The Importance Of Family In Literature
What they passed down. Family stands as a strong theme in literature. It can be explored as the apple doesn't fall far from the tree to deep rooted
family problems. It's no wonder why family is so often the focus in literary pieces, family is a defining thing growing up. Family teaches you
everything from tying your shoes to the meaning of love. Two literary pieces that explore family are "Fool for Love" by Sam Shepard and "The Woman
Upstairs" by Claire Messud. The main character in "The Woman Upstairs" is named Nora. She was raised by her two parents and her mother stands
a strong influence on her character. Growing up the author tells of how "my mother stayed at home and smoked cigarettes and hatched schemes" (pg.
20). It would appear from the first introduction of this character that the narrators seems to think of her mother as being unfulfilled. Her mother
throughout the book tells Nora to not be dependent on a man, and to make her own money. This idea is first introduced when Nora's mother said
"You need to have your own life, earn your own money, so you're not scrounging around like a beggar, trying to put ten dollars together for your kids'
Christmas presents. Leeching off your father's – or your husband's pathetic paycheck. Never. Never. Promise me" (pg. 54), this theme would continue
throughout Nora's life. Another memory that struck Nora was with her mother and a fortune cookie she remembered that "the fortune read 'it is what
you haven't done that will torment you' – which I knew only because I picked it up off the floor on the way out. When she read it she gave a little cry,
as if wounded, and crumpled and chucked it and then became very silent, and for the last ten minutes of the meal I watched the tears trickle
unacknowledged out of the corner of her eyes and down her cheeks" (pg. 56). Nora's memories of her mother stand as moments of impact on her
life. She did not want to become her mother and her mother did not want her to become her either. The author truly show's this impact when Nora
is discussing the first few years of her life after college. Nora is at a high paying job, and engaged to a sweet man named Ben. Her reflection states that
"I had a love, and a love affair with a worldly

Essay about My Family Heritage
My Family Heritage
Family Defined
The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more
children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as
a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not
always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the
traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended family which includes...show more content...
William, known as Bill, was born on July 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked in the plaster/stucco business for over 25 years before working
at Northwest Airlines. His wife's maiden name was Lorraine Mulcahy. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. Lorraine went to
college at the University of Minnesota where she got her Bachelor of Science degree and became a dental hygienist. My grandma "Lo" is the
genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get
some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents
were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great
Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron.
Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100% Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was
adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100%
Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25% Norwegian.

The Importance Of Family Culture
Your family identity is who you are as a family, the values or beliefs learned from parents, daily routine of habits, religious activities, and special
traditions created that is celebrated or conducted year after year is the family culture you create. Knowing who you are and where you came from is
an important part of our cultural history, knowing our origins gives us the ability to increase cross–cultural awareness and understanding. By learning
the causes and effects of past events, one can employ improved processes to deal with conflict or enhance a healthier lifestyle, profession, or business
culture (eNotes.com, Inc., 2009). Reflecting on family culture (values), chores was a huge part, learning the importance of home and ground care, like
gardening and then spiritually through religious beliefs. These core family foundations instill the basics of responsibility in the home and community
which in turn is an anchor becoming an adult in the working world.
In a team environment, individual values do not change, adaptability of behaviors is needed to fit within the group. The culturally intelligent way is to
try to understand teammates and flex behavior to create a win–win situation by building a common understanding, trust, and commitment utilizing
common ground rules (Hoogendoorn, 2013).

Speech On Importance Of Family
The Importance of Family:
Is the family is dying institution? Some observers say yes, arguing that the family is doomed. The family according to arguments contributes more
misery than benefits because it is all adapted the modern social life. A family is a group united by marriage, blood and adaption in order to satisfy
intimacy needs, bear and socialize children. Afamily becomes a problem when it does not fulfill its purposes, particularly its purpose as a primary
group. After birth, our self image comes from our primary caregiver's eyes and that is our family. The family is the most ancient of human institutions.
It is bound up with all our strongest instincts. A genuinely united family is one of the greatest possible sources of happiness....show more content...
The man is the guardian of the members of his family and he shall be questioned about them the wife is the guardian of her children and the members

about the concerned people." (Bukhari)
Families also pass down cultural traditions from one generation to another including language, beliefs, religion, knowledge and rituals. Through the
teaching of families, children mature and learn how to survive outside the family. Within the family, children learn how to survive outside the family.
They learn about gender roles, peer relationships, and responsibility to self and others. Moreover, they learn to develop work ethic and first realize
their potential. Sigmund Freud said: "A healthy person is one who knows how to play and work" and it is through the family that children develop
skills with which to play and work in a life long journey toward accomplishing these

The Importance Of A Strong Family Relationships
Strong Family Relationships
A family, by definition, is a fundamental social unit consisting of parents and children who typically live together. However, many would argue that a
family is more than that; a family is a group of people willing to do anything for each other because they truly love and care for one another no matter
what. Strong families create relationships based on unconditional love and rely on their family bond when trials arise. Emotional success, or control
over one's emotions during trials and challenges that emerge when striving to achieve one's purpose and goals, is necessary for life. Strong family
relationships are imperative to emotional success.
Loyalty, trust, gratitude, and love are essential core values in a strong family relationship. Without these core values, the bond between a family
remains weak and eventually falls apart. Family loyalty is an essential value in a person's lives meaning, each and every member of the family
remains loyal to all other family members. Making sure to be there in every situation is what truly counts in a family (Strengthen the Family `Bond`).
Loyalty in a family means that family always comes first, even if members must make sacrifices in other areas of life. "Loyalty builds through sickness
and health, want and good fortune, failure and success, and all the things the family faces." (Advocatesforyouth.org). Families that are there for each
other through the high times and the lows build loyalty

THE PROBLEM AND ITS STUDY
1. Introduction
Family is very important part of our everyday life. It helps us in improving our personality. It also helps us in shaping our life. It teaches us the value
of love, affection, care, truthfulness and self–confidence and provides us tools and suggestions which are necessary to get success in life.
Family is a place where you can be yourself. It is a place where you are accepted for what you are. This is where you are completely tension free and
everyone is there to help you. Family encourages you when you are surrounded by problems. It helps you survive through tough times and bring joy
and happiness into life.

Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on
your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important
part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As
the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the
importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost
always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life.
The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in
your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education
background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. Similarly, for example,
children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and

The Importance Of Family In Literature
Family is often defined in most literature as just a mother and father and children living under the same roof. Although many perceive this to be true,
family is now branching out beyond blood relatives. Outlooks of family have been relevant in some literature, influencing the idea of family throughout
centuries. These sources include Into the Wild, "The Obsession of Chris McCandless", and "To Build a Fire". These sources challenge the idea of family
and what it means, revealing a new outlook on family. This allows mankind to ask what family really is, thus, asking if family is truly needed in one's
everyday life, or if it's exigent relationship.
The literature on family suggests that it brings support to burdensome situations in two important ways. First, some of literature states that family
gives unconscious mental support. Jack London, in his novel "To Build a Fire", discusses the idea of the wolf and its ancestors leading it through
life. London states that "This man did not know cold. Possibly all the generations of his ancestors had been ignorant of cold, of real cold, of cold
one hundred and seven degrees below freezing point. But the dog knew; all its ancestry knew, and it inherited the knowledge."(420). Here London
seems to relate the man's lack of knowledge on coldness to his lack of family. By repeating the word cold, London emphasizes the break between this
man and the cold. The repetition of cold can be thought of as the bond between family. Showing how

Reflection on Family
Family Reflection
"No one is ever born into Life alone. Everyone has shared the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many people it is a bond that will follow them
throughout life. For many people it is the most important bond of all."
Family means many things to different people, yet the word itself can bring about a host of emotions from anyone who hears the word uttered. As a
child growing up in the 60s and 70s the family dynamic was defined by the people we grew up with were related to by blood, and extended to the many
family members of the different generations that made up the family unit.
I have fond memories of growing up with love and compassion, by the people who I was surrounded with. The feeling of...show more content...
The people may be different, but, the bonds will grow and develop in our existence.
I remember the feeling of completeness and security I had growing up with my mom, dad, grandparents, and extended family members. I always
felt like I belonged and was accepted for me. People are not perfect, sometimes in actions and words, but, knowing the unconditional love that we
are surrounded with by our families keeps us grounded in our true selves. Now that I am older, I feel the same security that I experienced while
growing up. A familiarity of comfort that brings me to a place of peace and security. My own comfort zone where I am loved, happy, cared for and
needed.
A family can be defined in many ways, but the common denominator in all is the love and fulfillment one gets by being surrounded by family
members. Families can sometimes be at odds with each other, but the strain of this type of relationship usually creates an upsetting feeling to the
people involved. People want others to rely on, talk to, do things with, share, love, embrace, and be part of. No matter what the family dynamic is the
qualities the word family has will remain the same, as time goes by, and life evolves once again for every person living their

The Importance Of Family Traditions
It's very important to set up a family tradition because it often tell a story about a family and it identifies who your family is and how they're different
from other families. Traditions can also bridge together gaps between generations, and it unites family members to spend more time together. Which is
why some of our family traditions that we spend together would be Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New year's. On Thanksgiving Day, our family
friends would always invite us to their house. Since we we're always invited my mom and I would start days before preparing the ham. We would
slow cook the ham and prepare it. My mom and I would also make sweet potato with marshmallows on the top (not sure what's It called). Then later
at night we would go to our family friends house with some other friends and we would start praying and saying what were all thankful for, and
would start to go around the table getting portions of food such as Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and mac and cheese. Then after we were
done with our food we would start doing our black Friday shopping. We would start by going to Best Buy and get the best deals in the stores, then we
would go to Memorial City Mall and shop clothing, buy gift cards and buy stuff for my mom, dad, brother and girlfriend. Which is how my family
would end our thanksgiving tradition. Our Christmas traditions doesn't start on Christmas day but it starts on Christmas eve. Me and my dad usually

Importance of Family
As soon as the man steps in this world, the first individuals he comes across are his family members (obviously excluding the hospital staffJ). The first
individual is the mother who has taken great pain to bring him to this world. Then is the father who is always there to care for him. Then come the
siblings.
The word family has multiple meanings in dictionary. It is 'a social unit living together' or 'parents and their children, considered as a group, whether
dwelling together or not'. In a broader term, relatives can also be added to this group. But it is much more than that. Family is the first learning place

The family systems works like a chain. Younger people learn from elders while elders depend on their kids for a lot of things. When kids grow up,
get married and have their own children, the whole cycle is repeated again. Family members will always come to your rescue whenever you need
them. They always support you in different ways whether it be financial or moral. You can always share your problems with your family and you
always find a better solution for your problems after a discussion in the house. We can't make it out without our family in life. It is one of the
greatest blessings of God. We often meet people who lost their family for one reason or the other. We have noticed that such people have a very
imbalanced personality, mainly because their family was not there when it was needed. People who leave their family and go out to the world to do
everything on their own, often turn to be the bad characters of the society. This is because they lack the training they missed from the family. Even if
one of the parents is missing, it makes a huge difference in developing personality of a child. There is always something lacking in them.
When you are disillusioned by the outside world, your family is always there to fall back on. You family always accepts you with all your mistakes
and weaknesses and still loves you. No one in the world would do that. There is never a substitute for the love of a mother,

The Importance Of Friends And Family Essay
Friends or Family? – Who is more important?
I believe that friends and family are the true cause of happiness. When you have friends and family, you have those who care for you. When you have
them, you don't really need anything else. When you have a family and some really good friends, you know that they will always be there for you. You
know that you can always count on them, and you definitely know that you can trust them with a secret or anything personal. When you are surrounded
by them, you realize that nothing in the world can ever replace them. But, what is more important to have in your life? Friends or family? Let's be
honest. Friends are not a forever thing, they are only a temporary thing. Friends argue about the most dumbest things, and can change up on you
without any reason. A lot things can happen in afriendship that cause conflict in your life, which you don't need. Many friendships are destined to
come to an end, and the friend will be lost, but why? Some friends choose to keep the conflict that was bestowed before them and won't let it go.
They make it harder on themselves to let go of the past and focus on their future.you can also lose your friends by the lack of time you and also your
friend have in their lives anymore. Whether it is school, work, or even their own family, time is hard to find for your friends. Friendships don't last
forever even if we want to keep them! It's sad but true, that happens everyday. You can be friends with someone

The Importance Of Family Values
The most important thing to do as a parent is create family values. One way to establish family values is to spend time together as a family. Another
way to create family values is to talk to your children on a regular basis so they are able to express themselves. While reading the article "Defining Your
Family Values", it gave suggestions such as meeting up with your family at least once a week to express your feelings and hardships in your life.
This article went into detail about how we have 3 essential parts of life: work, play, and love. Our life can become stressful when we focus on one
more than the other. In the article "We Are What We See", the author talks about how if you do not form emotional bonds with your children that they

The most common place children learn family values is when they are spending time with their family. Family is the first group of people a child
comes into contact with so the child's family is ultimately the people who teach them the most. Children also learn their values through seeing what
their family values most, and through learning life lessons and overcoming them. Once they get sent off to preschool, teachers are in charge of
being their role model. If they are taught no values, then they could possibly come into class and show their peers negative behavior and their peers
might be influenced. From the articles I read, one topic that was very interesting to me was the fact that you have to set a good example in order for
them to follow along. I think that is interesting because for the first few years of their life children learn by seeing things around them. So if their
family repeatedly does something wrong, it influences the child. I also thought that it was interesting that the same article talked about how children
used to be treated before they knew anything about child development. Recently, we do not have that "protected" age anymore because of social
media. Children are being exposed to things they should not be exposed to. Finally, I read 2 articles about family values that both had the same ideas
and also had different details within the main idea. One article was entitled "Family Values; What Children Learn From Parents"

What Is A Family? Essay
For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered
to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist
and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different
theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group
characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show

An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation
of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next
generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as
universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the
family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by
marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside
the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear
family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists
have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for
the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the

For example, I love to go to the nearest park with my son and husband in a Sunday morning. He definitely love it, we don't spend any money and enjoy
the beautiful nature outside. This is an amazing way to commune with each other and our surroundings. We live in such a frenetic, hectic, world where
we're constantly being bombarded with media from all directions. The solitude and peacefulness of nature fosters family togetherness and makes

Importance Of Family In Literature
"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them" (Tutu). The common author's purpose that was found all throughout the
literature is the importance of family. The definition of family is, a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head or a group
of persons of common ancestry (Merriam Webster Dictionary). The wordfamily comes from the Latin word Famulus, which means "servant." Family
is commonly used as a noun for a group of people with relation. Some similar words could be "clan" or "tribe". Family is important because they are
the "backbone" that people rely on for support in life. Likewise there are times when life has hardships and people rely on their family to help them
through these hard times. Some examples in the real–world could be some sort of injury. Often times an injury can really bring someone down and
depress them. That is why families are there to support them and help get them through the tough times. Death will also help to bring families together
and grow the bond between them. Family is always there for anyone who needs it. They give advice and help us find solutions to any situation. The
first example of literature is I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, written by Maya Angelou. This nonfiction text is about the life of Maya Angelou. She

Family Essay : The Importance Of Family
The importance of family can be comforting and surprising. My parents had made the choice to go back to countries where my family is. At the time
I did not realize the importance it was going to be for me in the future. As, I went to my family's I realized how important they are to me.
My parents had decided to go back to see my family in Europe. I had gone before in kindergarten and remembered little. I was joyful at the time to
travel and see my family since I don't have many in the states. I love to fly and go on trips, so I was very fortunate for my family. We flew on a plane
over to the first country. I got to sit next to my dad, I was happy.
We landed and took a cab to my Aunt and Uncle's house. A lot of things were different here and I loved it. I love to experience new things. My Aunt
and Uncle invited us in with big hugs into their home. We talked a lot before heading out to see the city. We were able to go across the country to see
family. I was so astonished with how much family I had. We saw their homes and the places where they live their regular lives. One time my aunt
told me to go with my cousins to walk over to this little store to grab milk. Me and my cousins ran over and payed him the money for milk. He talked
to my cousins as a friend, and I could imagine doing this with them all the time.
I was going all over staying in my family's homes or in hotels. We did the things they do on a regular. Like taking the train for example, which is so
much more fun than the Metro. We went to places where they eat and walked around the cities. I even went to my cousins work, she owns a dance
studio. She showed me around and told me how everything works. In these moments I could imagine myself living there and became attached to this
life style.
After, I saw much of my family I didn't even realize I had before when I was back "Home" In America. Before The trip I had always thought of my
family as small and not as close. I had friends with family at home and I had always wanted that. I realized then I had it, it was just not close to me
like everyone else's family around me.
I had walked into every family members with a smile, and they had done the same for me. My family genuinely looked happy to see me.

Family Is The Most Important Thing?
Everyday, people put their lives on the line to do what is correct in their eyes and in the eyes of others. For most people, family, religion, and
freedom comes before anything else. Obligation toward family is the most important thing because family is always there for us, help us when we are
in need, love us no matter what, and always put us as a top priority in their life. When you are born an Asian family, customs and traditional ways are
things which people depends on to develop. They are very wonderful and that is something that should reside in people 's hearts. In my country

the author himself. According to Child Abuse Network Center, the amount of child abuse is increasing each year. Although it was less in the past, the
significance of the effect that child abuse causes, has not changed over years. Here again, family is what a person receives the largest effect and is
something that each individual should honor about being a member of their own family. This is why Dave was so miserably poor that he grew up in a
family which he couldn?ft honor.
The author of My Left Foot, Christy Brown, was born in Crumlin, Dublin, in 1932 as one of thirteen children. He suffered from cerebral palsy and
was considered mentally disabled until he snatched a piece of chalk from his sister with his left foot. During this time people have struggled under
severe economic depression that exploded in 1930?fs in Ireland. Family of Christy Brown was not an exceptional, so the family struggled with
poverty. However their family strength was very strong as Christy

The Importance Of Family In Literature

  • 1. The Importance Of Family In Literature What they passed down. Family stands as a strong theme in literature. It can be explored as the apple doesn't fall far from the tree to deep rooted family problems. It's no wonder why family is so often the focus in literary pieces, family is a defining thing growing up. Family teaches you everything from tying your shoes to the meaning of love. Two literary pieces that explore family are "Fool for Love" by Sam Shepard and "The Woman Upstairs" by Claire Messud. The main character in "The Woman Upstairs" is named Nora. She was raised by her two parents and her mother stands a strong influence on her character. Growing up the author tells of how "my mother stayed at home and smoked cigarettes and hatched schemes" (pg. 20). It would appear from the first introduction of this character that the narrators seems to think of her mother as being unfulfilled. Her mother throughout the book tells Nora to not be dependent on a man, and to make her own money. This idea is first introduced when Nora's mother said "You need to have your own life, earn your own money, so you're not scrounging around like a beggar, trying to put ten dollars together for your kids' Christmas presents. Leeching off your father's – or your husband's pathetic paycheck. Never. Never. Promise me" (pg. 54), this theme would continue throughout Nora's life. Another memory that struck Nora was with her mother and a fortune cookie she remembered that "the fortune read 'it is what you haven't done that will torment you' – which I knew only because I picked it up off the floor on the way out. When she read it she gave a little cry, as if wounded, and crumpled and chucked it and then became very silent, and for the last ten minutes of the meal I watched the tears trickle unacknowledged out of the corner of her eyes and down her cheeks" (pg. 56). Nora's memories of her mother stand as moments of impact on her life. She did not want to become her mother and her mother did not want her to become her either. The author truly show's this impact when Nora is discussing the first few years of her life after college. Nora is at a high paying job, and engaged to a sweet man named Ben. Her reflection states that "I had a love, and a love affair with a worldly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay about My Family Heritage My Family Heritage Family Defined The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the traditional family, which includes a mother, father, and their biological children. Next, is the blended family which includes...show more content... William, known as Bill, was born on July 20, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked in the plaster/stucco business for over 25 years before working at Northwest Airlines. His wife's maiden name was Lorraine Mulcahy. Lorraine was born on August 13, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. Lorraine went to college at the University of Minnesota where she got her Bachelor of Science degree and became a dental hygienist. My grandma "Lo" is the genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get some information on my great–grandparents and family stories. I found out I was part Norwegian and I never even knew it! Grandma Lo's parents were Edward Mulcahy and Olga Shermoen. Her father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron. Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100% Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100% Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25% Norwegian. Father's side My father's name is Gerald Otto Utz. He was born on January 23, 1950 in Springfield, MN. He is

The Importance Of Family Culture Your family identity is who you are as a family, the values or beliefs learned from parents, daily routine of habits, religious activities, and special traditions created that is celebrated or conducted year after year is the family culture you create. Knowing who you are and where you came from is an important part of our cultural history, knowing our origins gives us the ability to increase cross–cultural awareness and understanding. By learning the causes and effects of past events, one can employ improved processes to deal with conflict or enhance a healthier lifestyle, profession, or business culture (eNotes.com, Inc., 2009). Reflecting on family culture (values), chores was a huge part, learning the importance of home and ground care, like gardening and then spiritually through religious beliefs. These core family foundations instill the basics of responsibility in the home and community which in turn is an anchor becoming an adult in the working world. In a team environment, individual values do not change, adaptability of behaviors is needed to fit within the group. The culturally intelligent way is to try to understand teammates and flex behavior to create a win–win situation by building a common understanding, trust, and commitment utilizing common ground rules (Hoogendoorn, 2013). • 5. Speech On Importance Of Family The Importance of Family: Is the family is dying institution? Some observers say yes, arguing that the family is doomed. The family according to arguments contributes more misery than benefits because it is all adapted the modern social life. A family is a group united by marriage, blood and adaption in order to satisfy intimacy needs, bear and socialize children. Afamily becomes a problem when it does not fulfill its purposes, particularly its purpose as a primary group. After birth, our self image comes from our primary caregiver's eyes and that is our family. The family is the most ancient of human institutions. It is bound up with all our strongest instincts. (Bukhari) Families also pass down cultural traditions from one generation to another including language, beliefs, religion, knowledge and rituals. Through the teaching of families, children mature and learn how to survive outside the family. Within the family, children learn how to survive outside the family. They learn about gender roles, peer relationships, and responsibility to self and others. Moreover, they learn to develop work ethic and first realize their potential. • 6. The Importance Of A Strong Family Relationships Strong Family Relationships A family, by definition, is a fundamental social unit consisting of parents and children who typically live together. However, many would argue that a family is more than that; a family is a group of people willing to do anything for each other because they truly love and care for one another no matter what. Strong families create relationships based on unconditional love and rely on their family bond when trials arise. Emotional success, or control over one's emotions during trials and challenges that emerge when striving to achieve one's purpose and goals, is necessary for life. Strong family relationships are imperative to emotional success. Loyalty, trust, gratitude, and love are essential core values in a strong family relationship. Without these core values, the bond between a family remains weak and eventually falls apart. Family loyalty is an essential value in a person's lives meaning, each and every member of the family remains loyal to all other family members. Making sure to be there in every situation is what truly counts in a family (Strengthen the Family `Bond`). Loyalty in a family means that family always comes first, even if members must make sacrifices in other areas of life. "Loyalty builds through sickness and health, want and good fortune, failure and success, and all the things the family faces." (Advocatesforyouth.org). Families that are there for each other through the high times and the lows build loyalty Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life. The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. • 8. The Importance Of Family In Literature Family is often defined in most literature as just a mother and father and children living under the same roof. Although many perceive this to be true, family is now branching out beyond blood relatives. Outlooks of family have been relevant in some literature, influencing the idea of family throughout centuries. These sources include Into the Wild, "The Obsession of Chris McCandless", and "To Build a Fire". These sources challenge the idea of family and what it means, revealing a new outlook on family. This allows mankind to ask what family really is, thus, asking if family is truly needed in one's everyday life, or if it's exigent relationship. The literature on family suggests that it brings support to burdensome situations in two important ways. First, some of literature states that family gives unconscious mental support. Jack London, in his novel "To Build a Fire", discusses the idea of the wolf and its ancestors leading it through life. London states that "This man did not know cold. Possibly all the generations of his ancestors had been ignorant of cold, of real cold, of cold one hundred and seven degrees below freezing point. But the dog knew; all its ancestry knew, and it inherited the knowledge."(420). Here London seems to relate the man's lack of knowledge on coldness to his lack of family. By repeating the word cold, London emphasizes the break between this man and the cold. The repetition of cold can be thought of as the bond between family. • 9. Reflection on Family Family Reflection "No one is ever born into Life alone. Everyone has shared the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many people it is a bond that will follow them throughout life. For many people it is the most important bond of all." Family means many things to different people, yet the word itself can bring about a host of emotions from anyone who hears the word uttered. As a child growing up in the 60s and 70s the family dynamic was defined by the people we grew up with were related to by blood, and extended to the many family members of the different generations that made up the family unit. I always felt like I belonged and was accepted for me. People are not perfect, sometimes in actions and words, but, knowing the unconditional love that we are surrounded with by our families keeps us grounded in our true selves. Now that I am older, I feel the same security that I experienced while growing up. A familiarity of comfort that brings me to a place of peace and security. My own comfort zone where I am loved, happy, cared for and needed. A family can be defined in many ways, but the common denominator in all is the love and fulfillment one gets by being surrounded by family members. Families can sometimes be at odds with each other, but the strain of this type of relationship usually creates an upsetting feeling to the people involved. People want others to rely on, talk to, do things with, share, love, embrace, and be part of. No matter what the family dynamic is the qualities the word family has will remain the same, as time goes by, and life evolves once again for every person living their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. The Importance Of Family Traditions It's very important to set up a family tradition because it often tell a story about a family and it identifies who your family is and how they're different from other families. Traditions can also bridge together gaps between generations, and it unites family members to spend more time together. Which is why some of our family traditions that we spend together would be Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New year's. On Thanksgiving Day, our family friends would always invite us to their house. Since we we're always invited my mom and I would start days before preparing the ham. We would slow cook the ham and prepare it. My mom and I would also make sweet potato with marshmallows on the top (not sure what's It called). Then later at night we would go to our family friends house with some other friends and we would start praying and saying what were all thankful for, and would start to go around the table getting portions of food such as Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and mac and cheese. Then after we were done with our food we would start doing our black Friday shopping. We would start by going to Best Buy and get the best deals in the stores, then we would go to Memorial City Mall and shop clothing, buy gift cards and buy stuff for my mom, dad, brother and girlfriend. Which is how my family would end our thanksgiving tradition. Our Christmas traditions doesn't start on Christmas day but it starts on Christmas eve. • 11. Importance of Family As soon as the man steps in this world, the first individuals he comes across are his family members (obviously excluding the hospital staffJ). The first individual is the mother who has taken great pain to bring him to this world. Then is the father who is always there to care for him. Then come the siblings. The word family has multiple meanings in dictionary. It is 'a social unit living together' or 'parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not'. In a broader term, relatives can also be added to this group. But it is much more than that. Family is the first learning place of an individual in this world. People who leave their family and go out to the world to do everything on their own, often turn to be the bad characters of the society. This is because they lack the training they missed from the family. Even if one of the parents is missing, it makes a huge difference in developing personality of a child. There is always something lacking in them. When you are disillusioned by the outside world, your family is always there to fall back on. • 13. The Importance Of Family Values The most important thing to do as a parent is create family values. One way to establish family values is to spend time together as a family. Another way to create family values is to talk to your children on a regular basis so they are able to express themselves. While reading the article "Defining Your Family Values", it gave suggestions such as meeting up with your family at least once a week to express your feelings and hardships in your life. This article went into detail about how we have 3 essential parts of life: work, play, and love. Our life can become stressful when we focus on one more than the other. In the article "We Are What We See", the author talks about how if you do not form emotional bonds with your children that they ...show more content... The most common place children learn family values is when they are spending time with their family. Family is the first group of people a child comes into contact with so the child's family is ultimately the people who teach them the most. Children also learn their values through seeing what their family values most, and through learning life lessons and overcoming them. Once they get sent off to preschool, teachers are in charge of being their role model. If they are taught no values, then they could possibly come into class and show their peers negative behavior and their peers might be influenced. From the articles I read, one topic that was very interesting to me was the fact that you have to set a good example in order for them to follow along. I think that is interesting because for the first few years of their life children learn by seeing things around them. So if their family repeatedly does something wrong, it influences the child. I also thought that it was interesting that the same article talked about how children used to be treated before they knew anything about child development. Recently, we do not have that "protected" age anymore because of social media. Children are being exposed to things they should not be exposed to. Finally, I read 2 articles about family values that both had the same ideas and also had different details within the main idea. One article was entitled "Family Values; What Children Learn From Parents" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. What Is A Family? Essay For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

As a parent, I believe that is my job to foster the bond between siblings, as well as parent and child. I use many ways to help my child realize that family is very important. This understanding will remain with him as he grows up, marry, and embark on parenthood himself. My first method is very simple and very effective too. But there are ways of bonding as a family without having to spend a lot of money, or even no money at all. For example, I love to go to the nearest park with my son and husband in a Sunday morning. He definitely love it, we don't spend any money and enjoy the beautiful nature outside. This is an amazing way to commune with each other and our surroundings. We live in such a frenetic, hectic, world where we're constantly being bombarded with media from all directions. The solitude and peacefulness of nature fosters family togetherness and makes memories that will bolster my son's sense of self and confidence throughout his lives. Another one of my favorite family–building activities is going on vacation together. Because I'm a full time student, part time worker and my kid is young, it's easier to go on a bunch of shorter, closer vacations throughout the year than one or two big distant vacations. I know this will change as he grows older but for now, I love heading out on little mini–adventures once or twice a month with my whole family, including my husband's grandmother. We enjoy visiting the zoo, the beach, museums, historic sites, and parks. Going on a country drive or a bus ride through the city is another Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Family Essay : The Importance Of Family The importance of family can be comforting and surprising. My parents had made the choice to go back to countries where my family is. At the time I did not realize the importance it was going to be for me in the future. As, I went to my family's I realized how important they are to me. My parents had decided to go back to see my family in Europe. I had gone before in kindergarten and remembered little. I was joyful at the time to travel and see my family since I don't have many in the states. I love to fly and go on trips, so I was very fortunate for my family. We flew on a plane over to the first country. I got to sit next to my dad, I was happy. We landed and took a cab to my Aunt and Uncle's house. A lot of things were different here and I loved it. I love to experience new things. My Aunt and Uncle invited us in with big hugs into their home. We talked a lot before heading out to see the city. We were able to go across the country to see family. I was so astonished with how much family I had. We saw their homes and the places where they live their regular lives. One time my aunt told me to go with my cousins to walk over to this little store to grab milk. Me and my cousins ran over and payed him the money for milk. He talked to my cousins as a friend, and I could imagine doing this with them all the time. I was going all over staying in my family's homes or in hotels. We did the things they do on a regular. Like taking the train for example, which is so much more fun than the Metro. We went to places where they eat and walked around the cities. I even went to my cousins work, she owns a dance studio. She showed me around and told me how everything works. In these moments I could imagine myself living there and became attached to this life style. After, I saw much of my family I didn't even realize I had before when I was back "Home" In America. Before The trip I had always thought of my family as small and not as close. I had friends with family at home and I had always wanted that. I realized then I had it, it was just not close to me like everyone else's family around me. I had walked into every family members with a smile, and they had done the same for me. My family genuinely looked happy to see me. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
