• He strengthened Israel with new technologies
– Aided their defense from Assyria and Sennacherib

• His story is where biblical history and non-secular
history meet.

• “Belonging to Hezekiah, (son of) Ahaz, king of Judah.”

• When Hezekiah learned Sennacherib’s
intentions to take Judah, he immediately
began equipping Jerusalem to stand
against him. (v.2)
• However, all the spiritual equipping had
already been done in the days of peace.
He had already restored the practice of
the law and destroyed the places for
idolatry. (v.1)
• He rebuilt the city wall that Joash, king
of Israel, destroyed when he captured
Amaziah (2nd Chr. 25:23)
• He built another new wall outside the
city (v. 5)
• He repaired the Millo that David built
(2 Sam. 5:9)
• He made weapons and shields in
abundance (v5)

• But ultimately, it was not all military
technology that saved Jerusalem. It
was the Lord that saved Hezekiah and
the people of Jerusalem.

IN 40 YEARS?
• Hezekiah showed the Babylonian Princes all that he
had.
– Isaiah prophesied that Babylon would return to rob all that
Hezekiah and his fathers had. (2 Kings 20:12-19)
