3. Promotional methods
The slide beforehand are various
ways that I could promote my
magazine. In this PowerPoint I will
discuss which promotional method
would be most effective for me.
4. Billboards
The most obvious way to promote my magazine would be to use
billboards, however this can be expensive and will take up a
considerable amount of my distribution budget. Considering this,
I have decided to use a billboard in an area where most of my
target demographic will see it, such as the shopping centre,
“Westfield”. I know a lot of my potential consumers like to spend
their weekends here with their friends, shopping or taking photos
in the Apple Store, therefore it is an ideal location.
As well as this, they may have been taken
their by their parents, as it is quite far away
and my target demographic are only young.
Knowing this, I believe there will be a strong
chance that parents will see my billboard
whilst shopping, and purchase my magazine
for their child.
5. On the radio
Capital FM is the most popular music station in
London for pop music, and I have found in my
research that a lot of my target demographic
discover new music from radio stations such as
this.
I know that during the period where I am bringing out
my magazine, Capital FM will hold its yearly “Jingle
Bell Ball”. I plan to do a deal with Capital FM, offering
them free advertising space in my magazine, in return
for handing out a copy of V.I.POP to each person as
they enter the Jingle Bell Ball. This creates an
opportunity to distribute my magazine to my target
demographic, as they would read my magazine whilst
waiting for the next act to come on stage.
6. Launch Parties
Launch parties are an ideal way to show the fun side of
my magazine, which is typically associated with the POP
genre. However, as my demographic are under-age, it is
difficult to arrange an event in a night club where it is
illegal to let under 18’s in.
The popular club “Oceana” holds under 18 nights during the
school holidays where many young teens will go to dance, listen
to music and see their friends. I already know this is a popular
event, holding over 150 guests each time, and therefore an ideal
opportunity to promote my up-and-coming magazine.
Again, I will arrange a deal with Oceana, to offer free advertising,
and in return ask them to hand out my magazine as the guests
leave, so they can read it on their way home. I will also hold a
competition to win a years free subscription to my magazine.
Although only one person will win, the competition will still
promote my brand in the process.
