Meow Wolf started working with Ben
Mohr of Barker Realty in July of 2014 in
hopes of securing a space for Meow Wolf’s
first permanent installation. The old Silva
Lanes had been on the market for 6 years,
with only minimal interest. Vince Kad-
lubek of Meow Wolf worked for George RR
Martin at Martin’s Jean Cocteau Theater
and thought Mr. Martin might be interest-
ed in the prospect of owning the building.
Over the course of the next 4 months,
Martin and Meow Wolf hammered out
the details and fought off interest from
5 other buyers to secure the building.
George RR Martin is the owner of the
building, and will act as Meow Wolf’s
landlord over the span of a 10-year lease.
The 33,000 sq. ft building sits on 2.6 acres
of land. $2.7M worth of renovations will
transform the building and the park-
ing lot into a brand new space, fit with a
new roof, new HVAC, new electrical, sky-
lights, and a beautifully landscaped park-
ing lot with large-scale sculptures, trees,
and LED lighting. The building’s reno-
vation is being designed by Meow Wolf
and local architect, Autotroph Designs.
Constructive Assets, Inc. lead the construc-
tion of project. Constructive Assets, Inc. was
also responsible for the renovation of The
Jean Cocteau Theater, also owned by Martin.
The front facade of the building will be
transformed by an explosive mural that
loudly announces Meow Wolf’s arriv-
al into the Siler/Rufina corridor. Con-
veniently located in the center of town,
Meow Wolf’s Art Complex will have direct
access to southside families through Rufi-
na Drive., and access to eastside residents
through the Siler/Alameda connection.
The centerpiece to Meow Wolf’s Art Com-
plex will be a 20,000 sq. ft. attraction called
House of Eternal Return, a follow-up to the
group’s wildly successful The Due Return ex-
hibit that opened in 2011. Meow Wolf’s Art
Complex will also house 19 Artist Studios,
a gift shop, classic gallery space, and The
David Loughridge Makers Space, a 2,000
sq. ft. workshop programmed by Meow
Wolf’s Arts Education Program, CHIMERA.
BUILDING INFORMATION
WHO IS MEOW WOLF?
Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment
production company that creates immersive,
multi-media art experiences that transport au-
diences of all ages into fantastical, explorable
realms of discoverable narrative. This unique
fusion of art and entertainment gives audienc-
es fictional worlds to explore. They are a com-
bination of jungle gym, haunted house, chil-
dren’s museum, and immersive art exhibit.
	 Meow Wolf’s art experiences include
structural elements that allow for climbing
and multi-level exploration, digital technol-
ogy for cutting-edge interactions, and narra-
tive elements that unfold at an audience mem-
ber’s pace. They are like video games made real.
Originally organized as an informal art col-
lective in 2008 by a small group of dedicated Santa
Fe artists, Meow Wolf has created 22 fully-immer-
sive exhibits in 8 different cities across the Unit-
ed States, including San Antonio, Chicago, Miami,
New Orleans, and New York. In preparation for
the first permanent exhibition, Meow Wolf or-
ganized as an LLC in 2014 with 6 equity partners:
Vince Kadlubek, Sean Di Ianni, Matt King, Emily
Montoya, Caity Kennedy, and Corvas Brinkerhoff.
	 Meow Wolf’s most successful exhibition,
The Due Return, opened at The Center for Contem-
porary Art in Santa Fe, NM in 2011 and welcomed
25,000 visitors in 3 months. Audiences explored
a giant ship within the context of an alien planet,
complete with magical glow trees and an interac-
tive control room within the ship’s interior. The
Due Return was constructed by over 100 artists.
In addition to art installations, Meow Wolf has been known locally for its dance parties and
other events. The group created an arts education program that served 1,000 public school
children in 2012, resulting in a fake grocery store called OmegaMart.
Meow Wolf is proud to open House of Eternal Return, its first permanent installation in its
hometown, Santa Fe. Meow Wolf is actively seeking anyone interested in getting involved with
the group, including artists, programmers, and general volunteers.
Meow Wolf sets out to create
an unprecedented arts and entertainment ex-
perience as the centerpiece to the Meow Wolf
Art Complex. House of Eternal Return is the
follow-up to Meow Wolf’s wildly successful
exhibit The Due Return which opened at The
Center of Contemporary Art in Santa Fe in 2011.
House of Eternal Return tells the story of an
incredible family from Mobile, Alabama in the
midst of a dimensional rift. Locked away in
their Victorian house are portals beyond time
and space, leading into realms of magic, mag-
nificence,andimagination. Whoisthisfamily?
What happened in this house? Where do these
portals lead? All these questions are answered

by a team of 75 local artists, builders, story-
tellers, and computer programmers through
spring and summer of 2015. The experience
will be appropriate for people of all ages,
supplying children with a fantastic world
to play within and giving adults a sophis-
ticated artistic experience with narrative
depth. Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return
HOUSE OF ETERNAL RETURN
will truly be a whole-family
experience.
Meow Wolf expects 100,000
visitors annually to House
of Eternal Return. House of
Eternal Return will become
the premiere family at-
traction for both locals and
tourists, and become one of
Santa Fe’s must-see art ex-
periences, alongside SITE
Santa Fe, Georgia O’Keefe
Museum and The Interna-
tional Folk Art Museum.
MAKER SPACE
The Meow Wolf Art Complex will be home to Make Santa Fe, a 21st
Century maker space outfitted with 3D Printers, CNC Routers, Laser
Cutters, and other high-end equipment for public use.
Website: http://makesantafe.net/
Arts Education Program CHIMERA
The David Loughridge Learning Center will be the headquarters of Meow Wolf’s Arts Ed-
ucation Program CHIMERA. CHIMERA will teach digital design, computer programming,
sculpture, painting, film, and other creative mediums to students of all ages and socio-
economic backgrounds. Meow Wolf believes strongly in using art as a way to grow col-
laborative social skills, knowing first-hand that the languages of cooperation are activated
when creating together.
CHIMERA programs are integrated throughout the 30,000 square-foot Meow Wolf
Art Complex – with crossover into the Maker Space, gallery, gift shop, online retail space,
and the House of Eternal Return exhibit. Program activities include on-site workshops, in-
ternships, summer camp, subsidized school visits to the Art Complex and in-school instruc-
tion which will take place in classrooms primarily within Santa Fe Public Schools.
Chimera provides a platform to con-
vey modern, applicable job skills to future
generations of young artists, teaching new
forms of creative engagement through art,
creativity, technology, and play.
	 The David Loughridge Learning
Center is dedicated to the memory of Da-
vid Loughridge, a member of Meow Wolf
who passed away in January of 2014. David
Loughridge was a beloved member of our
community, and was key to Meow Wolf’s
growth into major projects. And just as it
did in life, the spirit of David Loughridge
still drives Meow Wolf’s process today.
PROGRAMMING AND EVENTS
The Meow Wolf Art Complex will also be home to various spaces
that will welcome rotating, year-round programming and participation.
Giant Parking Lot
Not only will the giant parking lot
offer the community plenty of parking,
but it will also serve as a location for many
other potential activities. Renovated with
landscaping, new lights, and outdoor
sculpture, such as Christian Ristow’s 30
foot tall robot and Christina Sporrong’s
giant spider “TaranTula,” the space will be
ripe for weekend events like art markets,
community festivals, and gatherings. On a more consistent basis, Meow Wolf will wel-
come food trucks to utilize the parking lot to create a Food Truck Park in the center of town.
Underrepresented artists will have the
opportunity to show work, with rotat-
ing shows occurring throughout the
year. The Project Space will also offer
Learning Center students opportunity
for showcasing work.
Gallery/Project Space
Gift Shop
Local artists will have the opportunity
to sell items through the Meow Wolf gift
shop. With the main exhibition draw-
ing 100,000 visitors a year, the gift shop
will become a great place to showcase
the craftsmanship of local artists and
designers. Additionally,Meow Wolf
will sell items directly related to the
exhibition and the company.
This project is made possible by the generous support
of our sponsors:
