3. WHO IS “WES” ANDERSON?
• Wesley Wales Anderson is an American film director and
screenwriter. Anderson attended the University of Texas in Austin,
where he majored in philosophy. (I think you cant tell wes took
philosiphy because it really shows in his films, he attracts different
attention to different characters and how each character has a major
part in each of his films.) It was there that he met Owen Wilson. They
became friends and began making short films, some of which aired
on a local cable-access station. Owen wilson has stared in many of
Andersons His films are known for their distinctive visual and
narrative style. Success followed with films such as Rushmore (1998),
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
and an animated feature, Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009). The latter two films
earned Anderson Oscar nominations. He was nominated for the
Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Royal
Tenenbaums in 2001 and Moonrise Kingdom in 2012, and for the
Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for Fantastic Mr. Fox in
2009.
