Hannah has created several initial plans for her magazine project. Her top three ideas were: 1) A lifestyle magazine focused on York featuring articles on coffee shops, attractions, and why York is a great place to live. 2) A vintage fashion magazine inspired by past decades. 3) Creating her own indie band including merchandise, an article, and album artwork. After considering her options, Hannah decided to move forward with a lifestyle magazine highlighting York's coffee shops, cocktail bars, tourist spots, and reasons it's a great place to live. She outlined the locations, software, and equipment she will use to bring her vision to life.

Reaction
• At first when hearing the brief I was initially worried about finding a
subject which I was interested in. After a while, I set a clear plan of what
I wanted to create. From my last rotation I learnt that I interacted more
when doing a print project than a video game or short film project. Once
I knew which topic I wanted to create I started to plan what I will
produce. I chose to produce a magazine type project. I wrote a list of
what I wanted to create during this project during my briefing. I wanted
to have a front cover, back cover , 2 or 3 double page spreads a
website with a video aspect involved. I would make my website
interconnect with the short film rotation which I completed, whether this
was going to be a vlogging subject on my website or adding a video
advert which would be shown on my home page. I had the idea of
shooting my photographs outside college, I wanted to go out into York
with a camera and a model. When thinking about my magazine, I don’t
know what the topic would be as of yet but I would most likely choose a
fashion magazine or a lifestyle magazine, because of my personal
interest I would make my magazine look very classic and vintage. This
is mainly because if I saw a magazine which looked very classic I would
be drawn to read it. However, I would have to be very careful if I added
a video advert it I would need it to be appealing to the audience which I
would be targeting.

Is there any repetition in the images you
have collected?
The images which I have collected all have very
warm colours which can tell people who would be
seeing these images that York is a warm loving
place. Most of my images have a happy tone with
the bright colours which have been used. If I
choose this idea I would make sure my images are
warm and colourful like these which I have
collected. It would give the reader a positive view
on York, if they had dark colours and a boring tone
it would give a negative view. This mood board
would influence my final product if I choose this
idea I would make sure that these photos would
influence the angles and places which I would take
the photos for my lifestyle magazine.

This mood board has a bright tone to it. It all looks
very classy and elegant like the decades did. All
the clothes featured look as though they are from
the decades yet are adapted to the modern days
which they have been set in. Pink is very
repeated as in the decades, pink was a very
stereotypical colour and was over used. This is
something which the photographer would bring
back into the photos. If I did this idea for my final
project I would use the colours and high key
lighting which this mood board consists of. I
would also adapt some of the angles which this
photographer has taken the shots from as it
makes the photos look more interesting.

My Mood board has a dark colour theme. Most of
the colours used represent the genre of the band.
My band would be indie so it would be more of a
purple and blue colour theme but I will still take
note of this mood board if I do choose this idea. If
I choose this idea I would use the different ways
of advertising my band which is shown in this
mood board, I would use posters, clothing,
wristbands, cups and little items like guitar picks.

When thinking about my magazine I noticed
that I read a lot of lifestyle magazines, it also
didn't help that in my past rotation I created a
fashion magazine. I wanted to create
something different yet something which I was
still interested in. I would make sure my work
looked very aesthetic and classy. This would
entice my audience which would look for a
lifestyle magazine which would appeal to
them.
Research to be conducted
When researching I would look at tourist websites
for York like VisitYork.com. I would also contact
some leisure shops (coffee shops/plant
shops/book shops). Research what coffee shops
are popular in York. Do primary research either on
survey monkey or in person to find out what is the
most popular tourist place in York. York Minster/
Bettys feature if possible.
