2. Hebrews 5:12
They needed to grow to the point where they
no longer needed a someone to teach them
the elementary principles
Do we still have those that have to remind us of
basic principles?
At this point they should have become the
teachers themselves
We will always need a teacher – Eph. 4:11-16
The Lord will always be our teacher
3. What is a Teacher? (in this
context)
Merriam-Webster – “a person that
teaches”
Anyone who shares the instruction or
information found in the Word of
God.
4. You now have the
responsibility to teach
Matthew 9:35-37
38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to
send out laborers into His harvest.”
Romans 15:1-4
4 For whatever things were written before
were written for our learning, that we through
the patience and comfort of the Scriptures
might have hope.
5. Excuses (I will not know what to
say)
Exodus 4:10-11
10 Then Moses said to the LORD, “O my Lord, I am not
eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken
to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of
tongue.”
11 So the LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s
mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing,
or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? 12 Now therefore,
go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what
you shall say.”
6. Excuses (I am too young)
Jeremiah 1:6
6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
7 But the LORD said to me: “Do not say,
‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall
speak.
8 Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says
the LORD.
7. Excuses (This is not my Job)
Amos 7:14-16
14 Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah:
“I was no prophet,
Nor was I a son of a prophet,
But I was a sheep breeder
And a tender of sycamore fruit.
15 Then the LORD took me as I followed the flock,
And the LORD said to me,
‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’
16 Now therefore, hear the word of the LORD:
You say, ‘Do not prophesy against Israel,
And do not spout against the house of Isaac.’
8. We also have been
commanded!
1 Thess. 5:12-15
12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize
those who labor among you, and are over you
in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem
them very highly in love for their work’s sake.
Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who
are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the
weak, be patient with all. 15 See that no one
renders evil for evil to anyone, but always
pursue what is good both for yourselves and
for all.
9. Are you upset with the spiritual
condition of your brethren?
Proverbs 10:12 – A hateful person would respond…
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins
Hebrews 10:24 – A loving person would respond
24 And let us consider one another in
order to stir up love and good
works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner of
some, but exhorting one another, and so
much the more as you see the Day
approaching.
