Problem Statement
The problem is that young elementary school students engage in less than the CDC’s recommended
1 hour of programmed physical activity per day, coming home in the afternoon or night to
neighborhoods where engaging in outdoor activities alone is unsafe.
This is a problem for children because without safe and supervised after-school play spaces,
children form unhealthy habits that then lead to health problems.
