3. The purpose of the study
to investigate the influence
of Generation X and Y on iGen
and research the role of Gen Z
in Frederick Herzberg’s well
known Two-Factor Theory
3
4. Gen Y grew up in the
world of information
technology. Instant
gratification was key.
Gen X was the first
generation where
technology was
introduced and integrated
into the everyday life.
4
‘Digital’ is in DNA of
Gen Z. They grow up in
a world of avatars and
out-multi-task Gen Y.
6. × Gen Z gives more importance to influencers than celebrities
Brands will need to pay more attention to YouTube/Internet stars than
Hollywood
× Gen Z prefers anonymity, they aren’t quick to share their opinion or
what they are doing or where they are going — preferring sites like
SnapChat and Whisper
There is already a decline in Gen Z’ers on Facebook and Twitter
× Gen Z prefers video, images and emojis over text
Anticipate use of multi-media releases will be on the rise
Use of emojis among brands may increase
× Gen Z is a more humble generation, less about “me”
This could affect the future of fashion bloggers — we could see a decline
× Gen Z is less developed face-to-face and prefer more structured work
environments with clear assignments/roles
Big visionary ideas may not come as naturally to Gen Z’ers, however follow
through will be prominent as they have a strong work ethic 6
7. Extrinsic Job Satisfaction Factors - the hygiene factors are
supervision, working conditions, co-workers, pay, policies and
procedures, job security, status, and personal life.
7
Frederick Herzberg’s
Two-Factor Theory
“Intrinsic Job Satisfaction Factors -motivating factors that
centered on achievement, recognition, responsibility,
advancement, growth, and the work itself.
8. Generation X preferred to base
their work on intrinsic motivations
compared to Generation Y. At Gen
X are more likely to leave their
jobs when another company
provides better extrinsic factors
such as pay and benefits.
This indicates that Millennials’
employees have heavier needs in
Extrinsic Motivations from their
jobs compared to elder
generations. Generation Y are
highly oriented towards
achievement value.
8
9. Gen X and Gen Y did not
change their daily
entertainments and habits
powerfully but they changed
their attitude to work. And in
accordance with Herzberg’s
factors iGen want to have a
balance of intrinsic extrinsic
factors. They possess the
flexibility and liberty to select
organizations. To the
generation Z as to employees
a lower loyalty due to the
consequences of the talent
war of the previous
generation.
10. Conclusion
× Satisfied workers take interest in new
organizational goals and are more receptive to
changes that management wants to introduce in
order to improve efficiency of operations.
× Generation Z changes their goals every day,
hour, minute, quicker than posts in Facebook or
Twitter, and employee has to check and be
aware of these changes and directions. It is the
only way to get the best and creative employees
of IGeneration. 10
