4. BUNGALOW

building is simple having
rectangles & cubes combined
together. The longer side of the
bungalow (living area and
bedrooms) faces the lake &
dense forest. The skylight is
chamfered in the north
direction which continues to
staircase block which also adds
a continuity in the sloping roof
line. Eastside elevation

Design brief: Provision of recreation spaces
such as amphitheatre, food stalls, parking,
badminton hall and guest rooms at Talegaon.
Design approach: Use of arches
at the back wall of amphitheatre
acts as feature at the entrance.
Central plaza –gathering space.
Design approach: The curved
block , acts a feature of strong
focus for the passers by easily,
spotted from the road and
highlight the bike. Visibility of
the building is more important
to attract customers. It should
stand out & look different from
other residential buildings.

Design approach: Planning is simple with
a central court and 2 internal courts
containing a cluster of 3 classrooms. This
ensures that children have a sense of
indoor and outdoor spaces. Classrooms
open in quiet environment of courts.
Courts allows modular variation in size
and number of rooms. Rather than a car
oriented entrance portico, it is a pleasant
landscaped pedestrian approach as
driveway moves unobstructly away from
entrance pergola to lead the parking.

of roof is sign of public interaction and
transparency on part of police service.
Welcoming signs and symbols of
community based policing are used.
Design brief: A

designed which can
be an identity all over

Concept
Contextual Planning. Taking basis from old
structure (material, sloping roof, entrance
canopy) are carried forward and abstracted
further to create new views and juxtapositions
which add to the variety and texture of setting.
Thus the concept applied here is to have basis of
tradition and transition to new. The setting is
analyzed in terms of both cultural and physical
factors.

Design brief: The site is located in
Ichalkaranji with a 10m wide road on
one side and residential and school on
the other. A canal passes through the
centre of site. Ichalkaranji is an
industrial town, thus providing a
business hotel would become an icon
and also promote the business.
Design approach: To give the hotel a foreground it is
located on other side of canal. Certain axes are
followed to establish relationship and give clarity in
functioning of both buildings trade centre and hotel. The
relation between two buildings can be brought about by
having similarity in form (oval in plan). Oval form
constitutes the restaurant and administration area and
rigid rectangular form contains the suits.

developing IT park. In coming years there will be a need for residential
development as the industries continue to grow. The scheme provides
for 360 tenements on a site of 4 hectares and FSI of 1.
Design approach: The housing project should deliver the people a
lavish lifestyle of class, comfort and convenience but at the same time
there should be a distinct line of differentiation in home and workplace.

The blocks in cluster are tilted to break
monotony thus creating interesting open
spaces with different character as different
activities take place. Rigid angular built
mass is used in contrast to free form
landscape. Variation in height of the
buildings in clusters creates massing.
