Family and School and work
2. Family.- Family is a fundamental social group in society
typically of one or two parents and their children.
School and Work.- The right to education for children and
adolescents around the world and in our country is determined
in constitutions and in the principles and goals set in the
international agreements
3. Family and relationships problems
Even though, everybody expects family is a space where people find
peace and tranquility, there are problems related to the relationships
between spouses, parents, children, extended family and friends.
Almost all relationships and families face difficult times and
experience conflicts.
4. How labor affects the learning
achievement
Child labor is the practice of having children engaged in economic
activities that deprive children of their childhood and is harmful to
their physical and mental development. This labor also denies
children and adolescents of their fundamental rights such as enjoy
their childhood and adolescence processes, attend school regularly,
have peace of mind, live with dignity and well-being.
5. 5 ways to balance your family, work and
school life:
• Get organized from the start.
• Schedule out your semester.
• Recognize your goals.
• Involve your family.
• Take some time for yourself.
6. Coherent Government policies to prevent child and
adolescent labor
If the Ecuadorian Constitution and international agreements demand our governments to give the facilities to provide
with schools to promote quality education to children and adolescents and they have to prefer work instead of school
due to individual and family circumstances, policymakers have to make plans to overcome this situation.
• Some coherent policies government should adapt are:
• Creating decent work opportunities for parents
• Creating incentives for parents to invest in education of children and adolescents
• Intervening early (getting children out of child labor and helping them to go to school)
• Ensuring for free compulsory and quality education
• Expanding social protection

8. School has been neglected as a source of stress and strain resulting
from its inevitable conflict with work and family role demands among
married, working students. The meager research available has
examined only work-school (not school-work) conflict among
adolescents and college students and only three studies (two
unpublished) have developed measures of conflict involving work,
family, and school without studying its antecedents and
consequences.
