1. "Blame It On Me"
The garden was blessed by the Gods of me and you
We headed west to find ourselves some truth, ooh
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
We counted all our reasons, excuses that we made
We found ourselves some treasure, and threw it all away
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
When I dance alone, and the sun's bleeding down,
Blame it on me
When I lose control and the veil's overused,
Blame it on me
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
Caught in the tide of blossom, caught in the carnival
Your confidence forgotten, I see the gypsies run
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
When I dance alone, and the sun's bleeding down,
Blame it on me
When I lose control and the veil's overused,
Blame it on me
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
When I dance alone, and the sun's bleeding down,
Blame it on me
When I lose control and the veil's overused,
Blame it on me
When I dance alone, I know I'll go
Blame it on me ooh
When I'll lose control, I know I'll go
Blame it on me ooh
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
‘We headed west’ – this suggests that he will be moving away with someone. Most likely, his
girlfriend, they could be moving to get away from the life they are living. We will represent this is our
music video by making it obvious that he wants to move out of the area he is currently living in.
‘What you waiting for?’ – These lyrics are sang in a way which represents George Ezra trying to
persuade someone to come along or to do what he wants to do. This will be represented in our
video by our artist either trying to convince a girl to go along with his ideas or him trying to persuade
himself to do something.
2. ‘Caught in the tide of blossom, caught in the carnival’ – This represents someone stuck in the middle
of a situation and feeling as if they can’t escape. We will represent this by having our artist stood in
the middle of a large crowd. The crowd will be walking and we will edit it so that the crowd are in
fast motion; making the artist look alone and helpless.
‘When I lose control and the veil’s overused’ – This suggests that he regularly goes mad by losing
control, however he doesn’t mind the consequences. This could be represented by our artist
showing a different side to his personality and ‘letting go’.
‘Blame it on me oh’ – Suggesting that he doesn’t mind taking the blame as it most probably is worth
getting into trouble for.
‘When I dance alone and the suns bleeding down’ – Relates back to the carnival imagery created. It
also suggests to the audience that he only dances when i t’s a summer’s day.
‘Your confidence forgotten’ – this could have two meanings to it; 1. That she has lost her confidence
and isn’t acting the same. Or 2. That she has forgotten about her lack of confidence and is letting go
and having a good time.
