Professional Summary
I have over 30 years diverse experience in project and study management and process
engineering design, relating to Australian and International resource projects, their development
from concept to implementation and full project assessments and due diligence evaluations. I
have an extensive understanding of integrated management with hands on experience in mineral
processing, hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical plant design and development, optimisation
and operations supervision. My experience embraces a full comprehension of the integrated
commercial and engineering requirements necessary for project implementation. My experience
includes all aspects of project monitoring/auditing, development and implementation; concept
development, testing, piloting, plant trials and engineering design to Brownfield’s implementation,
commissioning and final operating practice.
I have specialist experience in precious metals, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, iron ore and uranium
and in a wide range of operating environments and locations including projects in Brazil,
Kazakhstan, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Australia. I have worked
for a number of major minerals companies, including CRA, Pasminco, Electrolytic Zinc Company
of Australasia and Zinifex. I have been involved with a number of major projects including the
Lomonosovskoye and Ponto Verde Iron Ore projects, Colquiri Tin project, Silangan, Tujuh Bukit,
Taysan and Seminco Copper Gold projects, Intex Mindoro Nickel Project, Pasminco Iron Residue
Disposal project, Zinifex Two Stage Neutral Leach, QGC Soda Ash, BHP Billiton Tails Leach
Upgrade, BHP Billiton Yeelirrie and BHP Billiton Olympic Dam Expansion and several due
diligence evaluations, Rentails and Project Andes.

 Silangan Copper Gold Project Feasibility Study
SMMCI Philippines. Study Manager for an initially 7 Mtpa (expanding to 13 Mtpa) open pit mine
and processing facility producing approximately 40 ktpa copper (concentrate and cathode) and
200,000 oz per annum gold doré. Management of numerous consultants in Perth, Brisbane,

Kazax Minerals Inc. Kazakhstan.16 Mtpa magnetite beneficiation plant with crushing and dry
cobbing and wet plant, LIMS, flotation and concentrate dewatering. Responsibility for the
development of the final project report and review of technical documentation. Project Value

 Awak Mas Gold Prefeasibility Study
Pan Asia Resources, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Awak Mas is 4 Mtpa gold float/CIL plant on the Island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Overall
responsibility for the final project report. Project Value $US 320M.
 Xstrata Zinc Pilot Plant Study
Xstrata Zinc, Mt Isa.
Process engineering consultant reviewing pilot plant test work programs, data collection,
project HAZOP and analysis of technical information for process design.
 Tujuh Bukit Porphyry Copper Scoping Study
Intrepid Mines Ltd., Indonesia.
Overall Study Manager for development of 30 Mtpa open cut and block cave mines, copper
concentrator and RLEW facility. Responsible for management of consultants and engineers
across four continents. Significant interaction with multiple expert consultants, service
suppliers, vendors and with onsite personnel. Disciplines included resource evaluation, mining
development, metallurgical test work, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental

Copper Development Corporation, Negros Philippines.
Study Manager developing a 15 Mtpa open cut mine and copper concentrator on the island of
Negros in the Philippines. Included overall project management of resource evaluation and
estimation, mining development, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental
investigations and permitting. Also included the management of a high value engineering
component out of Indonesia. Development of the overall project report and capital and
operating cost estimates. Project Value $US 320M.
 Taysan Copper Gold Prefeasibility and Scoping Studies
Crazy Horse Resources Inc. Luzon, Philippines.
Study Manager/Director for both phases of development of 30 Mtpa and 15 Mtpa open cut
mines and copper concentrators. The project included overall project management of resource
evaluation, mining development, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental
investigations and permitting. Development of the overall project report and capital and
operating cost estimates and of NI 43-101 compliant reports. Project Value $US 1.1B
 Emanuel Range Lead/Zinc Concentrator Feasibility Study
Meridian Minerals Ltd., West Australia.
Study Manager for relocation and redesign of the Galmoy lead zinc concentrator and adapting
it to process the Emanuel Range ore in Western Australia. The project included process plant,
site and associated infrastructure, power and water requirements in the design. Project Value
$US 320M

Co-ordination of the Brisbane office process engineering team on a day-to-day basis, providing
guidance on design activities, management of personnel resources and personnel development,
client interface management, project proposal development, and regional recruitment support.
Project bid management and proposal preparation including scheduling, manning and costing.
Corporate design reviews and governance auditing.
 GPM Coal Investment Ltd Copper Smelter Technology Review
Review of current smelter technology & selection of most suitable for a processing plant in
Vietnam. Development of process flow sheet, capital and operating costs estimates and project
scheduling. Project Value $US 350M.
 QGC Soda Ash Production Study
Development of process treatment route to treat CSG Water, development of process
simulations, BFDs, equipment lists and capital and operating cost estimates. Project Value
$US 190M.
 BHP Billiton Yeelirrie Identification Study
Identification of Uranium process options, development of simulations PFDs and equipment
lists for capital and operating cost estimation. Project Value $US 730M.
 Olympic Dam Expansion Stage 1
Verification of the current Olympic Dam facility capacity covering the concentrator and
hydrometallurgical facilities. The project scope includes highlighting sections requiring
rejuvenation for future expansion and development of process solutions to eliminate the
identified limitations. The project identifies process opportunities investigates process
utilisations and identifies potential for improvements through process design modifications.

 Hallmark Nickel Project
Conceptual development of PFDs, process models, equipment lists, operating costs and
preparation of process descriptions for a number of processing options for BHPB. Derivation of
plant designs based on limited test programs.
 BHP Billiton Tails Leach Upgrade Project
Working in conjunction with KBR for installation of new tanks and upgrading the Tails Leach
circuit and installation of a scats screening facility at Olympic Dam. Preparation and evaluation
of process concepts, PFDs, P&IDs, review of process calculations, functional descriptions,
process control philosophy, and HAZOPs.
 Bluestone Tin Evaluation
Technical Due Diligence evaluation of the Metals X Tasmanian Tin strategy for YTC
Resources. Audit of the Bluestone Renison concentrator and tailings facility, Rentails tailings
retreatment project review, concentrating on the tin fuming stage.
 Gladstone Pacific Nickel
Preparation and review of PFDs and P&IDs associated engineering design calculations for the
Leach plant and services. Preparation of the overall process water balance. Evaluation of Ion
Exchange technology integration opportunities into the process flowsheet. Project Value
$US 3.7B.
 Mindoro Nickel Project
Review of PFDs, equipment lists and preparation of process description. Development of the
process plant expansion study. Project Value $US 2.5B.
ZINIFEX Hobart Smelter- (Roast, Leach, Purification and Electrolytic Refining)
 Leach Purification Metallurgist
Responsible for the day to day management and monitoring of the Leach/Purification plant and
Effluent Treatment sections. Including troubleshooting, continuous improvement, productivity
and quality control.
Projects included;
 Hobart Century plant trial management including capital expenditure and resource allocation
and coordination.
 Zinifex Unlimited change management program with the overall objective of a quantum shift in
organisational culture at Hobart.
 External project contracted work programs including liaison with academic institutions, third
party technology providers and equipment vendors.
 Longer-term site support functions, contribution to site safety and administration.
 Zinc Recovery project identifying process technologies, debottlenecking and continuous
improvement opportunities. Realisation of significant recovery increases over a 6 month period
with additional potential increases identified and valued.
 Two Stage Neutral Leach project involved concept development, engineering design, capital
estimation and implementation of two stage leaching.
 Hydrometallurgical test work laboratory project included design and implementation of a new
facility (building, equipment, support facilities and services: involving management of capital
works, external contractors, facility design and implementation).
 Overall site technical support and troubleshooting.

 Provision of mentoring/training role to new recruits and employees.
PASMINCO Smelter Technical Support
Projects included;
 Ultra fine silica separation project for the Hobart electrolytic smelter.
 Germanium Removal project as part of Pasminco’s evaluation of the Century lead zinc deposit.
 Raw Material Strategy project strategic planning, strategy development and detailed analysis
for raw materials selection over mid to long term timeframes.
 Laboratory test work program for Century zinc concentrate addition into the Hobart plant
 Copper Sulphate Rationalisation program. Multi-site rationalisation of Pasminco’s copper
facilities and development of a copper sulphate crystallization system utilising high acid feed,
(formerly considered beyond normal technology capabilities).
 Physical Characterisation and Sinterability of Co-Treatment residue.
 Mentoring and performance development to new graduates and employees.
PASMINCO METALS EZ
Projects included;
 Co-Treatment project (to cease ocean disposal of jarosite). Developed technical-economic
scenario models evaluating over 40 potential technology variants. Provided detailed analysis
for decision making and integration of the Hobart and Port Pirie sites. Tested selected
technology from laboratory to full plant trials at Hobart and Port Pirie sites. Liaison with
selected engineering consultants. Project is now implemented and successful.
 Responsible for determination of maximum roaster capacity on site. Development and
implementation of an on-line test work program to demonstrate potential operating regime
improvements. Demonstrated a potential 15% improvement in throughput was possible.
PASMINCO RESEARCH CENTRE
The Research Centre at Cockle Creek provided a broad range of metallurgical and process
development capability available to new Resource opportunities, operating Business Units and
Corporate Projects.
Projects included;
 Budelco Slag Cleaning project. Developed technology to produce a clean discardable slag to
meet stringent Dutch government requirements. Tested from laboratory scale through to mini-
production run generating over 100 tonne of product for evaluation.
 ER&S, (Southern Copper) Slag Cleaning project. Identified and proved technology to produce
a clean disposable slag. Tested from laboratory to large pilot tonne scale. Recommendations
adopted by the operating business unit.
 Colquiri zinc ore matte fuming project Proved technology to produce a clean zinc oxide
concentrate on laboratory and large pilot plant scales.
 Dugald River resource evaluation. Developed detailed process flowsheet and experimental
program and financial data for evaluation of potential processing routes.
 Design of pilot scale, (four tonne per hour) smelting facilities.
Additionally, responsible for the management of up to 20 staff and experimental facilities, on a
project by project basis, development and management of experimental test programs from
laboratory scale to one and four tonne scales. VAX computer system manager and responsible for
development of SOP’s and for contribution to site administration.

I have an extensive understanding of integrated management with hands on experience in mineral processing, hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical plant design and development, optimisation and operations supervision. My experience embraces a full comprehension of the integrated commercial and engineering requirements necessary for project implementation. My experience includes all aspects of project monitoring/auditing, development and implementation; concept development, testing, piloting, plant trials and engineering design to Brownfield’s implementation, commissioning and final operating practice. I have specialist experience in precious metals, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, iron ore and uranium and in a wide range of operating environments and locations including projects in Brazil, Kazakhstan, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Australia. Papua New Guinea. 3.5 Mtpa flotation plant and concentrate dewatering. Responsibility for the development of the process plant flow sheet, development of operating and capital cost estimates and reporting. Project Value $US 100M.  Ponto Verde Iron Ore Project Feasibility Study SAFM. Brazil.8 Mtpa hematite and magnetite beneficiation plant with crushing, grinding and wet plant, WHIMS and concentrate dewatering. Responsibility for the development of the process flow sheet and review of technical documentation and reporting. Project Value $US 500M.

Kazakhstan.16 Mtpa magnetite beneficiation plant with crushing and dry cobbing and wet plant, LIMS, flotation and concentrate dewatering. Responsibility for the development of the final project report and review of technical documentation. Project Value $US 450M. AMEC Strategic Business Manager  Responsible for study management and corporate governance of all studies in the Brisbane office, (including quality assurance and overall sign off of NI 43-101 reports).  Mining and metals sector business development and opportunity identification.  Proposal management including project costing, scheduling, staffing and contract development. Senior Study Manager/Director  Project Andes Technical Due Diligence Confidential Client and Project, southern Peru. TDD for a 60 ktpd copper and molybdenum block cave mine, concentrator and infrastructure. Responsibility for coordination of the international TDD team and overall client report. Project Value $US 690M.  Ollachea Gold Definitive Feasibility Study Minera Kuri Kulla S.A, Ollachea, Peru. Ollachea is a 1 Mtpa gold float/CIL plant in southern Peru. Overall responsibility for all activities necessary for the production of the NI 43-101 and Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) reports. Project Value $US 220M.  Awak Mas Gold Prefeasibility Study Pan Asia Resources, Sulawesi, Indonesia. Awak Mas is 4 Mtpa gold float/CIL plant on the Island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Overall responsibility for the final project report. Project Value $US 320M.  Xstrata Zinc Pilot Plant Study Xstrata Zinc, Mt Isa. Process engineering consultant reviewing pilot plant test work programs, data collection, project HAZOP and analysis of technical information for process design.  Tujuh Bukit Porphyry Copper Scoping Study Intrepid Mines Ltd., Indonesia. Overall Study Manager for development of 30 Mtpa open cut and block cave mines, copper concentrator and RLEW facility. Responsible for management of consultants and engineers across four continents. Significant interaction with multiple expert consultants, service suppliers, vendors and with onsite personnel. Disciplines included resource evaluation, mining development, metallurgical test work, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental baseline investigations. Project Value $US 3.4B.

Study Manager developing a 15 Mtpa open cut mine and copper concentrator on the island of Negros in the Philippines. Included overall project management of resource evaluation and estimation, mining development, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental investigations and permitting. Also included the management of a high value engineering component out of Indonesia. Development of the overall project report and capital and operating cost estimates. Project Value $US 320M.  Taysan Copper Gold Prefeasibility and Scoping Studies Crazy Horse Resources Inc. Luzon, Philippines. Study Manager/Director for both phases of development of 30 Mtpa and 15 Mtpa open cut mines and copper concentrators. The project included overall project management of resource evaluation, mining development, process plant design, infrastructure and environmental investigations and permitting. Development of the overall project report and capital and operating cost estimates and of NI 43-101 compliant reports. Project Value $US 1.1B  Emanuel Range Lead/Zinc Concentrator Feasibility Study Meridian Minerals Ltd., West Australia. Study Manager for relocation and redesign of the Galmoy lead zinc concentrator and adapting it to process the Emanuel Range ore in Western Australia. The project included process plant, site and associated infrastructure, power and water requirements in the design. Project Value $US 320M AKER SOLUTIONS Regional Team Leader - Process Metals Co-ordination of the Brisbane office process engineering team on a day-to-day basis, providing guidance on design activities, management of personnel resources and personnel development, client interface management, project proposal development, and regional recruitment support. Project bid management and proposal preparation including scheduling, manning and costing. Corporate design reviews and governance auditing.  GPM Coal Investment Ltd Copper Smelter Technology Review Review of current smelter technology & selection of most suitable for a processing plant in Vietnam. Development of process flow sheet, capital and operating costs estimates and project scheduling. Project Value $US 350M.  QGC Soda Ash Production Study Development of process treatment route to treat CSG Water, development of process simulations, BFDs, equipment lists and capital and operating cost estimates. Project Value $US 190M.  BHP Billiton Yeelirrie Identification Study Identification of Uranium process options, development of simulations PFDs and equipment lists for capital and operating cost estimation. Project Value $US 730M.  Olympic Dam Expansion Stage 1 Verification of the current Olympic Dam facility capacity covering the concentrator and hydrometallurgical facilities. The project scope includes highlighting sections requiring rejuvenation for future expansion and development of process solutions to eliminate the identified limitations. The project identifies process opportunities investigates process utilisations and identifies potential for improvements through process design modifications.

Derivation of plant designs based on limited test programs.  BHP Billiton Tails Leach Upgrade Project Working in conjunction with KBR for installation of new tanks and upgrading the Tails Leach circuit and installation of a scats screening facility at Olympic Dam. Preparation and evaluation of process concepts, PFDs, P&IDs, review of process calculations, functional descriptions, process control philosophy, and HAZOPs.  Bluestone Tin Evaluation Technical Due Diligence evaluation of the Metals X Tasmanian Tin strategy for YTC Resources. Audit of the Bluestone Renison concentrator and tailings facility, Rentails tailings retreatment project review, concentrating on the tin fuming stage.  Gladstone Pacific Nickel Preparation and review of PFDs and P&IDs associated engineering design calculations for the Leach plant and services. Preparation of the overall process water balance. Evaluation of Ion Exchange technology integration opportunities into the process flowsheet. Project Value $US 3.7B.  Mindoro Nickel Project Review of PFDs, equipment lists and preparation of process description. Development of the process plant expansion study. Project Value $US 2.5B. ZINIFEX Hobart Smelter- (Roast, Leach, Purification and Electrolytic Refining)  Leach Purification Metallurgist Responsible for the day to day management and monitoring of the Leach/Purification plant and Effluent Treatment sections. Including troubleshooting, continuous improvement, productivity and quality control. Projects included;  Hobart Century plant trial management including capital expenditure and resource allocation and coordination.  Zinifex Unlimited change management program with the overall objective of a quantum shift in organisational culture at Hobart.  External project contracted work programs including liaison with academic institutions, third party technology providers and equipment vendors.  Longer-term site support functions, contribution to site safety and administration.  Zinc Recovery project identifying process technologies, debottlenecking and continuous improvement opportunities. Realisation of significant recovery increases over a 6 month period with additional potential increases identified and valued.  Two Stage Neutral Leach project involved concept development, engineering design, capital estimation and implementation of two stage leaching.  Hydrometallurgical test work laboratory project included design and implementation of a new facility (building, equipment, support facilities and services: involving management of capital works, external contractors, facility design and implementation).  Overall site technical support and troubleshooting.

PASMINCO Smelter Technical Support Projects included;  Ultra fine silica separation project for the Hobart electrolytic smelter.  Germanium Removal project as part of Pasminco’s evaluation of the Century lead zinc deposit.  Raw Material Strategy project strategic planning, strategy development and detailed analysis for raw materials selection over mid to long term timeframes.  Laboratory test work program for Century zinc concentrate addition into the Hobart plant  Copper Sulphate Rationalisation program. Multi-site rationalisation of Pasminco’s copper facilities and development of a copper sulphate crystallization system utilising high acid feed, (formerly considered beyond normal technology capabilities).  Physical Characterisation and Sinterability of Co-Treatment residue.  Mentoring and performance development to new graduates and employees. PASMINCO METALS EZ Projects included;  Co-Treatment project (to cease ocean disposal of jarosite). Developed technical-economic scenario models evaluating over 40 potential technology variants. Provided detailed analysis for decision making and integration of the Hobart and Port Pirie sites. Tested selected technology from laboratory to full plant trials at Hobart and Port Pirie sites. Liaison with selected engineering consultants. Project is now implemented and successful.  Responsible for determination of maximum roaster capacity on site. Development and implementation of an on-line test work program to demonstrate potential operating regime improvements. Demonstrated a potential 15% improvement in throughput was possible. PASMINCO RESEARCH CENTRE The Research Centre at Cockle Creek provided a broad range of metallurgical and process development capability available to new Resource opportunities, operating Business Units and Corporate Projects. Projects included;  Budelco Slag Cleaning project. Developed technology to produce a clean discardable slag to meet stringent Dutch government requirements. Tested from laboratory scale through to mini- production run generating over 100 tonne of product for evaluation.  ER&S, (Southern Copper) Slag Cleaning project. Identified and proved technology to produce a clean disposable slag. Tested from laboratory to large pilot tonne scale. Recommendations adopted by the operating business unit.  Colquiri zinc ore matte fuming project Proved technology to produce a clean zinc oxide concentrate on laboratory and large pilot plant scales.  Dugald River resource evaluation. Developed detailed process flowsheet and experimental program and financial data for evaluation of potential processing routes.  Design of pilot scale, (four tonne per hour) smelting facilities. Additionally, responsible for the management of up to 20 staff and experimental facilities, on a project by project basis, development and management of experimental test programs from laboratory scale to one and four tonne scales. VAX computer system manager and responsible for development of SOP’s and for contribution to site administration.

Ltd., including commissioning and operation of a 20 tph demonstration submerged combustion smelter at Olympic Dam.
