Gandhi’s pics removed from offices, now from
currency notes? BJP, Cong ask AAP in Gujarat
First India Bureau
Ahmedabad: Amid a
row over Arvind Kejri-
wal’s appeal for print-
ing images of Hindu
deities on currency
notes, the BJP and the
opposition Congress in
Gujarat on Friday criti-
cised the Aam Aadmi
Party for removing Ma-
hatma Gandhi’s photos
from government offic-
es in Punjab, where the
AAP is in power.
The Bhagwant Mann
government has in-
stalled images of Bha-
gat Singh and Babasa-
heb Ambedkar in
government offices.
“The AAP has re-
moved Gandhiji’s pho-
tos from the Punjab
Chief Minister’s Office
as well as from all gov-
ernment offices after
coming to power. People
need to remain cautious
to make sure the AAP
does not remove Gan-
dhiji’s photos from cur-
rency notes too,” Guja-
rat BJP president CR
Paatil said.
Kejriwal and Bhag-
want Mann were in
Panchmahal district of
Gujarat on Friday to ad-
dress a rally ahead of
the Assembly polls.
Rajasthan Chief Min-
ister Ashok Gehlot, who
has been appointed sen-
ior observer for Gujarat
polls by the Congress,
also slammed the AAP
over the removal of Ma-
hatma Gandhi’s images
from offices in Punjab.
“Gujarat is the land
of Mahatma Gandhi.
He is revered by people
around the world. But,
the AAP has removed
Gandhiji’s photos from
government offices in
Punjab. The people of
Gujarat need to drive
them out,” Gehlot said.

PM MOOTS IDEA OF “ONE NATION, ONE UNIFORM” FOR POLICE
PM Modi said the identity of the police force across the country should be identical. Address-
ing the Chintan Shivi, he floated the idea of ‘one nation, one uniform’ for police’. Modi said
he wasn’t forcing the idea on any state but the ministers must give it a thought. He thought this
could happen over a long time. Elaborating on his idea, he said this would help manufactur-
ers to make a quality product due to the large scale involved and it would also give the law
enforcement personnel a common identity so that they can be identified in all states.

New Delhi (PTI): JNU
student Sharjeel Imam
on Friday urged the
Delhi High Court to de-
fer by six weeks his bail
hearing in a case relat-
ed to the 2020 riots here,
saying he was seeking
further legal advice
following the court's
observations on him
while denying bail to
co-accused Umar
Khalid.
Imam in his ad-
journment application
said the court made
certain observations
without hearing his
case which made it in-
cumbent upon him to
seek further legal ad-
vice and to explore the
possibility of legal
remedy before the pre-
sent appeal is heard.
His case, registered
under anti-terror law
Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act
(UAPA), is related to
the northeast Delhi ri-
ots that left 53 people
dead and over 700 in-
jured. The violence had
erupted during pro-
tests against the Citi-
zenship (Amendment)
Act and the National
Register of Citizens.
A bench of justices
Siddharth Mridul and
Rajnish Bhatnagar list-
ed on December 16
Imam's appeal chal-
lenging a trial court
refusing to grant him
bail while expressing
its displeasure with re-
spect to the submis-
sions made in the appli-
cation.
To say that you are
seeking legal advice in
another matter cannot
be a ground. It cannot
be done in this manner.
You can ask for an ad-
journment simplicitor
and we may consider
but do not make legal
arguments and then
ask us to adjourn a
matter. Don't put all
this on record, the
high court said.
At the specific re-
quest of the counsel for
the appellant (Imam),
list after six weeks on
December 16, it or-
dered.
The court also listed
for hearing on Novem-
ber 18 bail pleas by
other co-accused in the
matter, including
Khalid Saifi and Meer-
an Haider.
While refusing to
grant bail to former
JNU student leader
Khalid in the case on
October 18, the court
had observed that
Imam arguably was at
the head of the conspir-
acy and there existed a
string of commonality
running amongst all
the co-accused.
Imam, Khalid and
several others have
been booked under the
UAPA and provisions
of the Indian Penal
Code (IPC) for allegedly
being the master-
minds of the February
2020 riots.
On April 11, Special
Judge Amitabh Rawat
denied relief to Imam
who has been charged
under various sections
of the IPC and the
UAPA.
In his appeal, Imam
has submitted that he
is a final year Ph.D. stu-
dent having no prior
criminal antecedents
and the trial court
failed to appreciate
that the entire investi-
gation is faulty and
that there is no connec-
tion between his
speeches and the inci-
dents of violence.
Ghaziabad (PTI): A
man accused of killing
the son of a former Del-

ing an altercation over

them, they said. Thirty-
five-year-old Varun, son
of a retired assistant

Delhi Police and resi-
dent of Jawli village in
the Teela Mor area, was
battered to death with
bricks by the assailants
after a squabble over car

Teela Mor police ar-
rested Sharma, hailing
from Rajpur village,
from Karan Gate area
on the basis of CCTV
footage and a video of
the incident that had
gone viral on social me-
dia, officials said.
Sharma had fled the
scene of the crime in a
carthathelaterdumped
at Farukh Nagar, they
said.SeniorSuperinten-
dent of Police (SSP) Mu-
niraj G said when police
took Sharma to the spot
to recover the car, he
tried to escape after
snatching the service
revolver of sub-inspec-
tor Subhash and firing
at the cops.
The police team re-
taliated and Sharma
sustained a bullet inju-
ry in his right leg. He
was taken to the district
government hospital for
treatment, the SSP said.
Sharma has several
criminal cases regis-
tered against him, the
officer added.
According to police,
Varun, along with his
two friends, had gone to
the eatery for dinner
and parked his car near
another vehicle, the
door of which could not
open due to it.
This led to the alter-
cation during which
Varun was allegedly at-
tacked with bricks by
the assailants.

Commission for Air
Quality Management in
NCR and adjoining ar-
eas has intensified its
efforts to ensure en-
forcement and compli-
ance with its directions
after the air quality of
the national capital
plunged to the “severe”
category on Friday
.
The capital witnessed
a drop to the severe cat-
egory for the first time
this season due to poor
dispersion of pollut-
ants owing to weak
winds, according to the
Central Pollution Con-
trol Board (CPCB). The
forecast of the average
Air Quality Index (AQI)
of Delhi is likely to be
in the “Poor” and “Very
Poor” categories given
the unfavourable cli-
matic and meteorologi-
cal conditions that gen-
erally prevail in the
NCR during winters
and the occurrence of
farm fires.
Environmentalist
Vimlendu Jha said Se-
vere category AQI is
very dangerous and it
affects even healthy
people and seriously
impacts those with ex-
isting diseases.
“In such circum-
stances, schools should
be closed and outdoor
movement should be
prohibited because se-
vere category AQI im-
pacts all aspects of
life,” Jha said.
As per the Ministry
of Environment, Forest

the commission has
been informing and
sensitizing all stake-

Both the BJP and

the demand, he said.
“I want to tell both
the BJP and the Con-
gress that 130 crore peo-
ple of the country want
the pictures of Ganesh

AAP leader said.
The Bharatiya Jana-
ta Party (BJP) has de-
scribed Kejriwal's de-
mand as an unsuccess-
ful attempt to hide the
anti-Hindu face of his
party during Gujarat

elections.
Kejriwal on Friday
also said that the first
thing his party's gov-
ernment will do in Gu-
jarat is to end corrup-
tion, like it did in Delhi
and Punjab.
The ill-gotten wealth
of corrupt MLAs and
ministers will be recov-
ered, he said.
“No chief minister
or MLA will steal. And
if he does, he will go to
jail....Even my son or
my brother will go to
jail if they steal,” the
Delhi CM said at the
rally. Talking about in-
flation, he said he will
help people like a fami-
ly member.
“Gujarat has the
highest inflation in the
country. I will first rid
you of inflation. After
March 1, you will not be
required to pay elec-
tricity bills. I will do it
for you,” Kejriwal said.

Ballia (PTI): Samajwadi Party leader Swa-

Minister Arvind Ke-
jriwal of champion-
ing RSS and BJP
agenda by his advo-
cating of gods' pic-
tures on Indian bank-
notes.
Speaking to media
on the sidelines of a
programme of Kushwaha Samaj at the dis-
trict headquarters on Thursday night, Mau-
rya said, Arvind Kejriwal neither has knowl-
edge of the Indian Constitution, nor does he
know how to respect the secular Indian Con-
stitution. Kejriwal's complicity with BJP and
RSS has become clear.
Kejriwal is speaking only what the RSS is
getting him to speak. He is using the language
similar to that of BJP's and RSS', good sense
should prevail on him, Maurya said, adding,
Kejriwal can do anything in his greed for
votes.
Maurya said that there are 34 crore deities
in the country and even if the government
puts two pictures on the currency notes, what
would happen to the other deities.
What will happen to other religious lead-
ers in the country? he also asked.
I am not saying that the country will
make progress only by printing their pic-
tures; we will also work hard.

ndia’s first geneti-

mustard has been ap-
proved for seed pro-
duction before it is
approved as the country’s first
indigenous hybrid mustard and
released for commercial purpos-
es. This will be a major step to-
wards increasing the production
of oilseeds for which the country
is heavily import- dependent.
Against an annual production of
around 8.5 million tonnes of ed-
ible oil, India imports around
14.5 mt of edible oil to meet its
domestic demand of edible oil.
Genetically modified crops
have met stiff resistance from
farmers and environmentalists.
The first to be opposed tooth and
nail was Bt cotton despite sui-
cides by cotton growers due to
crop losses. Once introduced in
2002 the insect and pest resistant
crop has benefited farmers by
cutting expenditure on insecti-
cides and increased production.
As controversial as Bt cotton
was Bt brinjal the commercial re-
lease of which was foiled by envi-
ronmentalists. The GM mustard
may also require government
clearanceforcommercialrelease.

derstand that transgenic crops

T
he word accountability is giv-
en least importance in India.
Employees work hard at their
work place but they don’t care
how much contribution their
hard work is adding to their
organization profit. The con-
cern of “profit” merely re-
mains till the promoters and
the finance department. The
marketingandmanufacturing
department primarily con-
tribute to business and prod-
uct generation. While other
departments of any organiza-
tion identify themselves as a
support function, which is not
correct. Be it be HR Depart-
ment, supply chain depart-
mentorthemarketingdepart-
ment,eachdepartmentandits
headmustactasprofit-centric
head for their organization.
What should be the role of
the head of the department
and how they can work as
profit centric head, let’s take
a look. It is usually the head
of the Department who has to
look up to the administrative
affairs of his department.
Generally
, what a head of de-
partment does is that he mon-
itors his department and em-
ployees working under him
perform better than other
departments of the company
.
Often, it is also possible that
the head of the department is
superior to all of his employ-
ees just to show to the man-
agement, to resort to internal
constraints and policies and
to compete with others. A
healthy competition between
the two departments offers
good productivity in the com-
pany, but in the competition
to prove themselves superior
an atmosphere of internal
clashes and stress is created.
When we say that the head
of the department should act
as the profit center head, the
meaning of the concept is to
changethewholemindsetand
perspectiveof thedepartment
towardsthecompany
.Theday
when the departmental heads
start working considering the
point of view of the top man-
agements and focus on how
their departments can con-
tribute to the company’s di-
rectgrowth,theycanbecalled
the best departmental head.
The head of the department
should work with the employ-
ees of their department in
such a way that each and eve-
ry employee of the depart-
ment can share their contri-
bution and show involvement
in the company’s growth.
LET’S CONSIDER
AN EXAMPLE
Henry Ford, who was the own-
er of the world famous Ford
Company
, had a different vi-
sion and way of working from
that of other promoters. He
used to hold regular meetings
with all the heads of depart-
ments,hislessonswerespecial
for all the employees. He also
sometimes used to interact di-
rectly with the employees and
said, “Life is the Ocean of Ex-
periences!” every experience
teach and inspire us to do
somethingnew.Healsousedto
say to his employees, do what-
ever you want to do it with
yourheartandfulldedication.
By doing things with heart
special contributions can be
made to the organization.
Henry always advised his
departmental heads that if
theyareabletogivelong-term
and positive vision to the em-
ployees and show them how
they can contribute and be a
partner in company’s growth
thenyouareanexcellentlead-
er. The easiest way to achieve
this is to create a sense of
ownership spirit in every em-
ployee. Every work profile
should be respected and every
work should be done from
heartwillfulldedication.And
the person who works with
proper dedication will be-
come a partner in the com-
pany’s growth in true senses.
The heads of each depart-
ment should recognize the
strengths of their employees
and distribute the work ac-
cordingly. Henry always ad-
vised employees saying, “Di-
vide your wok into small
targets, this will make easy
for you to reach the goal. This
will help you achieve big tar-
gets.” If you take a look away
from your goal then it means
that you have lost control to
reach your goal and you need
to focus. The most difficult
and effortful work is to make
every employee of your team
to work in team. If this is an
easy task for you then you
come out as a good leader but
if you are weak leader then
employees will not associate
themselves with your vision.
The conclusion of the dis-
cussion comes out to be that
the head of the department
should make every employee
of his team participate in the
company’s work keeping in
mind their vision and goals.
Some tips.
z The head of each department
should check their employ-
ees to work in a team.
z The head of the department
should work together with
other heads and participate
equally in the company’s
growth.
z The head of the department
should check how each em-
ployee can participate in the
company’s growth and distrib-
ute the work accordingly.
z It is the responsibility of the
departmental head to see
that every employee looks
after their work and works
towards progress.
THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY
THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL

Surajkund (PTI):
Prime Minister Naren-

a gathering of home

said while ensuring the
best technology the
states should avoid any
budgetary constraints
that may come in the
way of adoption of tech-

He said the criminal
world has globalised and
stressed that “we need to
be ten steps ahead” of
them (criminals).
PM pointed out that
crime is no longer local-
ised and instances of
interstate, international
crimes are going up.
“That is why mutual
cooperation between
state agencies and be-
tween central and state
agencies is becoming
crucial,” Modi said.
He said whether it is
cybercrime or the use of
drone technologies for
the smuggling of weap-
ons or drugs, the govt
needs to keep working
towards new technolo-

FM ASKS STATES
Ease logistics burden
onexporters:Nirmala
Kakinada (PTI): Union
Finance Minister Nirmala
Sitharaman on Friday
asked States to adopt a
multi-modal approach and
ensure logistics did not
become a burden on
exporters.
She said the PM Gati
Shakti was a beautiful pro-
tocol with which a synergy
could be brought in.
Sitharaman referred to
‘One District-One Product’
and ‘Vocal for Local’, initia-
tives, aimed at promoting
local products and creating
their export markets.
She said the Commerce
Ministry was working on
getting an export policy
that would help the export-
ers by giving them incen-
tives and promoting many
things.
“There’s a repetitive and
very relevant line that the
Commerce Minister refers
to … ‘We can’t be exporting
taxes.’ We also should iden-
tify ways in which those
taxes – whether Centre,
State or local – that are on
these products should be
removed so that we don’t
burden their exporters,”
the Finance Minister said.
The governments did not
get much revenue from
those products but bur-
dened the exporters never-
theless, she noted. She said
the growing cost of elec-
tricity and logistics was
also affecting the exports.
“With better roads and
ports coming… electronic
facilitation for the customs
operations coming…surely
,
the logistics element is be-
ing addressed little by lit-
tle. State governments
should also spend some
time to see that logistics
doesn’t become a burden
on exporters,” Sitharaman
said. The Finance Minister
referred to the Prime Min-
ister’s suggestion that
States should open export
promotion offices in Indian
embassies abroad.
“If you have the capacity
to tell the kind of things
you produce that are inter-
national class… our embas-
sies are the place where
you should be and target
the markets there. Some of
our States are the size of
some European countries.
We have the capacity even
as a district to capture the
market outside,” she said.

High inflation is
a result of price
shocks: Bhide
New Delhi (PTI): The
high inflation rate in the
last three quarters is main-
ly a consequence of the
‘exogenous’ price shocks,
and addressing the issue
will require coordinated
policy efforts, RBI Mone-
tary Policy Committee
(MPC) member Shashanka
Bhide has said.
Bhide further said the
inflationary pressures are
high and it certainly is a
test for India’s inflation
targeting framework.
“The high inflation rate
in Q2 FY2022-23 follows
high inflation in the previ-
ous two quarters.
“High fuel and food pric-
es and their spillover to
other sectors have sus-
tained the high inflation
rate,” he said.
The retail inflation
based on CPI has remained
above 6% since January
2022, and it was 7.41% in
September.
“While this pattern is
mainly a consequence of
the exogenous price
shocks, it is important to
take measures to limit the
spillover of the price
shocks to the rest of the
economy

Kakinada (PTI): Union
Minister for Commerce
and Industry Piyush Goyal
on Friday said that foreign
trade would become a truly
defining feature that would
help India become a $30
trillion economy in the
Amrit Kaal.
“We have reached that
inflection point, we are at
the cusp, where we are go-
ing to take off. If we have
the ambition to be at least
ten times in the next 25
years...We are looking to
cross the $30 trillion
economy with a per capita
GDP of 15,000 dollar,”
Goyal said.
Goyal noted that foreign
trade would become a truly
defining feature in the
years to come “as we work
in the Amrit Kaal in the
next 25 years and progress

Goyal said foreign trade
was going to truly help in

ambitious target.
“This is the path that we
are going to achieve. It’s
very much achievable and
doable,” he remarked.

SWADESHI JAGRAN MANCH
RED FLAGS ‘GM MUSTARD’
Genetically modified variety ‘dangerous’, ensure not planted ‘now or ever’
New Delhi (PTI): The
Swadeshi Jagran
Manch (SJM) on Friday
opposed a regulatory
body’s recommenda-
tion for environmental
release of genetically
modified mustard, call-
ing it “dangerous” and
urged the Centre to en-
sure that the crop’s seed
is not allowed to be
planted “now or ever”.
In a letter to Union
Environment Minister
Bhupender Yadav, the
RSS-affiliated organisa-
tion accused the Genet-
ic Engineering Apprais-
al Committee (GEAC)
of functioning in an
“irresponsible fashion”
and said the claims
made in support of ge-
netically modified (GM)
mustard were “com-
pletely untrue, unsub-
stantiated and wrongly
projected”.
“Swadeshi Jagran
Manch has all along
been opposing this dan-
gerous and unneeded
GM mustard being
brought in through the
backdoor as a public
sector genetically modi-
fied organism (GMO),”
organisation co-conven-
or Ashwani Mahajan
said in the letter.

Police, in Port Blair on Friday. —PHOTO BY PTI
‘BAYER’S PATENT, NOT SWADESHI’
SJM co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan termed as
“completely untrue” the claim that GM mustard was
‘swadeshi’ and had been developed in India. “We
would like to bring it to your kind notice that in 2002,
Proagro Seed Company, which is Bayer’s subsidi-
ary, applied for commercial approval for a similar
construct that Prof Pental and his team are now pro-
moting as HT Mustard DMH 11,” he said. Mahajan
was referring to scientist Deepak Pental, whose GM
mustard technology has been approved by the GEAC.
Bayer’s application at that point was turned down
because the Indian Council of Agricultural Research
(ICAR) said their field trials did not offer evidence of
superior yield, he underlined. It is “well known” that
hybridisation of GM mustard is achieved by means
of two genes barnase and barstar, derived from a soil
bacterium called Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Mahajan
said. The bar-barstar-barnase gene is a patented
technology of Bayer Crop Science, he said.
‘NO BETTER YIELD’
Mahajan said another claim that GM mustard
would increase domestic production and reduce
India’s import dependencies was “unsubstantiated
and wrongly projected”. The GMO mustard has no
yield advantage compared to indigenous hybrids,
he added. “The data from Rapeseed Mustard Re-
search (DRMR), Bharatpur, clearly shows that the
claim of Prof Deepak Pantel that his GM mustard
would increase yield by 26 percent is deceptive
and misleading as there are several existing hybrid
varieties that outperform the transgenic variety
DMH-11,” the SJM co-convenor said. “In fact, for
reasons best known to the developer, the exist-
ence of better performing non-GM hybrids from
his own stable has been concealed and he has
chosen to falsify the data by comparing the yield
performance of GM mustard with some of
very old varieties having lesser yield.”

The woman said as her father and stepmother
did not take care of her financial needs, she
needed a job and was introduced by some
people to the labour commissioner as he was

in the FIR that the chief secretary appointed
“7,800 candidates” in various departments in

Mumbai: Veteran actor

only deepen”.
Speaking after inau-
gurating ‘We Are on

he also said that to fight

30 installations created
by students of JJ School
of Art, has been put to-
gether by ‘Friends of

activists.
“Dr Dabholkar was

Shah said.
“I am proud that I

NEW DELHI, SATURDAY,
OCTOBER 29, 2022
Adding a jacket to any ensemble gives it charm and makes one look
sophisticated and classy. Any ensemble that incorporates ethnic jackets
gains magic and becomes an occult statement item. City First brings to
you the significance of jackets in the ethnic world!
ashion is what you adopt when
you don’t know who you are. In-
dian fashion is wonderful. ash-
ion is what you adopt when you
don’t know who you are. Indian
fashion is wonderful. Every en-
chanted flower, each brisk
breeze, each wintry snowfall, the end-
less hours and agonising efforts it takes
to complement the wearer’s style like
Indian girls themselves. You can style
ethnic jackets anyplace and however,
you choose. An ordinary outfit can be-
come a standout piece by adding an eth-
nic jacket. Three different jacket styles
can be worn over a saree - long jackets,
short jackets and medium-sized jackets.
This modern way of wearing a saree
with a jacket makes it another designer
ensemble in and of itself. There are two
ways to wear it, either inside like a
blouse and wrapping the pallu over the
jacket, or outside like a jacket over a sa-
ree pallu. Again, the body form is what
immediately lends a glam appearance.
Indian design is complex. Go for a
black skirt and blouse combo with a
colourfully embroidered short jacket
if you’re having trouble deciding
what kind of jacket to wear with what
colour. This instantly creates a ritzy
appearance that can be worn for any
celebratory occasion.
Who in the world will say no to
pairing an ethnic embroidered
jacketwithafull-lengthAnarka-
li kurta? Some embroidery
jackets are finely made with
alluring details in them giving
a classy yet posh wedding-
ready look. When you have a
straightforward Anarkali
suit and a stylish jacket with
an all-over body sequence, it
is pure happiness.
Traditional jackets are
also frequently worn by
people who seek to give
their appearance a sense of
authority and power. Such
jackets were worn by the
royals of Western India
during those grand cele-
brations and ceremonies.
See how the same kurta set
can give you a light look
when worn alone or a weighty
look when worn with a jacket
that has delicate sequin em-
broidery. For women or girls
who want to achieve two
looks with one dress, this
three-piece set is perfect.
The same attire can be
transformed into a du-
al-look outfit. By sim-
ply mixing and match-
ing the components
of an outfit, it is pos-
sible to dress Indian
wear in a variety of
ways. By experi-
menting, you can
generate a wide va-
riety of fashion
trends. Just start
with the ethnic
jackets if you
wish to incorpo-
rate new things
into your fashion
sense. Jackets
over ethnic are
the finest work
wear for a girl
who likes to
style her ordi-
nary work
clothing in a
c o n t e m p o -
rary way.

THE WORLD STAGE
THE WORLD STAGE
hen Shake-
speare, the
great play-
w r i g h t ,
penned his
i m m o r t a l
words “ALL
THE WORLD’S A
STAGE”, his view was
limited to a metaphor. He
could not have imagined
that a young, skinny
Hindu would become the
PM of the UK and pio-
neer a new World Stage
for generations to follow.
The meteoric rise of
Rishi Sunak to the high-
est office in Great Brit-
ain is being hailed the
world over, albeit
through deviating
prisms. Sadly, in some
dark minds, his rise is
being seen as a body
blow and a conspiracy
against the whites.
But, as a matter of
fact, his rise is the cut-
ting edge of human evo-
lution, for it has pushed
mankind many miles
closer to that distant uto-
pia where man nature
will coexist in eternal
bliss.
While Indians are cel-
ebrating pluralism in a
country that ruled over
them for 200 years, they
are letting monism crawl
out at home. Coloured
people are feeling some-
what vindicated that
their skin shade is noth-
ing but a pigment of the
imagination.
What Sunak
really
represents is the tri-
umph of core human
values of hard work, in-
tegrity and learning.
He has proven that the
barriers of religion
colour are high only for
the mediocre. To step
over them with alacrity,
sangfroid the confi-
dence of a Barack, Ri-
shi, Manmohan or Lal
Bahadur, one has to be-
come taller in character,
professional integrity
wisdom, all honed by
quality education. Such
personalities belie the
excuses, alibis and self-
justifications of the lazy
and corrupt.
Having said that, for
such efforts to fructify,
the ground of liberal
thought (democracy) is a
prerequisite, even if
partly tilled. Is it any
surprise that such leaps
are well nigh impossible
in autocratic or theocrat-
ic states? Only democra-
cies, the crucibles of lib-
eral thought, can make it
possible. They welcome
pure talent integrity to
break their fossilized
thoughts on colour, reli-
gion etc and cement
their democratic values.
Rishi Sunak
has enkindled
many a flame
across the world
stage. He has add-
ed fuel to a mil-
lion burning spir-
its who can now dare
to dream big !!
Just as electricity, a
miracle once, is now the
most common utility in
our lives, so too would
that stage be that
Rishi has
set up so adroitly
.
For thousands of
years, Mt.Everest stood
unconquered, until the
young Edmund Hillary
climbed it in 1953. Ever
since, in 69 short years,
more than 6,000 have
climbed that peak., with
one Nepali Sherpa mak-
ing 26 ascents !! By the
way, his name is Kami
Rita, in case his effort
has been lost in the dust
of that oft-tread path !!
Even though the irre-
pressible comics cyn-
ics will add grist to their
humour rumour mills,
they can never take
away the breathtaking
conquest of Rishi Su-
nak, the 57th PM of
Great Britain, once the
biggest empire the world
has known. The trail he
has blazed will make it
easier for the ones who
are sure to emulate his
extraordinary feat.

every movie promotion, she comes to
make statements with her looks. Glam-
our is at the heart and soul of it all and
to do it once again with Mili came to us as no
revelation, our eyes are lovin' it. The actress
is primarily paying pretty and flawless trib-
utes to ethnic ensembles and we love how this
Monika Nidhii saree got itself hooked
onto her style list.
Trust to deliver the best with the
25-year-old's latest look. In her case,
it was striking with colours and it is
good for when you want something
colourful such as a wedding or a
puja attendee. This lime green crea-
tion isn't a clichéd hue, the top
reason why this look is worth ref-
erencing and giving it a first pref-

could be your formula too for weddings and gath-

The family was dressed up in spectacular Fal-

  • 1. Gandhi’s pics removed from offices, now from currency notes? BJP, Cong ask AAP in Gujarat First India Bureau Ahmedabad: Amid a row over Arvind Kejri- wal’s appeal for print- ing images of Hindu deities on currency notes, the BJP and the opposition Congress in Gujarat on Friday criti- cised the Aam Aadmi Party for removing Ma- hatma Gandhi’s photos from government offic- es in Punjab, where the AAP is in power. The Bhagwant Mann government has in- stalled images of Bha- gat Singh and Babasa- heb Ambedkar in government offices. “The AAP has re- moved Gandhiji’s pho- tos from the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office as well as from all gov- ernment offices after coming to power. People need to remain cautious to make sure the AAP does not remove Gan- dhiji’s photos from cur- rency notes too,” Guja- rat BJP president CR Paatil said. Kejriwal and Bhag- want Mann were in Panchmahal district of Gujarat on Friday to ad- dress a rally ahead of the Assembly polls. Rajasthan Chief Min- ister Ashok Gehlot, who has been appointed sen- ior observer for Gujarat polls by the Congress, also slammed the AAP over the removal of Ma- hatma Gandhi’s images from offices in Punjab. “Gujarat is the land of Mahatma Gandhi. He is revered by people around the world. But, the AAP has removed Gandhiji’s photos from government offices in Punjab. The people of Gujarat need to drive them out,” Gehlot said. Imam in his ad- journment application said the court made certain observations without hearing his case which made it in- cumbent upon him to seek further legal ad- vice and to explore the possibility of legal remedy before the pre- sent appeal is heard. His case, registered under anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), is related to the northeast Delhi ri- ots that left 53 people dead and over 700 in- jured. The violence had erupted during pro- tests against the Citi- zenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens. While refusing to grant bail to former JNU student leader Khalid in the case on October 18, the court had observed that Imam arguably was at the head of the conspir- acy and there existed a string of commonality running amongst all the co-accused. Imam, Khalid and several others have been booked under the UAPA and provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly being the master- minds of the February 2020 riots. On April 11, Special Judge Amitabh Rawat denied relief to Imam who has been charged under various sections of the IPC and the UAPA. In his appeal, Imam has submitted that he is a final year Ph.D. stu- dent having no prior criminal antecedents and the trial court failed to appreciate that the entire investi- gation is faulty and that there is no connec- tion between his speeches and the inci- dents of violence. It is usually the head of the Department who has to look up to the administrative affairs of his department. Generally , what a head of de- partment does is that he mon- itors his department and em- ployees working under him perform better than other departments of the company . Often, it is also possible that the head of the department is superior to all of his employ- ees just to show to the man- agement, to resort to internal constraints and policies and to compete with others. A healthy competition between the two departments offers good productivity in the com- pany, but in the competition to prove themselves superior an atmosphere of internal clashes and stress is created. When we say that the head of the department should act as the profit center head, the meaning of the concept is to changethewholemindsetand perspectiveof thedepartment towardsthecompany .Theday when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top man- agements and focus on how their departments can con- tribute to the company’s di- rectgrowth, theycanbecalled the best departmental head. The head of the department should work with the employ- ees of their department in such a way that each and eve- ry employee of the depart- ment can share their contri- bution and show involvement in the company’s growth. LET’S CONSIDER AN EXAMPLE Henry Ford, who was the own- er of the world famous Ford Company , had a different vi- sion and way of working from that of other promoters. He used to hold regular meetings with all the heads of depart- ments, hislessonswerespecial for all the employees. He also sometimes used to interact di- rectly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Ex- periences!” every experience teach and inspire us to do somethingnew.Healsousedto say to his employees, do what- ever you want to do it with yourheartandfulldedication. By doing things with heart special contributions can be made to the organization. Henry always advised his departmental heads that if theyareabletogivelong-term and positive vision to the em- ployees and show them how they can contribute and be a partner in company’s growth thenyouareanexcellentlead- er. The easiest way to achieve this is to create a sense of ownership spirit in every em- ployee. Every work profile should be respected and every work should be done from heartwillfulldedication. And the person who works with proper dedication will be- come a partner in the com- pany’s growth in true senses. The heads of each depart- ment should recognize the strengths of their employees and distribute the work ac- cordingly. Henry always ad- vised employees saying, “Di- vide your wok into small targets, this will make easy for you to reach the goal. This will help you achieve big tar- gets.” If you take a look away from your goal then it means that you have lost control to reach your goal and you need to focus. The most difficult and effortful work is to make every employee of your team to work in team. If this is an easy task for you then you come out as a good leader but if you are weak leader then employees will not associate themselves with your vision. The conclusion of the dis- cussion comes out to be that the head of the department should make every employee of his team participate in the company’s work keeping in mind their vision and goals. Some tips. z The head of each department should check their employ- ees to work in a team. z The head of the department should work together with other heads and participate equally in the company’s growth. z The head of the department should check how each em- ployee can participate in the company’s growth and distrib- ute the work accordingly. z It is the responsibility of the departmental head to see that every employee looks after their work and works towards progress. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL T Henry Ford, who was the owner of the world famous Ford Company, had a different vision and way of working from that of other promoters. His lessons were special for all the employees. He sometimes used to interact directly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Experiences!” The day when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top managements and focus on how their departments can contribute to the company’s direct growth, they can be called the best departmental head. They should work with employees in such a way that the staff is involved in firm’s growth CAN A DEPARTMENT HEAD WORK AS PROFIT CENTER HEAD? BHAVESH UPADHYAY The writer is a Businessman and HR Expert

In a letter to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, the RSS-affiliated organisa- tion accused the Genet- ic Engineering Apprais- al Committee (GEAC) of functioning in an “irresponsible fashion” and said the claims made in support of ge- netically modified (GM) mustard were “com- pletely untrue, unsub- stantiated and wrongly projected”. “Swadeshi Jagran Manch has all along been opposing this dan- gerous and unneeded GM mustard being brought in through the backdoor as a public sector genetically modi- fied organism (GMO),” organisation co-conven- or Ashwani Mahajan said in the letter. A man holds a placard in front of entrance to the Police Lines station of Andaman and Nicobar Police, in Port Blair on Friday. —PHOTO BY PTI ‘BAYER’S PATENT, NOT SWADESHI’ SJM co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan termed as “completely untrue” the claim that GM mustard was ‘swadeshi’ and had been developed in India. “We would like to bring it to your kind notice that in 2002, Proagro Seed Company, which is Bayer’s subsidi- ary, applied for commercial approval for a similar construct that Prof Pental and his team are now pro- moting as HT Mustard DMH 11,” he said. Mahajan was referring to scientist Deepak Pental, whose GM mustard technology has been approved by the GEAC. Bayer’s application at that point was turned down because the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) said their field trials did not offer evidence of superior yield, he underlined. It is “well known” that hybridisation of GM mustard is achieved by means of two genes barnase and barstar, derived from a soil bacterium called Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Mahajan said. The bar-barstar-barnase gene is a patented technology of Bayer Crop Science, he said. ‘NO BETTER YIELD’ Mahajan said another claim that GM mustard would increase domestic production and reduce India’s import dependencies was “unsubstantiated and wrongly projected”. The GMO mustard has no yield advantage compared to indigenous hybrids, he added. “The data from Rapeseed Mustard Re- search (DRMR), Bharatpur, clearly shows that the claim of Prof Deepak Pantel that his GM mustard would increase yield by 26 percent is deceptive and misleading as there are several existing hybrid varieties that outperform the transgenic variety DMH-11,” the SJM co-convenor said. “In fact, for reasons best known to the developer, the exist- ence of better performing non-GM hybrids from his own stable has been concealed and he has chosen to falsify the data by comparing the yield performance of GM mustard with some of very old varieties having lesser yield.” Port Blair (PTI): A Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned former chief secretary of Andaman and Nico- bar Islands Jitendra Narain for over eight hourshereonFridayin connection with the al- leged gang rape of a woman, anofficialsaid. The SIT of the police was constituted to probe into allegations that a 21-year-old wom- an in Andaman and Nicobar Islands was lured to the chief secre- tary’s residence by promising a govern- ment job and then raped by top officials includingNarainthere. LabourCommission- er R L Rishi was also accused of raping the woman while a police inspector and a hotel owner were named in the FIR as accomplices in the crime. The police inspector was also in- terrogated by the SIT on Friday . Narain was brought to the Police Lines in the morning for questioning which lasted over eight hours, the official said. He was taken inside the Police Lines in Port Blair through a rear door to avoid protest- ers. “A heinous crime was committed against the woman. We want justice for her,” a pro- tester, carrying a plac- ard denouncing Narain as a ‘rapist’, said. There is a possibility that Narain, who is staying in a private re- sorthere, willbegrilled again on Saturday, ac- cording to a source. Ex-Andaman chief secy grilled over ‘gang rape’ for 8 hours THE WOMAN’S COMPLAINT The woman said as her father and stepmother did not take care of her financial needs, she needed a job and was introduced by some people to the labour commissioner as he was close to the then chief secretary. She claimed in the FIR that the chief secretary appointed “7,800 candidates” in various departments in the administration of the islands “on the basis of recommendation only” and without any “formal interview”. The woman alleged that she was lured to the chief secretary’s home with the promise of a government job, and then raped there on April 14 and May 1. First India Bureau Mumbai: Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah on Friday said that Dr Nar- endra Dabholkar’s work cannot be erased and his “footprints will only deepen”. Speaking after inau- gurating ‘We Are on Trial’, an art exhibition on the slain rationalist, he also said that to fight superstition, the same conviction is needed as those who have super- stitions. The art exhibi- tion, which has around 30 installations created by students of JJ School of Art, has been put to- gether by ‘Friends of Dabholkar’, a group of activists. “Dr Dabholkar was among those great men whose footprints would deepen further instead of getting wiped out,” Shah said. “I am proud that I lived in the same era when people like Dr Dabholkar were a source of inspiration… not just him but Pan- sare, Kalburgi, Gauri Lankesh and those countless activists, teachers, and intellectu- als who are languishing in jail and we don’t know how long they will be in jail and whose crime was to speak the truth,” he said. The murder of Dr. Dabholkar in Pune on August 20, 2013 was fol- lowed by the murders of Kannada writer MM Kalburgi, communist leader Govind Pansare and journalist Gauri Lankesh. As per the in- vestigations, the four murders were commit- ted by the same group. The veteran actor also said that such mur- ders have taken place in Pakistan too, mention- ing the violent deaths of politician Salman Taseer and rights activ- ist Sabeen Mehmood. “In Iran, thousands of girls have put their lives at stake while car- rying on an agitation against the Hijab law. You can style ethnic jackets anyplace and however, you choose. An ordinary outfit can be- come a standout piece by adding an eth- nic jacket. Three different jacket styles can be worn over a saree - long jackets, short jackets and medium-sized jackets. This modern way of wearing a saree with a jacket makes it another designer ensemble in and of itself. There are two ways to wear it, either inside like a blouse and wrapping the pallu over the jacket, or outside like a jacket over a sa- ree pallu. Again, the body form is what immediately lends a glam appearance. Indian design is complex. Go for a black skirt and blouse combo with a colourfully embroidered short jacket if you’re having trouble deciding what kind of jacket to wear with what colour. This instantly creates a ritzy appearance that can be worn for any celebratory occasion. Who in the world will say no to pairing an ethnic embroidered jacketwithafull-lengthAnarka- li kurta? Some embroidery jackets are finely made with alluring details in them giving a classy yet posh wedding- ready look. When you have a straightforward Anarkali suit and a stylish jacket with an all-over body sequence, it is pure happiness. Traditional jackets are also frequently worn by people who seek to give their appearance a sense of authority and power. Such jackets were worn by the royals of Western India during those grand cele- brations and ceremonies. See how the same kurta set can give you a light look when worn alone or a weighty look when worn with a jacket that has delicate sequin em- broidery. For women or girls who want to achieve two looks with one dress, this three-piece set is perfect. The same attire can be transformed into a du- al-look outfit. By sim- ply mixing and match- ing the components of an outfit, it is pos- sible to dress Indian wear in a variety of ways. By experi- menting, you can generate a wide va- riety of fashion trends. Just start with the ethnic jackets if you wish to incorpo- rate new things into your fashion sense. The meteoric rise of Rishi Sunak to the high- est office in Great Brit- ain is being hailed the world over, albeit through deviating prisms. Sadly, in some dark minds, his rise is being seen as a body blow and a conspiracy against the whites. But, as a matter of fact, his rise is the cut- ting edge of human evo- lution, for it has pushed mankind many miles closer to that distant uto- pia where man nature will coexist in eternal bliss. While Indians are cel- ebrating pluralism in a country that ruled over them for 200 years, they are letting monism crawl out at home. Coloured people are feeling some- what vindicated that their skin shade is noth- ing but a pigment of the imagination. What Sunak really represents is the tri- umph of core human values of hard work, in- tegrity and learning. He has proven that the barriers of religion colour are high only for the mediocre. To step over them with alacrity, sangfroid the confi- dence of a Barack, Ri- shi, Manmohan or Lal Bahadur, one has to be- come taller in character, professional integrity wisdom, all honed by quality education. Such personalities belie the excuses, alibis and self- justifications of the lazy and corrupt. Having said that, for such efforts to fructify, the ground of liberal thought (democracy) is a prerequisite, even if partly tilled. Is it any surprise that such leaps are well nigh impossible in autocratic or theocrat- ic states? Only democra- cies, the crucibles of lib- eral thought, can make it possible. They welcome pure talent integrity to break their fossilized thoughts on colour, reli- gion etc and cement their democratic values. Rishi Sunak has enkindled many a flame across the world stage.
