leadership is ultimately a social development process. There is a perception that being a young leader can lead to exuberances if temptations and
peer pressure is not resisted, and that young public leaders face serious administrative and political challenges. This perception is viewed as a social
acceptable norm in the society in which we live. Evident of this is in our constitution which states clearly in Article II, Section 1 "...neither shall any
person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been

I have also examined the current political situation in Jamaica. Several young public leaders were brought in when a new administration was formed in
January of this year. Currently a tense situation exists between two members of parliament and their constituents. Published information indicates that
these men choose the moral high ground of political leadership by not engaging in garrison styled politics. They have refused to join the status quo of
their party and may be facing political suicide.
First example is that of Damion Crawford. He sought to move away from garrison styled politics and became ostracized by his constituents for not
issuing out scare government funds to them. He is also seen as a failure by his political party for his non–corrupt stance and how it has impacted the
social media. Even though he is young to public leadership, he is seen as a champion for a better Jamaica, by well thinking Jamaicans.
"The problem in Crawford's constituency, which is being played out in so many others, is that they (MPs) were "parachuted" into the constituency at
the 11th hour. Some still don't even know their constituency boundaries, the districts, communities or even their key workers, much less the
constituents they represent'– (Vaz, D, 2012).
A second Observer article states "The NDM said if Crawford was successful in this quest it would "ensure a brighter future for

Leadership Experience–Describe your leadership experiences. Please include organization information, your roles, and length of service. Please
limit your response to 3000 characters (~500 words). In the past couple years, I've had multiple leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of
America; each one teaching me valuable lessons about being a leader and about life. The most recent one would be serving on the Grand Canyon
council as a National Eagle Scout Association and an alumni representative. I've been on each of these for four years now. For the N.E.S.A.
(National Eagle Scout Association) my role was to help retain new Eagle Scout to stay active with scouting and not just be done. The way I
accomplished this was by putting together service events and had them help organize certain parts of it and act as team leaders as well. After each
event, we would meet together and discuss what went well and what didn't go well and what we can do to improve for the next project we would do.
With the alumni committee, I am one of the founding members of it for the council. My role with them was more with working with the venturing
scout relations of the committee and also in charge of the scholarship board that we put together. In the alumni committee, I would help recruit older
venturing scouts (formerly known as explorers) to join the association. One of the ways I would help recruit people to the association was by inviting
them to service project and to the meetings we had

Leadership Is A Personal Journey Essay
The study of leadership teaches leaders about what motivates people to work. Thus, it's understood that all motivated employees, and team players
will be more productive. Therefore, the study of various theories and models of motivation, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs model, and
Herzberg's two factor theory are carefully studied to improve leader's ability to motivate their employees. Also, studyingleadership enables leaders to
understand people and the work environment better. However, most importantly, the study of leadership is a personal journey. Helping a person to
develop their leadership potentials, which enables one to develop their leadership potentials. Therefore, understanding leadership is really learning
about understanding yourself. When I decided to take this leadership class. My expectations were to learn more about myself, how to effectively
communicate with difficult people, and become a better leader. My expectations were met. However, I have also learned that I need to develop my
interpersonal skills to bring people together. As I reflect over the leadership course, my weaknesses are a need to develop my interpersonal skills, and
having an introvert personality. Interpersonal skills are life skills that I use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both individually,
and in groups. Steps that I will take to improve my interpersonal skills are expressing more appreciation for team members and support staff, actively

Personal Narrative: My Leadership Experiences
Baccalaureate prepared nurse is trained to be leaders in his or her field of practice. This has been the goal of this program from day one. I remember
one of our first semester's assignments was to attend a professional meeting organized by a nursing organization in the Phoenix Greater area. The
mentorship program conducted by the Student Nurse Associate was a priceless aspect of the program. Mentoring lower–level student and even some of
my cohorts has been one of my strongest and enjoyable parts of the whole experience.
I started mentoring Mary Le the very first day she got admitted into the nursing program at Grand Canyon University. I was just about to start my
final level of the program. To be a good mentor and leader, I needed to be aware of the good qualities of a leader. Although

When things go wrong people look up to the leader to come through with answers and react based on the leader's reaction. Mary failed her first
exam. She called me crying. I calmed her down and ask for answers to her problem. I remained positive and honest through the whole ordeal. I found
out she did not practice with questions before her exam. I advised her to stick with my strategy because it has been tried and tested. She did just that
and was successful on subsequent exams and benchmarks.
One leadership theory that I like is the situational theory. According to Wolinski (2010), "this theory suggests that different situations require different
styles of leadership. That is, to be effective in leadership requires the ability to adapt or adjust one's style to the circumstances of the situation." I am
glad through the time of storm, I was able to remain calm and direct Mary what to

A strong example of my leadership experience is my senior season of football. Following the 2016–2017 academic year, our head coach resigned on
short notice and lacked any coach to fill the position. Because he left on such short notice, we didn't have a coach for the first two weeks of the
preseason, a crucial developing point in the season. However, a small group of other seniors and I were able to schedule workouts until we got a
new coach. This established our group as team leaders and allowed us to lead the team to success in the regular season. I was later named a team
captain for my leadership on and off the field. This gave me the ability further lead by example as well as keep the team's morale up in the face of
adversity. I ran extra

What did I learn from my leadership class?
There are lots examples of organizations in which everything seems to be done right, but something is still missing. They have no soul. There is
nothing that can breathe life into the administrative system. They exist without faith, love, and hope. They are doomed to such a gray existence,
unless there is a person or a team of associates who discover the essence and meaning in this frozen system. Such a person is called a leader and a role
in which he operates – leadership. How do people become leaders? With experience, with age or from birth?
In order to rise to the top, you need to have everything to climb. A person, who has the courage to go forward or up, needs two things. He...show more

The second thing is to organize and motivate yourself. I understand how to give myself the best chance to flourish. We can make leaders from
ourselves. But the main thing here is that by changing myself, I must always stay myself. You do not need necessary to wear a mask of who you
want to be, even if you really want it. It will not lead to good results; you will only inflate your cheeks instead of an objective assessment of your
capabilities. We need to use the full power of all the energy, talents and abilities that are given to us.
There is no need to wait for the results from reading popular psychological literature with the promising titles like "Leader for the Week", "How
quickly to become a millionaire" and etc., biographies of "famous and successful." Moreover it will not be useful to visit courses, where self–styled
psychologists, of course, for a large fee, are teaching people how to become successful. Objective assessment of yourselves, your capabilities, coupled
with self–development and a clear statement of purpose – that is what is needed.
In order to analyze my drawbacks, to accept them (which is itself a step forward) and to uproot it, I find out the following methods: * Talk with my
own inside critic. We need to listen to his comments on others and ourselves and objectively contradict him. And even better to have a notebook in
which to write down everything he tells you. I should step back and look

Effective Leadership
The purpose of this personal assessment is to devalue an incident in which I believe I performed my very best, within my leadership capability,
according to organizational policies, and lawful regulatory compliance while protecting cultural competence and our organization from any legal
repercussions. Business environment will continue evolve and it is pivotal to the success of the organization that all potential leaders acquire the
fundamentals of understanding human behaviors within a multicultural atmosphere. Different situations will arise in which leadership will need to focus
on the many aspects of one's personal beliefs, culture as a whole, and productivity at the least. What is evident is the diversity within...show more

The incident in question has placed me in a unique opportunity; as the facilitator of this situation would be best to approach this in a manner that would
best benefit the organization, including my department. Although I am already conflicting within with personal and professional points of views,
addressing the situation will become a challenge. Despite who initiated this situation or who escalated the situation, resolution must be determined in
the best interest of communication within our environment.
Leadership Applicability
Leadership styles and behaviors very depending on the organization needs, cultural diversity, and human behavior (Northouse, 2013), however, no one
leadership style is more effective than the next. Working in the healthcare industry, I'm exposed to an extensive array of different characteristics ranging
from patient to professional to external third–party contractors, including the diversity within my department. However, given the situation in question
position the position I'm placed in can only mean one thing; following the set forth policies will be the direction that is taking for the situation, this
will allow me to remove myself personal perceptions and beliefs. As a

Through my leadership experiences at SCSU, I have grown into a strong, independent, and courage woman. This past spring semester, I took the
opportunity to apply and be accepted to present at M.E.Ch.A.'s national conference about my independent studies course that I developed. I never
imagined to share my cultural experiences on that level and have professors comment afterward about how they enjoy my presentation. There have
been opportunities where I was able to discuss with administrators among other students and our concerns on campus issues facing students of color
directly to them. I have met strong, academic leaders and students at conferences that have exposed me to love and embrace my cultural identity,
indigenous roots, femininity, strength, and personal struggles. The education program gave me the opportunity to continuelearning in another location
for student teaching, which again has exposed me to new experiences, people, environments, and academic challenges. I no longer view challenges
as obstacles, rather I view them as tests to help me remember how worth it, the path I am on and pursing, is to me. When I first started my freshman
year in fall 2012, I could have never imagined that I would do and come as far as I have. I remember when I began this journey, I said to myself that I

My experience in the student leadership program was interesting and informative. These are two descriptive words that stand out in my mind about the
whole program. There were times in the student leadership program when I questioned myself about being part of the class, but I overcame this once I
reflected on the many things that we have learned. From the guest speakers to the projects, the class has always kept me thinking.
First, the program was very informative. I took in so much information over the course of the semester that I sometimes feel overwhelmed, but in a
good way. From learning how to speak in public to overcoming the potential barrier of diversity, the class informed me on how to become a successful

With so many leaders expressing their feelings and ideas, I thought that opinions would start ethical wars. To mysurprise, everyone in the class
respected each other's ideas because everyone realized that we are all important to each other's growth as leaders.
The thing that stood out to me the most was the importance and impact of certain guest speakers. Dr. Derek Lane is one in particular that stood out in
my mind. His presentation was about risk taking and different leadership styles. He went over how important it was for leaders to sometimes take
risks to gain credibility and attention from their followers. I am a strong believer in that aspect of leadership and it helped reassure my own
confidence in my style of leadership. The different leadership styles that he expressed helped me develop a sense of where I fall into place in the
leadership realm. It explains why I do certain things when I am leading and helps me restrain myself from making mistakes that clash with my
leadership style. Ms. Mildred Bailey's presentation on diversity was also very exceptional. She gave us examples on how to deal with diversity in a
positive manner. In leadership, diversity must be addressed so a problem is not created. Her examples on life situations and other leadership roles put
the class in a relaxing atmosphere that let us speak out about our diversity experiences and problems. I now feel more comfortable and confident that I

I had the privilege of sitting next to an Aviation Survival Technician Chief (ASTC) for four and a half weeks! I will never forget my experience at

workout routine with new ideas. I had the chance to meet seventy–one people to expand my networking. During the Leadership Practices Inventory
(LPI) class I had the chance to read what everyone had to say about my leadership ability. It was a very unique way of seeing what my people, peers
and supervisors thought about me. Prior to seeing the results, I didn't think I would score as high in certain categories such as encouraging the heart but

hours and a commute home. I'm going to make it a priority to continue working out and make it a routine in my lifestyle. Aside from working out, I had
the chance to meet seventy–one people to expand my networking. So far in my twelve and a half year career, I haven't had the chance to work with

Introduction The reflective paper is about my leadership experience as I utilize Northouse' Skills Approach to match my present style of leadership. The
Skills Approach has three underlying skills for effective leadership namely: technical, human and conceptual skills. Through my discussion with the
leadership approach, I further describe the manner on how I direct and lead my unit with my technical and human skills with lesser emphasis on
conceptual skills. However, as I identify my strengths, I realize my inadequacies requiring the need for improvement. To resolve the shortcomings as
a leader, I develop a leadership plan which includes enhancing skills and setting up goals in order to reach the objectives in becoming an effective
leader and in aspiring for career advancement.
.
Leadership Approach In his textbook, Northouse discussed on the Skills Approach, that leadership is based on three skills which are technicalskill that
focuses on competence on working with things, human skill that emphasizes on working with people, and conceptual skill that concentrates more on
working with ideas. The skills approach suggests that knowledge, abilities and skills are needed for leaders to be effective. To become effective
managers or leaders it is important that I acquire the three skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Due to my role as a charge in our unit, I see myself
utilizing the technical and human skills more than the conceptual skill. As charge nurse,

The Negative Leadership Experience
The Negative Leadership Experience
Workplace characteristics distinguish one leader from another. Some leaders possess positive and motivating behaviors whereas other leaders possess
behaviors that are more negative. Negative behaviors can affect creativity deficiencies and alter employee morale. A positive behavior, however, will
encourage bringing out the best in others. By doing so, the leader endorses a positive culture that permeates confidence and motivation. The behavior,
positive or negative, is the catalyst that drives employee morale and professional growth.
The Micromanagement Experience
In the beginning, the leader provided extensive oversight to the newly transferred subordinate. Although the subordinate appreciated the leader's initial
guidance, the immersing oversight became daunting. The subordinate recognizes that the leader is a micromanager. Further observation concluded that
the leader's control tactics are the result of the leader's fear of making mistakes and unwillingness to accept change as evident in the leader's dictation of
each step in the assignment. The leader rarely utilized the subordinate's ideas, opinions, or solutions. Eventually, the subordinate approaches new
assignments with an altered mindset of how should it be done rather than a collaborative approach that offers diverse ideas and opinions. Consequently,
the subordinate began to lose energy, motivation, and disempowerment in making decisions or using creativity for

Leadership Experience
As a Freshman at UB, I participated in the Leadership House Living Learning Community. Surrounded by thirty other first–year students, we were
encouraged to deeply immerse ourselves in leadership within the Buffalo Community. Through this experience, I committed myself to acommunity
partner, Gloria J. Parks Community Center; I also actively learned what it means to lead through service experiences, as well as in class and
workshop participation. As a result of my time in Leadership House, I am on track to complete my Torch Leadership Certification this semester and
will move on to the advanced certification, Peak. This experience reinforced my pre–existing belief that leadership is more than telling others what to
do, it is serving and understanding the needs of those you are assisting.
Additionally, since fourth grade, I have defined what leadership means for myself through my participation in the worldwide creative problem–solving
competition, Odyssey of the Mind. I operated as a leader and a team member for nine years – through my senior year of high school. Throughout my
work, I learned to take charge in areas that I was well adept and to follow the advice of others in times which I was not as competent. But most
importantly, I learned to identify when I am equipped with the skills to tackle a problem or to follow the lead of another more knowledgeable team
player. During the course of my experience, I learned to welcome new teammates and to

Abstract
The paper records the evolution of the author's thinking on leadership through the course of his work involvement. Leadership is viewed as a dynamic
process which consists formal and informal roles. The process is introduced as an individual recognizes opportunities and urged to answer back to
evolving patterns and pledge action to enable positive change. The dynamics between formal and informal leadership structures and leadership as a
state of mind are conferred.
The following paper shows a reflection on my personal journey and growing understanding of leadership based on my work experience. As I look back

My favorite definition of leadership relics Sun Tzu in the Art of War: "The way [of leadership] means inducing the people to have the same aim as the
leadership, so that they will share death and share life, without fear of danger" (Sun Tzu, 2005, p.43). The definition recognizes the collaborative
dynamic that leader and follower share– both share the benefits and risks in its pursuit. Moreover, Senge's work presented me to systems thinking and
understanding the unified wholeness of organizations. This view was reinforced by my study of Neurolinguistic Programming and Neuro–Semantics,
understanding human communications and the way in which we learn to construct our mental maps of the area. I saw conscious decisions to be
freeing and challenging at the same time. This commitment was a challenging as I began to explore the process of leadership outside the hierarchical
power structure that could command action by positional authority. Now as an independent contributor I found myself able to lead freely in a variety
of ways, highlighting the need of influence in the contexts that I was called for.
I mentally stepped back from the situation and took a look at the business, it's internal and external stakeholders. I would foresee the recede and flow
of people as they enthused about their work, the processes of numerous departments that enabled this organism to be effective. I also realized that minor
issues evolved into major

In the past four years of my life, voluteer work has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind. When I became a voluteer, I had a very vague
notion of leadership. As my high school days come to an end, I am left with the feeling that I have finally come into my own shoes, discovering the
things that are important to me and those that are not. I have found my personal leadership style, and I now pay attention to the leaders I come across
each day. For this reason, voluteering has been both an enlightening and inspiring experience, for I am surrounded by peers, mentors, and the voluteer

I chose this topic because I feel it meets a true community need; too many young people, girls in particular, are falling prey to abusive relationships.
The effects are far–reaching, and the loss of self–esteen that so often occurs leaves invisible scars. I also feel that emotional abuse among young girls
in dating realtionships is far too often ignored, and when it is recognized, many people do not know how to help the young girls deal with it in an
effective manner.
My program, "The Wounds of Words," was held on the campus of areahigh schools. Three women spoke; one was a specialist on dating and domestic
violence, and the other two were survivors of emotionally and physically abusive relationships. Approximately two hundred people attended the
program; some came out of concern for loved ones, others came out of concern for themselves. Regardless of their reasons for coming, I knew as I
listened to the speakers and their courageous stories that if one girl could be saved from the emotional abuse that may await her in the future because
of my program, the program was a success.
I am more resolved than ever to continue working with women's issues; I feel that it is my place as a young woman, as a young leader, to help
someone else see the beauty in herself. I am now thinking of obtaining a minor in Women's Studies at Harvard University and

What defines leadership? There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership including but not limited to the theories of leadership and
how leadership should work. In my opinion, every individual has different ways of confronting situations and there is not one leadership style or
theory that will be flawless for any given situation. However, to be a successful educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the
various theories and styles of leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. Despite the method used to confront a
situation, it's the outcome of success that will determine which leadership style or theory should be used. The following...show more content...

Leadership Experience Analysis Paper

  • 1. Leadership Experience Analysis Paper Assignment 1 Week 3: Leadership Experience Analysis Daniel A. Chintersingh PAD515007VA016 –1128–001 Leadership and Conflict Resolution Professor: Dr Mark PANTALEO October 28, 2012 Leadership is ultimately a social development process. There is a perception that being a young leader can lead to exuberances if temptations and peer pressure is not resisted, and that young public leaders face serious administrative and political challenges. This perception is viewed as a social acceptable norm in the society in which we live. Evident of this is in our constitution which states clearly in Article II, Section 1 "...neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been ...show more content... I have also examined the current political situation in Jamaica. Several young public leaders were brought in when a new administration was formed in January of this year. Currently a tense situation exists between two members of parliament and their constituents. Published information indicates that these men choose the moral high ground of political leadership by not engaging in garrison styled politics. They have refused to join the status quo of their party and may be facing political suicide. First example is that of Damion Crawford. He sought to move away from garrison styled politics and became ostracized by his constituents for not issuing out scare government funds to them. He is also seen as a failure by his political party for his non–corrupt stance and how it has impacted the social media. Even though he is young to public leadership, he is seen as a champion for a better Jamaica, by well thinking Jamaicans. "The problem in Crawford's constituency, which is being played out in so many others, is that they (MPs) were "parachuted" into the constituency at the 11th hour. Some still don't even know their constituency boundaries, the districts, communities or even their key workers, much less the constituents they represent'– (Vaz, D, 2012). A second Observer article states "The NDM said if Crawford was successful in this quest it would "ensure a brighter future for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Leadership Experience–Describe your leadership experiences. Please include organization information, your roles, and length of service. Please limit your response to 3000 characters (~500 words). In the past couple years, I've had multiple leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of America; each one teaching me valuable lessons about being a leader and about life. The most recent one would be serving on the Grand Canyon council as a National Eagle Scout Association and an alumni representative. I've been on each of these for four years now. For the N.E.S.A. (National Eagle Scout Association) my role was to help retain new Eagle Scout to stay active with scouting and not just be done. The way I accomplished this was by putting together service events and had them help organize certain parts of it and act as team leaders as well. After each event, we would meet together and discuss what went well and what didn't go well and what we can do to improve for the next project we would do. With the alumni committee, I am one of the founding members of it for the council. My role with them was more with working with the venturing scout relations of the committee and also in charge of the scholarship board that we put together. In the alumni committee, I would help recruit older venturing scouts (formerly known as explorers) to join the association. One of the ways I would help recruit people to the association was by inviting them to service project and to the meetings we had Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Leadership Is A Personal Journey Essay The study of leadership teaches leaders about what motivates people to work. Thus, it's understood that all motivated employees, and team players will be more productive. Therefore, the study of various theories and models of motivation, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs model, and Herzberg's two factor theory are carefully studied to improve leader's ability to motivate their employees. Also, studyingleadership enables leaders to understand people and the work environment better. However, most importantly, the study of leadership is a personal journey. Helping a person to develop their leadership potentials, which enables one to develop their leadership potentials. Therefore, understanding leadership is really learning about understanding yourself. When I decided to take this leadership class. My expectations were to learn more about myself, how to effectively communicate with difficult people, and become a better leader. My expectations were met. However, I have also learned that I need to develop my interpersonal skills to bring people together. As I reflect over the leadership course, my weaknesses are a need to develop my interpersonal skills, and having an introvert personality. Interpersonal skills are life skills that I use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both individually, and in groups. Steps that I will take to improve my interpersonal skills are expressing more appreciation for team members and support staff, actively listen, slow to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Narrative: My Leadership Experiences Baccalaureate prepared nurse is trained to be leaders in his or her field of practice. This has been the goal of this program from day one. I remember one of our first semester's assignments was to attend a professional meeting organized by a nursing organization in the Phoenix Greater area. The mentorship program conducted by the Student Nurse Associate was a priceless aspect of the program. Mentoring lower–level student and even some of my cohorts has been one of my strongest and enjoyable parts of the whole experience. I started mentoring Mary Le the very first day she got admitted into the nursing program at Grand Canyon University. I was just about to start my final level of the program. To be a good mentor and leader, I needed to be aware of the good qualities of a leader. Although ...show more content... When things go wrong people look up to the leader to come through with answers and react based on the leader's reaction. Mary failed her first exam. She called me crying. I calmed her down and ask for answers to her problem. I remained positive and honest through the whole ordeal. I found out she did not practice with questions before her exam. I advised her to stick with my strategy because it has been tried and tested. She did just that and was successful on subsequent exams and benchmarks. One leadership theory that I like is the situational theory. According to Wolinski (2010), "this theory suggests that different situations require different styles of leadership. That is, to be effective in leadership requires the ability to adapt or adjust one's style to the circumstances of the situation." I am glad through the time of storm, I was able to remain calm and direct Mary what to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. A strong example of my leadership experience is my senior season of football. Following the 2016–2017 academic year, our head coach resigned on short notice and lacked any coach to fill the position. Because he left on such short notice, we didn't have a coach for the first two weeks of the preseason, a crucial developing point in the season. However, a small group of other seniors and I were able to schedule workouts until we got a new coach. This established our group as team leaders and allowed us to lead the team to success in the regular season. I was later named a team captain for my leadership on and off the field. This gave me the ability further lead by example as well as keep the team's morale up in the face of adversity. I ran extra Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Leadership Experience Essay examples Iana Lukina What did I learn from my leadership class? There are lots examples of organizations in which everything seems to be done right, but something is still missing. They have no soul. There is nothing that can breathe life into the administrative system. They exist without faith, love, and hope. They are doomed to such a gray existence, unless there is a person or a team of associates who discover the essence and meaning in this frozen system. Such a person is called a leader and a role in which he operates – leadership. How do people become leaders? With experience, with age or from birth? In order to rise to the top, you need to have everything to climb. A person, who has the courage to go forward or up, needs two things. He...show more content... The second thing is to organize and motivate yourself. I understand how to give myself the best chance to flourish. We can make leaders from ourselves. But the main thing here is that by changing myself, I must always stay myself. You do not need necessary to wear a mask of who you want to be, even if you really want it. It will not lead to good results; you will only inflate your cheeks instead of an objective assessment of your capabilities. We need to use the full power of all the energy, talents and abilities that are given to us. There is no need to wait for the results from reading popular psychological literature with the promising titles like "Leader for the Week", "How quickly to become a millionaire" and etc., biographies of "famous and successful." Moreover it will not be useful to visit courses, where self–styled psychologists, of course, for a large fee, are teaching people how to become successful. Objective assessment of yourselves, your capabilities, coupled with self–development and a clear statement of purpose – that is what is needed. In order to analyze my drawbacks, to accept them (which is itself a step forward) and to uproot it, I find out the following methods: * Talk with my own inside critic. We need to listen to his comments on others and ourselves and objectively contradict him. And even better to have a notebook in which to write down everything he tells you. I should step back and look Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Leadership Experience Effective Leadership The purpose of this personal assessment is to devalue an incident in which I believe I performed my very best, within my leadership capability, according to organizational policies, and lawful regulatory compliance while protecting cultural competence and our organization from any legal repercussions. Business environment will continue evolve and it is pivotal to the success of the organization that all potential leaders acquire the fundamentals of understanding human behaviors within a multicultural atmosphere. Despite who initiated this situation or who escalated the situation, resolution must be determined in the best interest of communication within our environment. • 8. Describe a specific example(s) of your personal growth and development through your leadership experiences in college. See the help text for additional direction. Through my leadership experiences at SCSU, I have grown into a strong, independent, and courage woman. This past spring semester, I took the opportunity to apply and be accepted to present at M.E.Ch.A.'s national conference about my independent studies course that I developed. I never imagined to share my cultural experiences on that level and have professors comment afterward about how they enjoy my presentation. There have been opportunities where I was able to discuss with administrators among other students and our concerns on campus issues facing students of color directly to them. I have met strong, academic leaders and students at conferences that have exposed me to love and embrace my cultural identity, indigenous roots, femininity, strength, and personal struggles. The education program gave me the opportunity to continuelearning in another location for student teaching, which again has exposed me to new experiences, people, environments, and academic challenges. I no longer view challenges as obstacles, rather I view them as tests to help me remember how worth it, the path I am on and pursing, is to me. When I first started my freshman year in fall 2012, I could have never imagined that I would do and come as far as I have. • 9. My experience in the student leadership program was interesting and informative. These are two descriptive words that stand out in my mind about the whole program. There were times in the student leadership program when I questioned myself about being part of the class, but I overcame this once I reflected on the many things that we have learned. From the guest speakers to the projects, the class has always kept me thinking. First, the program was very informative. I took in so much information over the course of the semester that I sometimes feel overwhelmed, but in a good way. From learning how to speak in public to overcoming the potential barrier of diversity, the class informed me on how to become a successful leader in today's...show more content... With so many leaders expressing their feelings and ideas, I thought that opinions would start ethical wars. To mysurprise, everyone in the class respected each other's ideas because everyone realized that we are all important to each other's growth as leaders. The thing that stood out to me the most was the importance and impact of certain guest speakers. Dr. Derek Lane is one in particular that stood out in my mind. His presentation was about risk taking and different leadership styles. He went over how important it was for leaders to sometimes take risks to gain credibility and attention from their followers. I am a strong believer in that aspect of leadership and it helped reassure my own confidence in my style of leadership. The different leadership styles that he expressed helped me develop a sense of where I fall into place in the leadership realm. It explains why I do certain things when I am leading and helps me restrain myself from making mistakes that clash with my leadership style. Ms. Mildred Bailey's presentation on diversity was also very exceptional. She gave us examples on how to deal with diversity in a positive manner. In leadership, diversity must be addressed so a problem is not created. Her examples on life situations and other leadership roles put the class in a relaxing atmosphere that let us speak out about our diversity experiences and problems. I will never forget my experience at Chief Petty Officers Academy (CPOA). The Leadership Practices Inventory was an extremely useful tool. I finally got a chance to get back into a workout routine with new ideas. I had the chance to meet seventy–one people to expand my networking. During the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) class I had the chance to read what everyone had to say about my leadership ability. After getting dismissed from class, I was able to go the gym and do weight training. This is something that I haven't been able to do for some time with long work hours and a commute home. I'm going to make it a priority to continue working out and make it a routine in my lifestyle. Aside from working out, I had the chance to meet seventy–one people to expand my networking. So far in my twelve and a half year career, I haven't had the chance to work with all the different rates the Coast Guard has. In group Patton, we had 7 different rates along with one Air Force rate. • 12. Introduction The reflective paper is about my leadership experience as I utilize Northouse' Skills Approach to match my present style of leadership. The Skills Approach has three underlying skills for effective leadership namely: technical, human and conceptual skills. Through my discussion with the leadership approach, I further describe the manner on how I direct and lead my unit with my technical and human skills with lesser emphasis on conceptual skills. However, as I identify my strengths, I realize my inadequacies requiring the need for improvement. To resolve the shortcomings as a leader, I develop a leadership plan which includes enhancing skills and setting up goals in order to reach the objectives in becoming an effective leader and in aspiring for career advancement. . Leadership Approach In his textbook, Northouse discussed on the Skills Approach, that leadership is based on three skills which are technicalskill that focuses on competence on working with things, human skill that emphasizes on working with people, and conceptual skill that concentrates more on working with ideas. The skills approach suggests that knowledge, abilities and skills are needed for leaders to be effective. To become effective managers or leaders it is important that I acquire the three skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Due to my role as a charge in our unit, I see myself utilizing the technical and human skills more than the conceptual skill. As charge nurse, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some leaders possess positive and motivating behaviors whereas other leaders possess behaviors that are more negative. Negative behaviors can affect creativity deficiencies and alter employee morale. A positive behavior, however, will encourage bringing out the best in others. By doing so, the leader endorses a positive culture that permeates confidence and motivation. The behavior, positive or negative, is the catalyst that drives employee morale and professional growth. The Micromanagement Experience In the beginning, the leader provided extensive oversight to the newly transferred subordinate. Although the subordinate appreciated the leader's initial guidance, the immersing oversight became daunting. The subordinate recognizes that the leader is a micromanager. Further observation concluded that the leader's control tactics are the result of the leader's fear of making mistakes and unwillingness to accept change as evident in the leader's dictation of each step in the assignment. The leader rarely utilized the subordinate's ideas, opinions, or solutions. Eventually, the subordinate approaches new assignments with an altered mindset of how should it be done rather than a collaborative approach that offers diverse ideas and opinions. Consequently, the subordinate began to lose energy, motivation, and disempowerment in making decisions or using creativity for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflection Paper On Leadership Experience Leadership Experience As a Freshman at UB, I participated in the Leadership House Living Learning Community. Surrounded by thirty other first–year students, we were encouraged to deeply immerse ourselves in leadership within the Buffalo Community. Through this experience, I committed myself to acommunity partner, Gloria J. Parks Community Center; I also actively learned what it means to lead through service experiences, as well as in class and workshop participation. As a result of my time in Leadership House, I am on track to complete my Torch Leadership Certification this semester and will move on to the advanced certification, Peak. This experience reinforced my pre–existing belief that leadership is more than telling others what to do, it is serving and understanding the needs of those you are assisting. Additionally, since fourth grade, I have defined what leadership means for myself through my participation in the worldwide creative problem–solving competition, Odyssey of the Mind. I operated as a leader and a team member for nine years – through my senior year of high school. Throughout my work, I learned to take charge in areas that I was well adept and to follow the advice of others in times which I was not as competent. But most importantly, I learned to identify when I am equipped with the skills to tackle a problem or to follow the lead of another more knowledgeable team player. During the course of my experience, I learned to welcome new teammates and to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. A Leadership Journey A LEADERSHIP JOURNEY. Created by SHARATH KUMAR Abstract The paper records the evolution of the author's thinking on leadership through the course of his work involvement. Leadership is viewed as a dynamic process which consists formal and informal roles. The process is introduced as an individual recognizes opportunities and urged to answer back to evolving patterns and pledge action to enable positive change. The dynamics between formal and informal leadership structures and leadership as a state of mind are conferred. The following paper shows a reflection on my personal journey and growing understanding of leadership based on my work experience. As I look back in time, I identify that most of my current interest in leadership...show more content... My favorite definition of leadership relics Sun Tzu in the Art of War: "The way [of leadership] means inducing the people to have the same aim as the leadership, so that they will share death and share life, without fear of danger" (Sun Tzu, 2005, p.43). The definition recognizes the collaborative dynamic that leader and follower share– both share the benefits and risks in its pursuit. Moreover, Senge's work presented me to systems thinking and understanding the unified wholeness of organizations. This view was reinforced by my study of Neurolinguistic Programming and Neuro–Semantics, understanding human communications and the way in which we learn to construct our mental maps of the area. I saw conscious decisions to be freeing and challenging at the same time. This commitment was a challenging as I began to explore the process of leadership outside the hierarchical power structure that could command action by positional authority. Now as an independent contributor I found myself able to lead freely in a variety of ways, highlighting the need of influence in the contexts that I was called for. I mentally stepped back from the situation and took a look at the business, it's internal and external stakeholders. I would foresee the recede and flow of people as they enthused about their work, the processes of numerous departments that enabled this organism to be effective. I also realized that minor issues evolved into major

  • 18. In the past four years of my life, voluteer work has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind. When I became a voluteer, I had a very vague notion of leadership. As my high school days come to an end, I am left with the feeling that I have finally come into my own shoes, discovering the things that are important to me and those that are not. I have found my personal leadership style, and I now pay attention to the leaders I come across each day. For this reason, voluteering has been both an enlightening and inspiring experience, for I am surrounded by peers, mentors, and the voluteer program director, all of whom are leaders with creative visions of their own. At the beginning of the school year, my voluteer project goal was to...show more content... I chose this topic because I feel it meets a true community need; too many young people, girls in particular, are falling prey to abusive relationships. The effects are far–reaching, and the loss of self–esteen that so often occurs leaves invisible scars. I also feel that emotional abuse among young girls in dating realtionships is far too often ignored, and when it is recognized, many people do not know how to help the young girls deal with it in an effective manner. My program, "The Wounds of Words," was held on the campus of areahigh schools. Three women spoke; one was a specialist on dating and domestic violence, and the other two were survivors of emotionally and physically abusive relationships. Approximately two hundred people attended the program; some came out of concern for loved ones, others came out of concern for themselves. Regardless of their reasons for coming, I knew as I listened to the speakers and their courageous stories that if one girl could be saved from the emotional abuse that may await her in the future because of my program, the program was a success. I am more resolved than ever to continue working with women's issues; I feel that it is my place as a young woman, as a young leader, to help someone else see the beauty in herself. I am now thinking of obtaining a minor in Women's Studies at Harvard University and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Reflection Paper On Leadership Leadership Paper What defines leadership? There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership including but not limited to the theories of leadership and how leadership should work. In my opinion, every individual has different ways of confronting situations and there is not one leadership style or theory that will be flawless for any given situation. However, to be a successful educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the various theories and styles of leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. Despite the method used to confront a situation, it's the outcome of success that will determine which leadership style or theory should be used. The following...show more content...
