2. Aim / Objective of the Project – To understand the functioning of
spaces and incorporating it in a small space .To design commercial areas
with minimum wastage of space. To understand proper light and
ventilation in the building. . The project is a well-modulated and
modern look . An important priority is functionalism, which cannot be
sacrificed under any circumstances including aesthetics.

Concept – Front Facade–
The inspiration is “ the free flowing form of the hair” which becomes
the elementary concept but has been conveyed in the project in various
forms like façade , ceiling design, wood installation .
DESIGN
PROPOSITION
PROPOSITION
OF FACADE
PROPOSITION
OF INTERIOR
PROPOSITION OF FAÇADE
• The function within was intended to be reflected on
the facade , hence the free flowing form of hair was
transcribed in the form of GI closed boxes that
maintained a very organic form stretched along the
height of the facade .
• The vibrancy of the space was reflected by throwing
a strong Aqua Blues against Black Jaali that allows
transparency and cross ventilation from within.
PROPOSITION OF INTERIOR
• Glass is one of the main element used in this
design that makes us embrace the idea of
looking in a mirror.
• Also variable color tones were used to
reflect the function of each space. Basement
was the Men's section, Ground and First was
the female section.
• Wooden partition continue to perform the
similar intent of free flowing hair.
Fig. front facade
The façade was designed keeping in mind the site of salon. The site
demanded of a reference point so the idea was to create a context for the
people , Nalagarh being a small town , lacked an artistic play of forms,
hence he thought to let this project give the context its due reference point
It was designed to interpret the flow of hair with the help of metal boxes
but it was smartly executed in such a way
that it interprets multiple
metaphors depending on
the viewer’s imagination.
Another illusion was to hide
the no. of floors and give a
combined outlook.

Every floor had its own function. The basement was used purely for
men’s & groom’s section, ground floor for reception & waiting , first
floor for bridal & ladies section and the second floor was used for admin

The free flowing of hair is reflected with the help of partitions &
ceilings in every floor.

Interior–
The idea was to pick the element of
glass as something that becomes
more than the function. Looking
Glass that is apparently the
function of the space has been used
poetically to express the form of t
he space , hence unlike regular
glass frames , we intended to
increase the length of the glass on
the ceiling so that one continuously
feels engaged with their body and
style. This also helped us create a
very organic form of the ceiling
creating one large impact in the
space.

peach color with floral finished vitrified tiles
The idea was to create similar but unique color palettes for each of the four floors .
Fig. Basement was the men's section , so we
played with wood / greys and grey ceiling color
Fig. Ground floor was arrival and female
section so they introduced olive greens and
William grey finished tiles.

17. BUILDING STUDY REPORT SANJU CUTS & CURLS SALON
To conclude this, report, I would like to mention that when you are
inside the building, you realize that the building is not a only a
mixture of nonliving materials, but the planning of the building is the
main factor that adds life to the building.
- The building is made with locally available materials like brick and
mortar with reduces carbon emission in transportation.
- Documenting this building was a pleasure, as the building has a lot
to explore and is a really simplified design solution housing a number
of complex functions in a single envelope.
Fire Fighting–
Conclusion–
SWOTAnalysis of the Project –
STRENGTH
1.Interesting relationship
between interior and exterior
of façade.
2. Multiple styles like modern
with a touch of industrial
design is used.
3.Design incorporated with the
demand of user.
4.Using all the levels of the
building ,a unified façade is
made which creates a reference
point.
WEAKNESS
1.No landscape design on the
site.
2. Hindrance of view of opposite
Buildings.
3.Only one staircase for
residential and commercial
purpose .
4.No ramp given for differently
abled people because of less
space.
OPPORTUNITIES
1.Introducing interior
landscaping to create an
energetic environment .
2.Hardscape can be designed.
THREATS
1.The admin area does not
have natural light.
2.The residence area could
not enjoy the view of
mountains which could be
achieved at that height.
There is a fire extinguisher installed at every floor near escape route
i.e. staircase .
Flora–
Balconies were decorated with
plants to involve nature inside.
Plants such as Chinese Fan Palm,
Areca Palm, Dieffenbechia ,
Snake and Spider plants were
used.
