march 2014.
Three staff attended on the first day, only. Manager Asaph missed the 2 days.
Objective of the Training
The staffs were given a sheet of paper to write whatever thy wanted to learn and master that
enabled the trainer to identify their skills proficiency levels which all indicated that they wanted
the same skills according to their sheet of paper.
It should however be noted that all the trainees wanted the same skills i.e. so they were not
divided we had one group

4.0 Attendance of the Entire Training
It was observed that the overall attendance was excellent though two staff were on and off I.e. Asaph
Niwabiine Manager and Matsiko Moses Accountant but later the Two were taken through the areas
they had missed.
5.0 Challenges Faced
i. Short Interval Power Disruptions. There were power disruptions, which used to interfere with
the training especially changing of power source from UMEME to SOLAR and vice versa. The wiring
of the building on SOLAR is not proper as there is a lot of short circuit when you touch computers we
were using.
ii. Lack of centralized Internet Access. There is no network within NYAKYERA SACCO LTD offices,
which hindered training that needed Internet access to all the computers. The staff were using
smart Phone for wireless on all the laptops which also could not be stable because of the network
then sharing a modem which slowed down the training greatly. We had to move away from
Nyakyera premises to the Sub county where we got the network this really extended the Topic of
Internet to more than one day
iii. Limited Number of Computers. Since not all the staff has computers to use in their daily roles,
practicing was a challenge especially for the staff; they had problems getting the time to practice in
the absence of the laptops LOGOS provided. No staff could identify where the Mouse of Laptop
Logos brought were, only Manager had a laptop when it comes to sending documents on internet
they all wait that one Laptop computer. The Sacco should increase the salary of the staff or procure
laptops on their behalf and they deduct on the salary to cop up with the changing Technology.
iv. Lack of a Convenient Training Area. The Flat monitor provided by NYAKYERA had a poor display
and small in inches could not display well and on top of that the room the training took place was
too small for 7 people and it being an office of the manager so manager was left without office for a
full week also it being a SACCO so many clients enter then noise. So really this gave us hard time
coordinating the staff then Nyakyera clients.
v. Seriousness from the staff. The staff really need to understand the importance of these trainings
as much as the Sacco provides it to the staff, they should take it serious because they are improving

their skills which gives them credit from other people incase of Job skills and asking where they feel
have not understood more so being open to the trainer.
5.0 Comments from the Staff
i. Nyakyera Sacco ltd should procure enough computers for all the staff to use since now they can use
them and also need to practice so they do not lose the skills obtained. Currently they have one
laptop and four Desktop computers, which are not enough for the staff no Nyakyera Staff has a
computer at home really that means from work there is no more looking at the computer
ii. LOGOS should provide monthly fallow up of the clients in NYAKYERA to improve their skills and
mastering what they have been trained on top of that communication should be active calling
Nyakyera staff and finding out where they are finding problems in using the computers and the
packages they were taught
iii. LOGOS should provide the staff with notes, practice exercises, etc. so they can read further on their
own and also practice so they do not miss out on the skills obtained which may not be immediately
used but useful for future purposes.
iv. LOGOS should give each staff tests and avail them marks to see how they are progressing as the
training builds up and where their skills lie.
6.0 Recommendations from LOGOS
i. NYAKYERA SACCO LTD should procure enough computers for each staff so that they can begin to
carryout manual roles on the computer, this shall improve their experience and efficiency on the
job.
ii. NYAKYERA SACCO LTD should invest in networking all its computers on a LAN stretching to all
offices with an affordable reliable internet access to enable sharing of information and resources
saving both time and cost.
iii. NYAKYERA SACCO LTD should incorporate training fees on its quarterly budgets. Such regular short
weekend workshops (2 day) enable the staff to become very proficient in a consistent and quicker
manner. LOGOS has noted that these short follow-up workshops go a long way in bridging emerging
skills gaps.
iv. NYAKYERA SACCO LTD should be trained Administrative & management skills of resources or
infrastructure like computers, printers network cables they are scattered everywhere in office and
the SACCO it self is too much congested and employees too may not really know what is going on in
the SACCO (office management) things to do with queue in the SACCO, Order)

The first part of the training was a success amidst the above-mentioned challenges faced. LOGOS
strongly advises the management of NYAKYERA SACCO LTD to carefully look into comments brought
forward by the staff in line with the technical recommendations from LOGOS.
NB.
It should be noted that this is draft report pending approval from the NYAKYERA SACCO LTD management
which will be followed by the final report with amendments if need be but shall serve the purpose of a
complete report in fulfillment of the Short Term Training Agreement dated 5th
March 2013.
