The other multilevel inverter is the Flying Capacitor Multilevel Inverter (FCMI) which has
the same principle as the diode clamped multilevel inverter but it doesn’t require any
clamping diode instead it uses the capacitor. MLI has a great advantages over the
conventional two level inverter the only drawback is that it uses a big number of
semiconductors switches.
This dissertation is based on Cascaded multilevel Inverter which reduces switches for
generating 7 level output. The multicarrier PWM technique is used for switching on/off the
MOSFET switch. The whole model is simulated in MATLAB /SIMULINK and is applicable
to different type of domestic loads. The THD of the system is calculated.
