The Diversity Wheel ~ for use by trainers developing individuals around diversity and equality.
The Diversity Wheel
Ethnicity and Age are core to a person. They can not be changed.
…………………………………….
When there is conflict – one way of looking at its level of seriousness is to assess what is being challenged within the individuals concerned and within yourself as a manager. Assess whether it is:
core and unalterable e.g. Age;
Core but alterable (next slide) by the individual with difficulty (e.g. Religion, Political Belief/Stance), or,
Life experiences which people can change and adapt to (subsequent slide…. e.g. Education, Role in Family.
The identified outside factors which bring about inequalities may also be a factor and play a role in “where a person is coming from”.

The Diversity Wheel
The center of the wheel represents internal dimensions that are usually most permanent or visible. The outside of the wheel represents dimensions that are acquired and change over the course of a lifetime. The combinations of all of these dimensions influence our values, beliefs, behaviors, experiences and expectations and make us all unique as individuals.
