2. Genre
• We decided to focus on the genre of ‘Comedy’
because it is displays a different type of directing
and filming to our previously filmed thrillers.
• Also within our research, it is clear how quickly
comedy as a genre has evolved, and it’s
development is easy to identify. For instance, silent
slapstick films progressing to sound, that changed
the entire complex of comedy.
3. Characters
• Nigel – Stereotypical nerd type character, likes to
think he has a good dress sense and is a ‘looker’ for
the ladies. Tries to keep up with the popular crowd.
• Johno - Liar and makes up stories, laid back, thinks
he’s ‘all that’. Bad dress sense, rejected a lot.
Always trying to fit in and always takes the mick out
of Nigel, but he is actually just as much a loser.
4. Wannabes
We chose the title “Wannabes” because the 2 main
characters “Johno” and “Nigel” are forever in the
desire of being popular, of having a good
reputation, going to parties and getting girls, when
their characters are the complete opposite, and they
always try too hard. They are literally the exact
definition of, „Wannabes‟.
5. Narrative
• Johno and Nigel are 16 year olds in Secondary School and
have been best mates since Primary School. They both have
different personalities which see’s them contrast quite a lot.
• They get in a lot of trouble. Johno hates school and thinks it’s a
‘major drag’, he just wishes he can hang out with the ‘popular
people’.
• Nigel finally gets invited to his first party and he is excited for
what is to come ahead but is panicking. Obviously, it wont
end well, not with Johno as his plus one!
6. Branding Idea’s
• Logo/Title of Movie :- This needs to stand out the
most and be appealing to the audience. Like the
title of Airplane and The Hangover. If the Title/Logo
doesn’t catch on to the audience, this can be a
huge problem as your promotion will have failed
and it needs to be more effective.
7. Key Influences
• The Inbetweeners Movie Poster - Bright
colors (yellow and Bright Blue), the poster
needs to fit the theme/Narrative of movie.
• Airplane! (1980) – The poster has a slogan on
the top, which we have found most posters
do have. Also the comical font fits the
comedy theme. Which we would like to
incorporate.
• Hangover – This also has a slogan at the top
of the poster, with the Title being the biggest
text on the page trying to stand out to the
audience.
8. Distribution Company
Name Idea’s
• Astromax Entertainment
• Macro films
• Digiplex productions
• ComicGenius Films
• Comical Complex Entertainment
9. Marketing
• Taking into consideration the popularity of social media, we
would take advantage of promotions on Facebook & Twitter.
Releasing exclusive content and posters and trailers, as well as
cast interviews etc.
• We can use online sites like YouTube and IMdB to promote
trailers and information about the film.
• We can give interviews with the cast and crew and an insight
into the film in popular film magazines like ‘Empire’ and ‘Total
Film’.
