2. Critical reading-
Critical reading is defined as defined as “a process characterized by careful and exact
evaluation and judgment” or “to judge a matter severely”. This kind of critical analysis
must be taught with reading material used in the classroom. Critical reading goes
beyond the basic prerequisite of general comprehension skill by making fuller use of
analytical thinking processes. This prerequisite in the need to determine from many
sources the best thinking on a point in question or area of study. According to many
reading authorities, critical reading skills should be taught through the newspaper whose
editorial policy reflects one parts point of view or whose slant on the news tends toward
the sensational limit the degree to which reading materials can be critically analyzed.
Most reading teachers think that critical reading skills should begin to be taught at
preschool reading readiness level. Here pictures can be interpreted and put in sequence,
details noted, generalizations made, and relationship determined.
Critical reading skills must continue to be taught through tout the elementary and high
school years, as one never really arrives at perfection in these skills. Basic to continuing
instruction is the necessity for numerous opportunities for students to express their ideas
openly and freely. Critical analysis of material cannot be conducted in threatening
situations in which the teacher does not allow for differences of opinion and belief.

Lectura crítica se define como “un proceso caracterizado por evaluación y juicio
cuidadoso y exacto” o “para juzgar severamente un asunto”. Este tipo de análisis crítico
debe ser enseñado con material de lectura utilizando en el aula. La lectura crítica va mas
allá del requisito básico de la habilidad de compresión general, haciendo un uso más
completo de los procesos de pensamiento analítico. Este requisito previo es la necesidad
de determinar desde muchas fuentes, el mejor pensamiento sobre un punto en cuestión o
área de estudio. De acuerdo con muchas autoridades de lectura, las habilidades de
lectura crítica deben ser enseñadas a través del periódico cuya política editorial refleja
un punto de vista de las partes o cuya inclinación en la noticias tiende hacia el limite
sensacional hasta el grado en que los materiales de lectura pueden ser analizados
críticamente.
La mayoría de los maestros de lectura piensan que las habilidades de lectura crítica
deben comenzar a ser enseñadas en el nivel preescolar de preparación para la lectura.

3. ANALYSIS OF CRITICAL READING
One of the objectives of basic and university education is to develop students’ critical
thinking to access knowledge. This thinking is a chievedif they increase their capacity
for critical reading, comprehension and reflection to problematize ideas and facts, to
discover intentions and ideologies and to adopt points of view, building specific
knowledge of a community.
ANÁLISIS DE LA LECTURA CRÍTICA
Uno de los objetivos de la educación básica y universitaria es desarrollar el pensamiento
crítico de los alumnos para acceder a los conocimientos. Este pensamiento se alcanza si
se incrementa en ellos su capacidad de lectura crítica, comprensión y reflexión para
problematizar las ideas y los hechos, descubrir intenciones e ideologías y adoptar puntos
de vista, construyendo conocimientos específicos propios de una comunidad.
