1. Spaced series 2 episode 5
In spaced it is a comedy with lots of refences to pop
culture. This sets the idea of what audience they are
aiming for with around the age range of 18-25 film and
comic fanatics even to this day. This show what the tv
series audience is based around as well as what content
to expect from the film. Some examples of this are is
when Duane Benzie (Peter Serafinowicz) refences his
previous role as darth maul in the pub with Tim Bisley
(Simon Pegg) quoting “alarce I will have revenge” that is
a quote to the role he played voicing darth maul in the
phantom menace. Other refences are Tims room with
the judge Dredd poster and he’s keys having wolverine
on them. Showing the audenince really what this tv
series is aiming for audience wise making them relate
somewhat to the struggles like they do, an example of
this is when Tim is asked what “his plans are for tonight”
and cuts to a montage of him playing videogames.
Witch leads me to my 2nd
point of camera work and
editing. What I liked about spaced camera work is that
most of the shots are hand held. I like this method of
filming because it always makes any scenes so much
more intense for some reason esapssallymixed in with
the close ups in the conversations. This gives the show
2. much more of an engaging conversations. One of the
best examples of this is the stair off between our
protagonists and the teens where most conversations
are like that in the show but in that moment you really
get an idea of the tension between the characters.
Another shot I liked was the montage shot of Tim playing
videogames when asked “what he’ll be doing” as well as
the time laps really was a good combination of shots and
editing.
The editing where really good in the conversation secene
while on the phone it panned as if the person was in the
same room than cut with the pan still in motion to the
next person. Giving an effect that they’re in the same
room this works with the hand held camera work this
type of shot and transition I liked because it felt really
fluent in shot, that continued to the next person that was
speaking.
