Infrared photography captures invisible infrared light just beyond the visible red light region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared light has wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves. Infrared radiation was discovered in 1800 and can penetrate haze and fog better than visible light. Infrared photography allows photography in low-light conditions and has various applications like surveillance, forensic science, and archaeology by revealing details not visible to the naked eye.

2. The light we see with our eyes is really a very small
portion of what is called the "Electromagnetic
Spectrum.“
Radiation in the Electromagnetic
Spectrum is often categorized by wavelength. Short
wavelength radiation is of the highest energy and
can be very dangerous - Gamma, X-rays and
ultraviolet are examples of short wavelength
radiation. Longer wavelength radiation is of lower
energy and is usually less harmful - examples
include radio, microwaves and infrared.

Infrared radiation (IR), sometimes referred to simply
as infrared, is a region of the
electromagneticradiation spectrum where wavelengths
range from about 700 nanometers (nm) to 1 millimeter
(mm). Infrared waves are longer than those of visible light,
but shorter than those of radio waves.
