Maharashtra’s ‘Maha-crisis’:
90 days, `1.80 lakh crore lost!
Kartikey Dev Singh
Mumbai: The state gov-
ernment has come un-
der heavy fire following
the Centre’s announce-
ment that the Tata-Air-
bus C-295 transport air-
craft project would be
set up in Gujarat, with
the opposition demand-
ing to know why the
project, meant to be set
up here, went to the
neighbouring state.
The Tata-Airbus pro-
ject, which could have
generated 6,000 jobs, is
hardly the first to move
out of the coastal state
led by Eknath Shinde
and Devendra Fadnavis
in recent times. Over
the course of about 90
days,investmentsworth

Mumbai: Newly elect-
ed Congress president
Mallikarjun Kharge
will soon head to Mum-
bai, where the party’s
city unit is marred by
factionalism, to smooth
ruffled feathers and
hopefully improve its
chances in the elections
to the Brihanmumbai
Municipal Corporation-
-the country’s richest-
-which are due shortly
.
Those familiar with
the issue say Kharge
may effect a change in
the city panel on
his trip here in a bid to
coalesce four warring
factions that have
formed within the
Mumbai Congress.
Former Mumbai Con-
gress President Sanjay
Nirupam, formerly of
the “Rahul Gandhi
camp”, has been side-
lined since of late. How-
ever, that has not
stopped him from bend-
ing the ears of Sonia
Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi
and even Kharge with
the latest happenings in
the Mumbai Congress.
Meanwhile, Kharge,
having been in charge
of the Mumbai unit of
the Grand Old Party in
the past, is well aware
of the strife within the
unit.
Word is that when

ers went to Turn to P6

Does this ED (Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis)
government belong to Maharashtra or Gujarat? This
government claimed that the Vedanta-Foxconn project
went to Gujarat due to the earlier MVA government. Now
because of whom did this project (Tata Airbus) go to Gu-
jarat? —Ambadas Danve, LoP, Maha Legislative Council
Despite so much development, the then MVA govt did not
send a single letter to the Centre. That govt did not even
follow up the issue with the Union govt. MVA leaders should
avoid diverting attention despite being aware of the facts. I chal-
lenge them to release a letter they had addressed to Tata-Airbus
in the past. —Keshav Upadhye, Maha BJP chief spokesperson
It is clear that Shinde
and Fadnavis are traitors
who are promoting the inter-
ests of Gujarat. Maharashtra
has the largest industry in
the country. Prime Minister
Modi worries that Gujarat is
behind Maharashtra. That is
why ever since he became
the Prime Minister, he has
planned to shift important
projects and institutions in
Maharashtra to Gujarat.
—Nana Patole, President,
Maharashtra Pradesh Con-
gress Committee
The agreement to build
Tata Airbus cargo plane
in Vadodara, Gujarat, was
inked on September 21,
2021. At that time, there was
no Shinde-Fadnavis govern-
ment in the state; the Uddhav
Thackeray-led MVA govern-
ment was at helm. The Maha
Vikar Aghadi government did
nothing to bring this project
to Maharashtra.
—Uday Samant, Industries
Minister
Chief Minister Shinde had clearly said that the Tata
Airbus project to build C-295 military transport
aircraft will come to Nagpur after Vedanta-Foxconn exited.
But Shinde’s false role has now come to the fore. BJP has
made Shinde the chief minister only to transfer mega pro-
jects from Maharashtra to Gujarat. Eknath Shinde should
also resign like Liz Truss.

UNTESTED
LEADERSHIP?
The root of the matter is that
detractors feel that Mumbai
Congress chief Bhai Jagtap
and working president
Charan Singh Sapra are not
field tested. Jagtap has only
won one Assembly election,
and Sapra is yet to make a
single notch on his meta-
phorical belt. This has led to
questions about their ability
to lead the party to a win in
the coming days.

PM MOOTS IDEA OF “ONE NATION, ONE UNIFORM” FOR POLICE
PM Modi said the identity of the police force across the country should be identical. Address-
ing the Chintan Shivi, he floated the idea of ‘one nation, one uniform’ for police’. Modi said
he wasn’t forcing the idea on any state but the ministers must give it a thought. He thought this
could happen over a long time. Elaborating on his idea, he said this would help manufactur-
ers to make a quality product due to the large scale involved and it would also give the law
enforcement personnel a common identity so that they can be identified in all states.

Mumbai: Rubbishing

Chief Minister

Elections to 27 munic-

A statement from the

case is pending before

after its verdict on it, the

Mumbai: Maharash-

a dedicated cyber in-
telligence unit will
be set up in the state
to curb cyber and fi-

He was speaking at
the Chintan Shivir, be-

policy matters related
to internal security.
Fadnavis said that
the cyber intelligence

view that cybercrime
may pose an increas-
ing challenge in the
future. He said this

ensure a speedy re-

will unite banks, fi-

He added that Ma-

the process to enter
these details in the

their identity easily.
He said the system
would benefit all
states, as it would al-
low them to check the
database and expedite
their inquiry.
Stating that the fight
against Naxalism is
going strong with the
Centre’s support, the
Dy CM said urban
Naxalism has emerged

efforts are being made
to tackle it effectively.
He added that efforts
are also on to increase
the percentage of
crime detection and
conviction through
various technical and
forensic evidence.

theft of 11 “panch-

The theft occurred

Pune saw 3,000+ suspected
cases of dengue since Aug
First India Bureau
Pune: The Pune Mu-
nicipal Corporation
(PMC) said on Friday
that over 3,000 sus-
pected cases of den-
gue fever were re-
corded during the
course of the last
three months (Au-
gust to October).
In total, 2,974 notices
have been sent by the
civic authority to socie-
ties and construction
sites, along w i t h
questions about why no
action should be taken
against them for hav-
ing mosquito breeding
grounds.
While doctors are
forecasting a drop in
instances over the fol-
lowing two weeks as
winter sets in, a lengthy
period of heavy rain is
what caused a post-Di-
wali rise in cases.
This year, the civic
health body reported
4,493 suspected dengue
cases. Of these, 1062
were recorded in Au-
gust, and 1188 in Sep-
tember. Up until Octo-
ber, the PMC has identi-
fied 796 suspected den-
gue fever cases.
The prolonged spell
of rain in October has
led to waterlogging and
according to Dr Sanjeev
Wavare, assistant medi-
cal chief, PMC. The
breeding of dengue-
causing aedes aegypti
mosquitoes continues
at these sites, he added.
“The civic adminis-

ndia’s first geneti-

mustard has been ap-
proved for seed pro-
duction before it is
approved as the country’s first
indigenous hybrid mustard and
released for commercial purpos-
es. This will be a major step to-
wards increasing the production
of oilseeds for which the country
is heavily import- dependent.
Against an annual production of
around 8.5 million tonnes of ed-
ible oil, India imports around
14.5 mt of edible oil to meet its
domestic demand of edible oil.
Genetically modified crops
have met stiff resistance from
farmers and environmentalists.
The first to be opposed tooth and
nail was Bt cotton despite sui-
cides by cotton growers due to
crop losses. Once introduced in
2002 the insect and pest resistant
crop has benefited farmers by
cutting expenditure on insecti-
cides and increased production.
As controversial as Bt cotton
was Bt brinjal the commercial re-
lease of which was foiled by envi-
ronmentalists. The GM mustard
may also require government
clearanceforcommercialrelease.

derstand that transgenic crops

T
he word accountability is giv-
en least importance in India.
Employees work hard at their
work place but they don’t care
how much contribution their
hard work is adding to their
organization profit. The con-
cern of “profit” merely re-
mains till the promoters and
the finance department. The
marketingandmanufacturing
department primarily con-
tribute to business and prod-
uct generation. While other
departments of any organiza-
tion identify themselves as a
support function, which is not
correct. Be it be HR Depart-
ment, supply chain depart-
mentorthemarketingdepart-
ment,eachdepartmentandits
headmustactasprofit-centric
head for their organization.
What should be the role of
the head of the department
and how they can work as
profit centric head, let’s take
a look. It is usually the head
of the Department who has to
look up to the administrative
affairs of his department.
Generally
, what a head of de-
partment does is that he mon-
itors his department and em-
ployees working under him
perform better than other
departments of the company
.
Often, it is also possible that
the head of the department is
superior to all of his employ-
ees just to show to the man-
agement, to resort to internal
constraints and policies and
to compete with others. A
healthy competition between
the two departments offers
good productivity in the com-
pany, but in the competition
to prove themselves superior
an atmosphere of internal
clashes and stress is created.
When we say that the head
of the department should act
as the profit center head, the
meaning of the concept is to
changethewholemindsetand
perspectiveof thedepartment
towardsthecompany
.Theday
when the departmental heads
start working considering the
point of view of the top man-
agements and focus on how
their departments can con-
tribute to the company’s di-
rectgrowth,theycanbecalled
the best departmental head.
The head of the department
should work with the employ-
ees of their department in
such a way that each and eve-
ry employee of the depart-
ment can share their contri-
bution and show involvement
in the company’s growth.
LET’S CONSIDER
AN EXAMPLE
Henry Ford, who was the own-
er of the world famous Ford
Company
, had a different vi-
sion and way of working from
that of other promoters. He
used to hold regular meetings
with all the heads of depart-
ments,hislessonswerespecial
for all the employees. He also
sometimes used to interact di-
rectly with the employees and
said, “Life is the Ocean of Ex-
periences!” every experience
teach and inspire us to do
somethingnew.Healsousedto
say to his employees, do what-
ever you want to do it with
yourheartandfulldedication.
By doing things with heart
special contributions can be
made to the organization.
Henry always advised his
departmental heads that if
theyareabletogivelong-term
and positive vision to the em-
ployees and show them how
they can contribute and be a
partner in company’s growth
thenyouareanexcellentlead-
er. The easiest way to achieve
this is to create a sense of
ownership spirit in every em-
ployee. Every work profile
should be respected and every
work should be done from
heartwillfulldedication.And
the person who works with
proper dedication will be-
come a partner in the com-
pany’s growth in true senses.
The heads of each depart-
ment should recognize the
strengths of their employees
and distribute the work ac-
cordingly. Henry always ad-
vised employees saying, “Di-
vide your wok into small
targets, this will make easy
for you to reach the goal. This
will help you achieve big tar-
gets.” If you take a look away
from your goal then it means
that you have lost control to
reach your goal and you need
to focus. The most difficult
and effortful work is to make
every employee of your team
to work in team. If this is an
easy task for you then you
come out as a good leader but
if you are weak leader then
employees will not associate
themselves with your vision.
The conclusion of the dis-
cussion comes out to be that
the head of the department
should make every employee
of his team participate in the
company’s work keeping in
mind their vision and goals.
Some tips.
z The head of each department
should check their employ-
ees to work in a team.
z The head of the department
should work together with
other heads and participate
equally in the company’s
growth.
z The head of the department
should check how each em-
ployee can participate in the
company’s growth and distrib-
ute the work accordingly.
z It is the responsibility of the
departmental head to see
that every employee looks
after their work and works
towards progress.
THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY
THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL

budgetary constraints
that may come in the
way of adoption of tech-

He said the criminal
world has globalised and
stressed that “we need to
be ten steps ahead” of
them (criminals).

crime is no longer local-

“That is why mutual
cooperation between

He said whether it is

FM ASKS STATES
Ease logistics burden
onexporters:Nirmala
Kakinada (PTI): Union
Finance Minister Nirmala
Sitharaman on Friday
asked States to adopt a
multi-modal approach and
ensure logistics did not
become a burden on
exporters.
She said the PM Gati
Shakti was a beautiful pro-
tocol with which a synergy
could be brought in.
Sitharaman referred to
‘One District-One Product’
and ‘Vocal for Local’, initia-
tives, aimed at promoting
local products and creating
their export markets.
She said the Commerce
Ministry was working on
getting an export policy
that would help the export-
ers by giving them incen-
tives and promoting many
things.
“There’s a repetitive and
very relevant line that the
Commerce Minister refers
to … ‘We can’t be exporting
taxes.’ We also should iden-
tify ways in which those
taxes – whether Centre,
State or local – that are on
these products should be
removed so that we don’t
burden their exporters,”
the Finance Minister said.
The governments did not
get much revenue from
those products but bur-
dened the exporters never-
theless, she noted. She said
the growing cost of elec-
tricity and logistics was
also affecting the exports.
“With better roads and
ports coming… electronic
facilitation for the customs
operations coming…surely
,
the logistics element is be-
ing addressed little by lit-
tle. State governments
should also spend some
time to see that logistics
doesn’t become a burden
on exporters,” Sitharaman
said. The Finance Minister
referred to the Prime Min-
ister’s suggestion that
States should open export
promotion offices in Indian
embassies abroad.
“If you have the capacity
to tell the kind of things
you produce that are inter-
national class… our embas-
sies are the place where
you should be and target
the markets there. Some of
our States are the size of
some European countries.
We have the capacity even
as a district to capture the
market outside,” she said.

High inflation is
a result of price
shocks: Bhide
New Delhi (PTI): The
high inflation rate in the
last three quarters is main-
ly a consequence of the
‘exogenous’ price shocks,
and addressing the issue
will require coordinated
policy efforts, RBI Mone-
tary Policy Committee
(MPC) member Shashanka
Bhide has said.
Bhide further said the
inflationary pressures are
high and it certainly is a
test for India’s inflation
targeting framework.
“The high inflation rate
in Q2 FY2022-23 follows
high inflation in the previ-
ous two quarters.
“High fuel and food pric-
es and their spillover to
other sectors have sus-
tained the high inflation
rate,” he said.
The retail inflation
based on CPI has remained
above 6% since January
2022, and it was 7.41% in
September.
“While this pattern is
mainly a consequence of
the exogenous price
shocks, it is important to
take measures to limit the
spillover of the price
shocks to the rest of the

Kakinada (PTI): Union
Minister for Commerce
and Industry Piyush Goyal
on Friday said that foreign
trade would become a truly
defining feature that would
help India become a $30
trillion economy in the
Amrit Kaal.
“We have reached that
inflection point, we are at
the cusp, where we are go-
ing to take off. If we have
the ambition to be at least
ten times in the next 25
years...We are looking to
cross the $30 trillion
economy with a per capita
GDP of 15,000 dollar,”
Goyal said.
Goyal noted that foreign
trade would become a truly
defining feature in the
years to come “as we work

Mumbai (PTI): The rupee declined by 14 paise to close at 82.47

Mumbai: After Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi launched the
nationwide ‘Rozgar
Melas’ to hand over
appointment letters
to 75,000 youth, Shiv
Sena Uddhav Balasa-
heb Thackeray
lodged a protest with
the Election Commis-
sion of India (ECI) on
Friday.
National spokesper-
son of the faction led
by former Chief Minis-
ter Uddhav Thackeray,
Kishore Tiwari, filed a
petition with the ECI,
seeking an urgent ban
and investigation into
the meetings. Terming
Rozgar Melas as “plant-
ed”, he said they are
“illegal and unethical
as they violate the All
India Services (Con-
duct) Rules and other
regulations”.
The petition con-
tends that the Melas are
events organized for
sheer political gains by
the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) and con-
trary to all civil servic-
es as well as Army
rules. It also claims that
BJP banks and other
public sector undertak-
ings which took part in
the jamboree held si-
multaneously all over
India, were sponsored
by government funds.
In Maharashtra, the
Rozgar Melas was
spearheaded by Union
ministers Piyush Goyal
(Mumbai), Narayan
Rane (Pune) and Ram-
das Athawale (Nagpur)
in the presence of vari-
ous party leaders on
October 22. Over 800
youth were given their
job letters amid much
fanfare.
Opposition Maha Vi-
kas Aghadi (MVA) coa-
lition leaders like Con-
gress’ Atul Londhe, Na-
tionalist Congress Par-
ty’s Mahesh Tapase and
Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Ti-
wari had slammed the
BJP for giving only
75,000 jobs against
Modi’s 2014 promise to
create two crore jobs
every year.
In the petition, Ti-
wari said by organizing
such grand events, vari-
ous Central govern-
ment departments and
PSU undertakings have
violated their own ser-
vice rules and recruit-
ment regulations. They
do not allow distribu-
tion of so-called ap-
pointment letters with

party members, that
too, when the poll pro-
cess of elections to
Himachal Pradesh have
already been set in mo-
tion by the ECI and
dates are likely to be an-
nounced for Gujarat
soon.
“Any such event with
the eyes to benefit the
ruling party politically
is not only illegal but it
is against the several
judgments of the Su-
preme Court as well as
ECI guidelines for free
and fair polls,” he said.
He urged the ECI to
immediately ban all fu-
ture Rozgar Melas, ad-
here to the SC orders,
and initiate an investi-
gation into authorizing
parties of the events.

MUMBAI, SATURDAY,
OCTOBER 29, 2022
Adding a jacket to any ensemble gives it charm and makes one look
sophisticated and classy. Any ensemble that incorporates ethnic jackets
gains magic and becomes an occult statement item. City First brings to
you the significance of jackets in the ethnic world!
ashion is what you adopt when
you don’t know who you are. In-
dian fashion is wonderful. ash-
ion is what you adopt when you
don’t know who you are. Indian
fashion is wonderful. Every en-
chanted flower, each brisk
breeze, each wintry snowfall, the end-
less hours and agonising efforts it takes
to complement the wearer’s style like
Indian girls themselves. You can style
ethnic jackets anyplace and however,
you choose. An ordinary outfit can be-
come a standout piece by adding an eth-
nic jacket. Three different jacket styles
can be worn over a saree - long jackets,
short jackets and medium-sized jackets.
This modern way of wearing a saree
with a jacket makes it another designer
ensemble in and of itself. There are two
ways to wear it, either inside like a
blouse and wrapping the pallu over the
jacket, or outside like a jacket over a sa-
ree pallu. Again, the body form is what
immediately lends a glam appearance.
Indian design is complex. Go for a
black skirt and blouse combo with a
colourfully embroidered short jacket
if you’re having trouble deciding
what kind of jacket to wear with what
colour. This instantly creates a ritzy
appearance that can be worn for any
celebratory occasion.
Who in the world will say no to
pairing an ethnic embroidered
jacketwithafull-lengthAnarka-
li kurta? Some embroidery
jackets are finely made with
alluring details in them giving
a classy yet posh wedding-
ready look. When you have a
straightforward Anarkali
suit and a stylish jacket with
an all-over body sequence, it
is pure happiness.
Traditional jackets are
also frequently worn by
people who seek to give
their appearance a sense of
authority and power. Such
jackets were worn by the
royals of Western India
during those grand cele-
brations and ceremonies.
See how the same kurta set
can give you a light look
when worn alone or a weighty
look when worn with a jacket
that has delicate sequin em-
broidery. For women or girls
who want to achieve two
looks with one dress, this
three-piece set is perfect.
The same attire can be
transformed into a du-
al-look outfit. By sim-
ply mixing and match-
ing the components
of an outfit, it is pos-
sible to dress Indian
wear in a variety of
ways. By experi-
menting, you can
generate a wide va-
riety of fashion
trends. Just start
with the ethnic
jackets if you
wish to incorpo-
rate new things
into your fashion
sense. Jackets
over ethnic are
the finest work
wear for a girl
who likes to
style her ordi-
nary work
clothing in a
c o n t e m p o -
rary way.

THE WORLD STAGE
THE WORLD STAGE
hen Shake-
speare, the
great play-
w r i g h t ,
penned his
i m m o r t a l
words “ALL
THE WORLD’S A
STAGE”, his view was
limited to a metaphor. He
could not have imagined
that a young, skinny
Hindu would become the
PM of the UK and pio-
neer a new World Stage
for generations to follow.
The meteoric rise of
Rishi Sunak to the high-
est office in Great Brit-
ain is being hailed the
world over, albeit
through deviating
prisms. Sadly, in some
dark minds, his rise is
being seen as a body
blow and a conspiracy
against the whites.
But, as a matter of
fact, his rise is the cut-
ting edge of human evo-
lution, for it has pushed
mankind many miles
closer to that distant uto-
pia where man nature
will coexist in eternal
bliss.
While Indians are cel-
ebrating pluralism in a
country that ruled over
them for 200 years, they
are letting monism crawl
out at home. Coloured
people are feeling some-
what vindicated that
their skin shade is noth-
ing but a pigment of the
imagination.
What Sunak
really
represents is the tri-
umph of core human
values of hard work, in-
tegrity and learning.
He has proven that the
barriers of religion
colour are high only for
the mediocre. To step
over them with alacrity,
sangfroid the confi-
dence of a Barack, Ri-
shi, Manmohan or Lal
Bahadur, one has to be-
come taller in character,
professional integrity
wisdom, all honed by
quality education. Such
personalities belie the
excuses, alibis and self-
justifications of the lazy
and corrupt.
Having said that, for
such efforts to fructify,
the ground of liberal
thought (democracy) is a
prerequisite, even if
partly tilled. Is it any
surprise that such leaps
are well nigh impossible
in autocratic or theocrat-
ic states? Only democra-
cies, the crucibles of lib-
eral thought, can make it
possible. They welcome
pure talent integrity to
break their fossilized
thoughts on colour, reli-
gion etc and cement
their democratic values.
Rishi Sunak
has enkindled
many a flame
across the world
stage. He has add-
ed fuel to a mil-
lion burning spir-
its who can now dare
to dream big !!
Just as electricity, a
miracle once, is now the
most common utility in
our lives, so too would
that stage be that
Rishi has
set up so adroitly
.
For thousands of
years, Mt.Everest stood
unconquered, until the
young Edmund Hillary
climbed it in 1953. Ever
since, in 69 short years,
more than 6,000 have
climbed that peak., with
one Nepali Sherpa mak-
ing 26 ascents !! By the
way, his name is Kami
Rita, in case his effort
has been lost in the dust
of that oft-tread path !!
Even though the irre-
pressible comics cyn-
ics will add grist to their
humour rumour mills,
they can never take
away the breathtaking
conquest of Rishi Su-
nak, the 57th PM of
Great Britain, once the
biggest empire the world
has known. The trail he
has blazed will make it
easier for the ones who
are sure to emulate his
extraordinary feat.

every movie promotion, she comes to
make statements with her looks. Glam-
our is at the heart and soul of it all and
to do it once again with Mili came to us as no
revelation, our eyes are lovin' it. The actress
is primarily paying pretty and flawless trib-
utes to ethnic ensembles and we love how this
Monika Nidhii saree got itself hooked
onto her style list.
Trust to deliver the best with the
25-year-old's latest look. In her case,
it was striking with colours and it is
good for when you want something
colourful such as a wedding or a
puja attendee. This lime green crea-

reason why this look is worth ref-

could be your formula too for weddings and gath-

The family was dressed up in spectacular Fal-

  • 1. Maharashtra’s ‘Maha-crisis’: 90 days, `1.80 lakh crore lost! Kartikey Dev Singh Mumbai: The state gov- ernment has come un- der heavy fire following the Centre’s announce- ment that the Tata-Air- bus C-295 transport air- craft project would be set up in Gujarat, with the opposition demand- ing to know why the project, meant to be set up here, went to the neighbouring state. The Tata-Airbus pro- ject, which could have generated 6,000 jobs, is hardly the first to move out of the coastal state led by Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis in recent times. Over the course of about 90 days, investmentsworth a whopping Turn to P6 National Cong chief to now sort city-level disputes! Sandeep Shukla Mumbai: Newly elect- ed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will soon head to Mum- bai, where the party’s city unit is marred by factionalism, to smooth ruffled feathers and hopefully improve its chances in the elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation- -the country’s richest- -which are due shortly . Those familiar with the issue say Kharge may effect a change in the city panel on his trip here in a bid to coalesce four warring factions that have formed within the Mumbai Congress. Former Mumbai Con- gress President Sanjay Nirupam, formerly of the “Rahul Gandhi camp”, has been side- lined since of late. How- ever, that has not stopped him from bend- ing the ears of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and even Kharge with the latest happenings in the Mumbai Congress. Meanwhile, Kharge, having been in charge of the Mumbai unit of the Grand Old Party in the past, is well aware of the strife within the unit. Word is that when Mumbai Congress lead- ers went to Turn to P6 Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. —FILE PHOTO Does this ED (Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis) government belong to Maharashtra or Gujarat? This government claimed that the Vedanta-Foxconn project went to Gujarat due to the earlier MVA government. Now because of whom did this project (Tata Airbus) go to Gu- jarat? —Ambadas Danve, LoP, Maha Legislative Council Despite so much development, the then MVA govt did not send a single letter to the Centre. That govt did not even follow up the issue with the Union govt. MVA leaders should avoid diverting attention despite being aware of the facts. I chal- lenge them to release a letter they had addressed to Tata-Airbus in the past. —Keshav Upadhye, Maha BJP chief spokesperson It is clear that Shinde and Fadnavis are traitors who are promoting the inter- ests of Gujarat. Maharashtra has the largest industry in the country. Prime Minister Modi worries that Gujarat is behind Maharashtra. That is why ever since he became the Prime Minister, he has planned to shift important projects and institutions in Maharashtra to Gujarat. —Nana Patole, President, Maharashtra Pradesh Con- gress Committee The agreement to build Tata Airbus cargo plane in Vadodara, Gujarat, was inked on September 21, 2021. At that time, there was no Shinde-Fadnavis govern- ment in the state; the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA govern- ment was at helm. The Maha Vikar Aghadi government did nothing to bring this project to Maharashtra. —Uday Samant, Industries Minister Chief Minister Shinde had clearly said that the Tata Airbus project to build C-295 military transport aircraft will come to Nagpur after Vedanta-Foxconn exited. But Shinde’s false role has now come to the fore. BJP has made Shinde the chief minister only to transfer mega pro- jects from Maharashtra to Gujarat. Eknath Shinde should also resign like Liz Truss. —Mahesh Cheche, Spokesperson, Nationalist Cong Party Kharge to travel to Mumbai to iron out differences between four factions of city unit UNTESTED LEADERSHIP? The root of the matter is that detractors feel that Mumbai Congress chief Bhai Jagtap and working president Charan Singh Sapra are not field tested. Jagtap has only won one Assembly election, and Sapra is yet to make a single notch on his meta- phorical belt. This has led to questions about their ability to lead the party to a win in the coming days. EXCLUSIVE Narayanpet: Amid the MLA poaching contro- versy, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has hit out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the BJP stating that both parties are two sides of the same coin and are against demo- cratic values and in- dulge in politics of money . He accused both the TRS and BJP of horse-trading and top- pling governments. “I would like to say clearly here that, for us, BJP and TRS are the same. TRS helps BJP in Delhi and BJP helps TRS in Telangana. Both parties are against democracy and indulge in the poli- tics of money. They do money politics by buy- ing MLAs and both par- ties work to topple the government,” the Con- gress leader said. Rahul Gandhi started the march on Friday from Yeligandla in Narayanpet district of Telangana and Friday was the third day of the yatra in the state. The yatra halted at Maha- bubnagar on Friday. The Yatra which began on September 7 from Kanniyakumari will cover a further distance of 2,355 km in its 3,570- km march. The Andhra Pradesh leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra con- cluded on October 21. The Bharat Jodo Yatra was launched on September 7, 2022, and will cover as many as 12 states. The Yatra started from Kanyakumari and will end in Kashmir nex year by covering 25 km every day . More on P6 Ladakh: Defence Min- ister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the Centre’s aim is to ensure the pro- gress of far-flung areas to fulfil the security needs of the country . He inaugurated 75 in- frastructure projects spread across six States and two UTs, during his visit to Ladakh. These projects have been built by the Border Roads Or- ganisation (BRO). He also inaugurated the Shyok Setu at Leh. After inaugurating theprojects,Singhinter- acted with the locals. “The people living in border areas are our strategic assets. Infra- structure is being rap- idly developed in border areas. We cannot say enough in praise for BRO for the work they havedonehere,”hesaid. www.firstindia.co.in I https://firstindia.co.in/epapers/mumbai I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia MUMBAI l SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2022 l Pages 12 l 3.00 RNITITLE NO.MAHENG/2022/14652 lVol 1 l Issue No.171 OUR EDITIONS: JAIPUR, NEW DELHI MUMBAI DELHI RIOTS: HC ADJOURNS HEARING ON IMAM’S BAIL INDIGO FLIGHT GROUNDED AT DELHI AFTER ‘SPARKS’ New Delhi: A Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight was grounded at the Delhi airport after suspected sparks in the aircraft, news agency ANI reported. Earlier, on Thursday, a Delhi-bound Akasa Air flight was hit by a bird during the climb, due to which the aircraft suffered a radome damage. New Delhi: The Delhi High court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of Sharjeel Imam for six weeks at the request of his counsel till December 16, 2022. He is an accused in the larger conspiracy of the February 2020 Delhi riots. C’GARH: IAS SAMEER VISHNOI SENT TO 14-DAY JUDICIAL CUSTODY Raipur: Raipur district and sessions court gave ED 14-day judicial custody of Chhattisgarh IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi and two businessmen in a money laundering case. The IAS officer along with two others, Laxmikant Tiwari and Sunil Agrawal were sent to central jail by the court. BSE SENSEX 59959.85 203.01 | NSE NIFTY 17786.80 49.80 ‘CHINTAN SHIVIR’ FOR A BETTER LAW AND ORDER “Take inspiration from each other for India’s betterment” Surajkund: PM Naren- dra Modi on Friday ad- vised all the States and the Union Territories to learn and take inspira- tion from each other and work for the better- ment of the country . Addressing the gath- ering through video conferencing at the con- cluding session of the two-day ‘Chintan Shivir of Home Ministers’ of all states that started on Thursday, the PM said that the event is a prime example of “coopera- tive federalism”. He said, “even though law and order are the re- sponsibilityof thestates as per the constitution, they are equally related to the unity and integri- ty of the country .” He said that during the Amrit Kaal, an Am- rit generation will emerge carrying the es- sence of the ‘Panch Pran’– advance with greater conviction. More on P6 In past few years, all governments have acted responsibly to demolish ground network of terror. We need to handle it by combining our forces. We will have to defeat all forms of Naxalism - be it gun-totting or pen-wielding, we will have to find a solu- tion for all of them. It’s 5G era, we have to be 10 steps ahead of crime world,” PM Modi calls for smart law and order system Be smart, formulate ‘common technol- ogy’ to check crime, improve policing —Narendra Modi, Prime Minister PM MOOTS IDEA OF “ONE NATION, ONE UNIFORM” FOR POLICE PM Modi said the identity of the police force across the country should be identical. Address- ing the Chintan Shivi, he floated the idea of ‘one nation, one uniform’ for police’. Modi said he wasn’t forcing the idea on any state but the ministers must give it a thought. This will be a major step to- wards increasing the production of oilseeds for which the country is heavily import- dependent. Against an annual production of around 8.5 million tonnes of ed- ible oil, India imports around 14.5 mt of edible oil to meet its domestic demand of edible oil. Genetically modified crops have met stiff resistance from farmers and environmentalists. The first to be opposed tooth and nail was Bt cotton despite sui- cides by cotton growers due to crop losses. Once introduced in 2002 the insect and pest resistant crop has benefited farmers by cutting expenditure on insecti- cides and increased production. As controversial as Bt cotton was Bt brinjal the commercial re- lease of which was foiled by envi- ronmentalists. The GM mustard may also require government clearanceforcommercialrelease. C-295 AIRCRAFT’S GUJARAT LANDING The project is worth Rs 1.54 lakh cr. Aaaditya Thackeray, leader of Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena said that the project was moved out of Maharashtra after it was “almost finalised.” It was a blow to state govt’s initiative, he said T he word accountability is giv- en least importance in India. Employees work hard at their work place but they don’t care how much contribution their hard work is adding to their organization profit. The con- cern of “profit” merely re- mains till the promoters and the finance department. The marketingandmanufacturing department primarily con- tribute to business and prod- uct generation. While other departments of any organiza- tion identify themselves as a support function, which is not correct. Be it be HR Depart- ment, supply chain depart- mentorthemarketingdepart- ment, eachdepartmentandits headmustactasprofit-centric head for their organization. What should be the role of the head of the department and how they can work as profit centric head, let’s take a look. It is usually the head of the Department who has to look up to the administrative affairs of his department. Generally , what a head of de- partment does is that he mon- itors his department and em- ployees working under him perform better than other departments of the company . Often, it is also possible that the head of the department is superior to all of his employ- ees just to show to the man- agement, to resort to internal constraints and policies and to compete with others. A healthy competition between the two departments offers good productivity in the com- pany, but in the competition to prove themselves superior an atmosphere of internal clashes and stress is created. When we say that the head of the department should act as the profit center head, the meaning of the concept is to changethewholemindsetand perspectiveof thedepartment towardsthecompany .Theday when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top man- agements and focus on how their departments can con- tribute to the company’s di- rectgrowth, theycanbecalled the best departmental head. The head of the department should work with the employ- ees of their department in such a way that each and eve- ry employee of the depart- ment can share their contri- bution and show involvement in the company’s growth. LET’S CONSIDER AN EXAMPLE Henry Ford, who was the own- er of the world famous Ford Company , had a different vi- sion and way of working from that of other promoters. He used to hold regular meetings with all the heads of depart- ments, hislessonswerespecial for all the employees. He also sometimes used to interact di- rectly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Ex- periences!” every experience teach and inspire us to do somethingnew.Healsousedto say to his employees, do what- ever you want to do it with yourheartandfulldedication. By doing things with heart special contributions can be made to the organization. Henry always advised his departmental heads that if theyareabletogivelong-term and positive vision to the em- ployees and show them how they can contribute and be a partner in company’s growth thenyouareanexcellentlead- er. The easiest way to achieve this is to create a sense of ownership spirit in every em- ployee. Every work profile should be respected and every work should be done from heartwillfulldedication. And the person who works with proper dedication will be- come a partner in the com- pany’s growth in true senses. The heads of each depart- ment should recognize the strengths of their employees and distribute the work ac- cordingly. Henry always ad- vised employees saying, “Di- vide your wok into small targets, this will make easy for you to reach the goal. This will help you achieve big tar- gets.” If you take a look away from your goal then it means that you have lost control to reach your goal and you need to focus. The most difficult and effortful work is to make every employee of your team to work in team. If this is an easy task for you then you come out as a good leader but if you are weak leader then employees will not associate themselves with your vision. The conclusion of the dis- cussion comes out to be that the head of the department should make every employee of his team participate in the company’s work keeping in mind their vision and goals. Some tips. z The head of each department should check their employ- ees to work in a team. z The head of the department should work together with other heads and participate equally in the company’s growth. z The head of the department should check how each em- ployee can participate in the company’s growth and distrib- ute the work accordingly. z It is the responsibility of the departmental head to see that every employee looks after their work and works towards progress. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL T Henry Ford, who was the owner of the world famous Ford Company, had a different vision and way of working from that of other promoters. His lessons were special for all the employees. He sometimes used to interact directly with the employees and said, “Life is the Ocean of Experiences!” The day when the departmental heads start working considering the point of view of the top managements and focus on how their departments can contribute to the company’s direct growth, they can be called the best departmental head. They should work with employees in such a way that the staff is involved in firm’s growth CAN A DEPARTMENT HEAD WORK AS PROFIT CENTER HEAD? BHAVESH UPADHYAY The writer is a Businessman and HR Expert

She said the PM Gati Shakti was a beautiful pro- tocol with which a synergy could be brought in. Sitharaman referred to ‘One District-One Product’ and ‘Vocal for Local’, initia- tives, aimed at promoting local products and creating their export markets. She said the Commerce Ministry was working on getting an export policy that would help the export- ers by giving them incen- tives and promoting many things. “There’s a repetitive and very relevant line that the Commerce Minister refers to … ‘We can’t be exporting taxes.’ We also should iden- tify ways in which those taxes – whether Centre, State or local – that are on these products should be removed so that we don’t burden their exporters,” the Finance Minister said. The governments did not get much revenue from those products but bur- dened the exporters never- theless, she noted. She said the growing cost of elec- tricity and logistics was also affecting the exports. “With better roads and ports coming… electronic facilitation for the customs operations coming…surely , the logistics element is be- ing addressed little by lit- tle. State governments should also spend some time to see that logistics doesn’t become a burden on exporters,” Sitharaman said. Some of our States are the size of some European countries. We have the capacity even as a district to capture the market outside,” she said. The retail inflation based on CPI has remained above 6% since January 2022, and it was 7.41% in September. “While this pattern is mainly a consequence of the exogenous price shocks, it is important to take measures to limit the spillover of the price shocks to the rest of the economy . National spokesper- son of the faction led by former Chief Minis- ter Uddhav Thackeray, Kishore Tiwari, filed a petition with the ECI, seeking an urgent ban and investigation into the meetings. Terming Rozgar Melas as “plant- ed”, he said they are “illegal and unethical as they violate the All India Services (Con- duct) Rules and other regulations”. The petition con- tends that the Melas are events organized for sheer political gains by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and con- trary to all civil servic- es as well as Army rules. It also claims that BJP banks and other public sector undertak- ings which took part in the jamboree held si- multaneously all over India, were sponsored by government funds. In Maharashtra, the Rozgar Melas was spearheaded by Union ministers Piyush Goyal (Mumbai), Narayan Rane (Pune) and Ram- das Athawale (Nagpur) in the presence of vari- ous party leaders on October 22. In the petition, Ti- wari said by organizing such grand events, vari- ous Central govern- ment departments and PSU undertakings have violated their own ser- vice rules and recruit- ment regulations. They do not allow distribu- tion of so-called ap- pointment letters with the hands of ruling party members, that too, when the poll pro- cess of elections to Himachal Pradesh have already been set in mo- tion by the ECI and dates are likely to be an- nounced for Gujarat soon. “Any such event with the eyes to benefit the ruling party politically is not only illegal but it is against the several judgments of the Su- preme Court as well as ECI guidelines for free and fair polls,” he said. He urged the ECI to immediately ban all fu- ture Rozgar Melas, ad- here to the SC orders, and initiate an investi- gation into authorizing parties of the events. Any ensemble that incorporates ethnic jackets gains magic and becomes an occult statement item. City First brings to you the significance of jackets in the ethnic world! ashion is what you adopt when you don’t know who you are. In- dian fashion is wonderful. ash- ion is what you adopt when you don’t know who you are. Indian fashion is wonderful. Every en- chanted flower, each brisk breeze, each wintry snowfall, the end- less hours and agonising efforts it takes to complement the wearer’s style like Indian girls themselves. You can style ethnic jackets anyplace and however, you choose. An ordinary outfit can be- come a standout piece by adding an eth- nic jacket. Three different jacket styles can be worn over a saree - long jackets, short jackets and medium-sized jackets. This modern way of wearing a saree with a jacket makes it another designer ensemble in and of itself. There are two ways to wear it, either inside like a blouse and wrapping the pallu over the jacket, or outside like a jacket over a sa- ree pallu. Again, the body form is what immediately lends a glam appearance. Indian design is complex. Go for a black skirt and blouse combo with a colourfully embroidered short jacket if you’re having trouble deciding what kind of jacket to wear with what colour. This instantly creates a ritzy appearance that can be worn for any celebratory occasion. Who in the world will say no to pairing an ethnic embroidered jacketwithafull-lengthAnarka- li kurta? Some embroidery jackets are finely made with alluring details in them giving a classy yet posh wedding- ready look. When you have a straightforward Anarkali suit and a stylish jacket with an all-over body sequence, it is pure happiness. Traditional jackets are also frequently worn by people who seek to give their appearance a sense of authority and power. Such jackets were worn by the royals of Western India during those grand cele- brations and ceremonies. See how the same kurta set can give you a light look when worn alone or a weighty look when worn with a jacket that has delicate sequin em- broidery. For women or girls who want to achieve two looks with one dress, this three-piece set is perfect. The same attire can be transformed into a du- al-look outfit. By sim- ply mixing and match- ing the components of an outfit, it is pos- sible to dress Indian wear in a variety of ways. By experi- menting, you can generate a wide va- riety of fashion trends. Just start with the ethnic jackets if you wish to incorpo- rate new things into your fashion sense. Jackets over ethnic are the finest work wear for a girl who likes to style her ordi- nary work clothing in a c o n t e m p o - rary way. MRIDULA SHARMA cityfirst@firstindia.co.in F

The meteoric rise of Rishi Sunak to the high- est office in Great Brit- ain is being hailed the world over, albeit through deviating prisms. Sadly, in some dark minds, his rise is being seen as a body blow and a conspiracy against the whites. But, as a matter of fact, his rise is the cut- ting edge of human evo- lution, for it has pushed mankind many miles closer to that distant uto- pia where man nature will coexist in eternal bliss. While Indians are cel- ebrating pluralism in a country that ruled over them for 200 years, they are letting monism crawl out at home. Coloured people are feeling some- what vindicated that their skin shade is noth- ing but a pigment of the imagination. What Sunak really represents is the tri- umph of core human values of hard work, in- tegrity and learning. He has proven that the barriers of religion colour are high only for the mediocre. To step over them with alacrity, sangfroid the confi- dence of a Barack, Ri- shi, Manmohan or Lal Bahadur, one has to be- come taller in character, professional integrity wisdom, all honed by quality education. Such personalities belie the excuses, alibis and self- justifications of the lazy and corrupt. Having said that, for such efforts to fructify, the ground of liberal thought (democracy) is a prerequisite, even if partly tilled. Is it any surprise that such leaps are well nigh impossible in autocratic or theocrat- ic states? Only democra- cies, the crucibles of lib- eral thought, can make it possible. They welcome pure talent integrity to break their fossilized thoughts on colour, reli- gion etc and cement their democratic values. Rishi Sunak has enkindled many a flame across the world stage. He has add- ed fuel to a mil- lion burning spir- its who can now dare to dream big !! Just as electricity, a miracle once, is now the most common utility in our lives, so too would that stage be that Rishi has set up so adroitly . For thousands of years, Mt.Everest stood unconquered, until the young Edmund Hillary climbed it in 1953. Ever since, in 69 short years, more than 6,000 have climbed that peak., with one Nepali Sherpa mak- ing 26 ascents !! By the way, his name is Kami Rita, in case his effort has been lost in the dust of that oft-tread path !! Even though the irre- pressible comics cyn- ics will add grist to their humour rumour mills, they can never take away the breathtaking conquest of Rishi Su- nak, the 57th PM of Great Britain, once the biggest empire the world has known.
