Hamilton County Public Health
Hamilton County Public Health strives to prevent disease and injury, promote wellness and
protect people from environmental hazards. We address the well-being of Hamilton County
residents through a community-focused approach to examining health trends and taking
appropriate action, healthcare coordination, inspections, education and providing assistance to
help communities cope with emergencies.
Serving a resident population of more than 470,000 people in 43 political jurisdictions, agency
activities include immunization clinics, TB control, disease surveillance and investigation, health
promotion programs, public health preparedness, restaurant and school inspections, plumbing
and septic system inspections, and issuance of birth and death records.
Hamilton County Public Health is made up of two departments – the Department of Community
Health Services and the Department of Environmental Health Services. Though each department
is made up of divisions and programs that carry out unique public health functions, they each
work closely together to keep residents healthy and safe.
