COMMUNITY LEADERS’ BEST PRACTICES “Speak human” Be relatable, provide relevant information, and break down the process so it’s easy to understand for anyone who reads it “Use examples” Share examples to help provide more insight and clarity. This also helps visual learners understand the direction of your answer “Give perspective” Use your own experience in being able to tackle a certain task or obstacle. Sharing a use case can be helpful in guiding someone to the answer they are looking for

- Welcome “Bangalore” ACE members! This quick presentation is just a quick overview of how to answer questions online with a sense of ease and confidence. Towards the end, we will work together to answer one question as a group, then we’ll take about 15 minutes at the end for everyone to answer a question on their own. Here we go…
- Leader: -If you haven’t logged in before, make sure to sign up for the Community. It’s quick, easy, and free! -If already have a profile, make sure to login
- Let’s all head to the Atlassian Answerers group. Just search “Atlassian Answerers Challenge” in the search bar and you should see it in the drop down list. Click on that. -You can then join the group “Atlassian Answerers” once you are in there. -You’ll notice that there are multiple people in there (over 500 members, whoa!) -There’s an amazing 30 day challenge going on which you won’t want to miss
- Here’s the challenge! After this quick demo on how to answer questions, hopefully we can all join and take home some of these awards!
- So this is an easy process and the next video (which I will help guide you through) will make it easier to finding your questions
- Let’s take a look at how to find the questions we would be interested in answering. -First, let’s look at all the options we can choose from (from product to interests to groups) -Second, once we select a product we are interested in answering (like Jira), let’s go to next selection and choose “Questions” -Third, figure out which area of questions you’d like to focus on (either most recent to trending) -Fourth, try to prioritize answering questions that are under the category “has no replies” since those “askers” could use some immediate assistance -Fifth, if you’re interested in something a little more defined within the product you selected, write a key word that could help you populate questions that interest you. For example if selecting Jira, maybe you’re interested in “workflow” questions or ones related to Jira “fields” or if you’d like to answer “server” vs “cloud” questions, you can add those in the tags too
- Now that we know how to find the questions, let’s get into the most important part…how to answer questions with confidence by using some best practices that have already been shared online!
- First resource is “The Community Leaders guide to A+ answers” This has amazing examples on answering questions in a way that makes sense and is more digestible.
- There’s also a great example on the Atlassian Answerers group that shares members tips for answering questions, these are just a few of the top points.
- Select a question with your group: either do a quick poll or allow them to suggest topics. Then share your screen and search for a question. Once found, answer the question together.
- -Have all members stay in the meeting and answer questions on their own. -The first 3 members who answered will receive a swag code for finishing (just provide the question they answered)
