2. 2010’s Music Video:
This Too Shall Pass – OK Go
1970’s music video features a live performance of the artists, uses very static
shots and simplistic fades to found footage, 1990’s focus on the artist singing
with no instrumentsand tells the audience a story through the song and cuts to
the story aspect of the video seamlessly. 2010’s music video focuses on a more
abstract approach to the video and tries to be experimental. There are no
instruments featured in the video.
The 2010 Ok Go video is very unique compared to most artists, Ok Go tried to
make them stand out by using elements we haven’t seen before in typical music
videos. Most artists focus on the look, whereas Ok Go focuses on making their
video memorable for different reasons.
1990’s music video is very basic and wouldn’t engage modern audiences as we
expect and very high production value on our videos and very stimulating
visuals. The occasional fades to footage aren’t enough to keep the interest of
modern audiences.
1990’s focus on live performance, 1970’s focus on telling a story and 2010’s
abstract and trying to stand out.
