2. AUDIO VISUAL AIDS
Audio visual aids are also called instructional materials. Audio
literally means “hearing” and “visual” means that which is
found by seeing. So all such aid, which endeavor to make the
knowledge clear to us through our senses are called “Audio
Visual Aids” or instructional Material. All these learning
material make the learning situations as real as possible and
give us firsthand knowledge through the organs of hearing and
seeing. Therefore, any device which can be used to make the
learning experience more concrete and effective, more realistic
and dynamic can be considered audio visual material.
According to Burton “Audio visual aids are sensory
objectives and images which stimulate and emphasis on
learning process”
3. COMMON CLASSIFICATION
Auditory aids:
Any instructional device that can be heard but not seen.
Eg : Microphones, Amplifier, Tape records etc…
Visual aids:
Any instructional device that can be seen, but not heard.
Eg : Chalk Board, Bulletin Board, OHP, Slides etc….
4. BULLETIN BOARD
Bulletin board is a medium for displaying materials
which must be cooperatively planned and put up by the
teacher and its student. It is one of the permanent
fixtures found in the classroom.
5. PURPOSES
To motivate the learner
To give the correct initial impression
To broader the sensory experience of the
learner
To intensify impression and vitalize
instructions
To provide information
To supplement and correlate instructions
To save time.
6. CHARACTERISTICS
It should be with finished edge
It must be fixed on the wall to prevent accidents
It must be colorful and attractive. Border designs
and mounted pictures can promote this
Have a least a unified theme for clarity
Avoid over crowded display
In putting it up be guided by the principles of
balance, unity, harmony and contrast.
7. ADVANTAGES
It is convenient for group teaching
It is economical and it can be used over again
and again
It captures attention
It can be used for drill and revision
It can be used for drawings and illustrations
from the textbooks
It provides students a realistic approach and
experience
It is even better for over burden classrooms.
8. DISADVANTAGES
It is time consuming
It is very expensive
It distracting students
A cluttered bulletin board that is full of
information can become confusing students
It cause injuries
The concept of printing paper and posting it
on bulleting boards is not very green.
It cause student fairness.
