2. The book environment
The chapter what we will be doing is chapter 2. it’s a murder scene and fro a trailer we will just
have sill concepts of that chapter as platform for us to then expand on and hopefully make a
game.
This location will be in a city called Cannes. Its in France. So I will just look at the buildings and
try to draw some concepts of how would want the area to look like.
4. Cannes – France
This is the overview of the city.
Everything that’s in the yellow circle is
the area that we will be focusing on. It’s a
posh area and the pictures in the
previous are the examples.
what I have realised from scouting the
area is that the one colour that most
buildings have are a creamy type of
colour. Its all bright. Its new but the type
of style is old which what I love about
this place.
5. My pictures
I went out today and just took some pictures of buildings, the inside part and got some textures.

8. My pictures
Most of these images I gave to Thomas so it can help him for when he
is applying the textures. I wanted some of the texture to be from
actually going out rather than just going around the internet and
getting it. Same with the ideas. Even though the city we are doing is in
France that doesn’t mean I can’t go out and get some ideas because at
the end of the day we are supposed to make our own version of it so I
had to go out and see for myself.
9. Concept style – isometric
When I thought about doing concept, I didn’t want to the sketches and then put that into
illustrator. Even thought its vital to sketch which I have been doing, I just don’t want to make
things complicating by using Photoshop or illustrator because I can only go so far with the
traditional style when using those software, so I thought of trying a new style of art which is
called isometric. It means where the lines of the drawing are at a 30 degrees angle.
10. Concept style – isometric-perspective
To fully understand isometric, I went back to the basics
and just starting to do stuff about perspective drawing.
Its about perspective. To the right are just images of my
thought process and getting hang of the drawing. I did
most if these in Herbert's lesson as he was going
through perspective drawing which really helped me for
this project.
11. Concept style – isometric-
My attempt
I knew that one of our concepts for the group
was a hotel so l looked around the city of
Cannes and I picked this hotel called
‘InterContinental Carlton Cannes’.
I didn’t want go in to detail with the isometric
drawing as it was my first actual attempt at
doing it. But it came to a point where I started
to think about doing it in detail and I was
doing it which took a lot of time. The bottom
picture was my first attempt
12. Concept style –
isometric
After showing it to Chris, he recommended to
use a software called Google Sketch up. You
can create buildings in perspective and its
very easy to understand. I did a bit of it in
detail to show off what it would look like even
when its finished without texturing. I kept the
isometric style because I like the way things
look in overview. The picture on the right is
my example. I didn’t fully copy the hotel. I
changed it a bit to make it look unique. I had
to do a quick sketch to have a base to start
from. I had obviously change some stuff as I
was building it in the software but that’s
development is about.
