KEY ELEMENTS IN THE SYLLABUS
4. P.D.H.P.E RATIONALE
PDHPE stands for and therefore incorporates personal development, health and physical
education
PDHPE is fun and effectively user friendly!
We need more physical education in primary schools! It holds equal importance to the other
five key learning areas in the NSW Primary curriculum. PDHPE plays a unique role in the
development of students’ knowledge, understandings and practical skills that
lead to better health.
It is important to raise awareness, support students and educate them about issues
surrounding health such as obesity, sex education, safety and promote good personal choices
to an active lifestyle.
With the right support and education, students will then confidently communicate, make
thorough decisions, encourage interaction with each others and effectively solve problem,
PDHPE gives them the most important life skills.
