After researching the genre of magazine that I have decided to base my own on; there have been
many similarities and conventions that the majority of ‘rock’ themed magazines follow. For example;
the main image being of an individual instead of a group, the colours consisting mostly of red, and
each magazine uses a close up of the celebrity used as the main image. I have decided to choose the
rock genre as I believe it attracts a niche audience which represents a gap in the music industry and
in shops which sell magazines. Having a niche audience can also advantage the consumers as the
magazine will be unique and there wouldn’t be many magazines to choose from; in addition this
benefits the suppliers as there is little competition.
